They were prompt, thorough, documented all work and remaining issues and professional.  I would definitely use this company again for any house issue.

We had a leak in our kitchen, underneath an open porch.  The roof of the porch had to be replaced.  Joe estimated about $2,000.  When he got the roof off, he realized that the wood underneath was rotted and had to be replaced.  He called me right away to explain that it would be more than the estimate.  He showed me the rotten wood and I understood that he could not predict this, so was happy to pay more than the estimate.  The workers did a fine job fixing the roof, though there was a lot of junk left in the gutters.  I would use Joe again. 

We bought the cap pieces, but decided that we couldn't do the job because the shingles  at the apex of the roof needed shaving in order to fit the cap.  My husband contacted Mr. Gott and he was very impressed with Mr. Gott's professionalism and knowledge of the job.  Mr. Gott came out to the house the next morning to look over the job and give a quote.
I've read quite a bit about installing cedar roofs and ridge gaps--and Mr. Gott knew exactly the right approach to take.  In  just a few days he returned (as promised) along with a  three-man crew in another truck  to do the job.  He introduced me to the crew before he left to check on another job.  
The crew got right to work despite the very frigid weather.  They shaved the shingles, applied a weatherproofing strip we had bought (similar to ice and rain shield), and nailed the roof ridge.  The crew members were polite and professional.  Mr. Gott also called me to check on whether I approved the job.  
The guys did a great job.  Looks terrific!

These folks never got back to me.  I can understand some companies not wanting too fool with small jobs, but please!....give us the courtesy of getting back to us!

They did an excellent job.  Everyhing was cleaned up after they left.  Everyone involved in the project were very professional and cared about the project.  They even waited until after my summer plants were gone before starting any work as to not disturb them. 

They have also done work at a rental I own.  They were able to paint, install a kitchen, plumbing, electric work, install new windows, and tile work.  I couldn't be happier with the work they have done.  They were on the job every day at 7:30am and worked until 5:00pm.  I was there almost daily checking on the work, as well.

He never called me back and I ended up not using him.

I had four estimates from four local roofing companies.  Joe Gott's was in fact the highest estimate that I received -- but I was willing to pay a little more for decent, honest work.  Also, I have a Victorian house in the Elmwood Village, and I heard that his company (Home Handyman Service) specializes in these historic houses.

I made the right choice!   I've had bad luck with contractors in Buffalo.  Half of the time they make appointments to do estimates and they don't show up at all; the other 40% of the time they are hours late for appointments.  SO: working with Joe Gott was a breath of fresh air!  Joe showed up when he said he would; he did the work that he said he would; and he charged me the price that he said he would. 

A vent on the roof had shifted and was leaking water in the bedroom. They put a new piece up on the roof and I haven't had any problems or leaks since. I thought they did a pretty good job.

Overall It wasa great experiance. FRom what three of my friend's went through with roofer's I was quite nervous about the whole idea of getting started. Now I'm relieved, and very happy

 I called well over a week ago to have my damaged gutters serviced. The man who I had spoken to was very professional on the phone, but he was a no call/no show when it came down to it. When I first spoke to him almost 2 weeks ago, he said he would be over to take a look at it by Saturday, about 3 days from the date I called. He didn't call or show, so I called back today, almost 2 weeks later, to see what the problem was, and he said he was in the area, and wouldn't mind looking at it this afternoon. He didn't call or show up, again! I guess the job wasn't big enough for him.   I own a pretty big, 100 yld house, which needs some work done, and I would like to find an honest and reliable handyman service. It's such a shame because I was excited about working with him, given his almost perfect reviews on this site.

He did alright with the job. He got it done. He listened to us. It took a couple of weeks. The price was not bad.

He said he would give me a 5% discount and I never received it. The 24 inch part of my roof should not be included in his final price, however he charged me for the work. He also charged me for the chimney repair for $250 dollars extra. My roof still leaks around the alco after his work. After he looked at it, he said he couldn't fix the issue. He did a decent job on the roof, but I am not happy with his charges. My biggest complaint was his monkey-business. He didn't listen to me.

Joe did a new roof for us and came in at half the price of a tear-off. We were in deep need of a new roof and had put off the job for a long time because of the likely cost. Joe's crew is first-rate. They would not leave Joe or me alone until we negotiated a change order to put plywood under a portion of the roof around the chimney. They are fiercely proud of their work, and justly so. Despite current health challenges, Joe was always available and never failed to pick up calls during the job. Our new roof has already withstood sustained winds of 50 mph plus and heavy rains. No leaks and no lost shingles. Joe worked with us on the change order to give us an extra week to pay that part of the balance. I will call upon Joe for all of my home repair needs in the future.

I am writing this report to update my previous report on my unhappy experience with the answering service. After reading my report on Angie's list, Joe, the owner, called me immediately and apologized. He also explained to me that the girl that I was talking to does not work for him, instead he hired the answering service agency to handle all the calls. He was very sorry about how I was treated by them and kindly offered me $500 deduction from the estimate. Joe, was very professional, Knowledgeable and honest. When he gave us the estimate, he explained in detail how he is going to do the job and answered all our questions. He also told us that there is no need to replace the whole cutter system, instead he is going to do repairs on those damaged cutters and saved us some money. Even though I was not happy with the answering service, we are impressed by Joe's professionalism so much so that we decided to hire Joe to do the job.

Owner responded immedately to my calll for an estimate and after we agreed on the price the work was started within a day or two. His crew worked everyday until all work was completed and the site was cleaned up. I was very pleased with the speed and the quailty of all their work, I would highly reccomend them to anyone.

Joe the owner came out to give an estimate. When I asked about replacing the entire chimney, he told me it was a big expense and not really necessary, just needed some repair work. (Two others had said: "You really need to replace the whole chimney") His team came when expected, was very efficient, cleaned up everything. I was very satisfied.

My experience with him has been very positive. He came out when he said he would and gave me the estimate for the work. He did the work when he said he would. I wasn?t home when he came. He did not charge a deposit. He collected all the money at completion and his price was lower than the other estimate I received. When I would phone him, I always got a call back on a timely basis. He?s a very friendly individual and comes out in person. I am very happy with his work. He spent a fair amount of time looking at my porch and seeing what would be needed. He gave me his suggestions and a price, but I ended up choosing not to follow through with the work. I will certainly call him again for anything I need.

The job went smoothly from start to finish, the crew cleaned up after themselves every day, and made sure that exposed attic space was protected and cleaned up at end of the job. The workmen were friendly and polite and responsive, particularly to my concerns about trying not to damage the side garden.
