The project estimator (Joe) was very professional. I had done a lot of research up front, so my list of questions spanned 2-3 pages. He answered all my questions in detail, including follow ups, in a timely manor. He was not pushy and provided us with a detailed estimate outlining the work to be done. Black Rock contacted me a few days before they planned to begin the work. Due to weather, they had to postpone a couple days, but they kept me updated along the way. Overall the jobs went very well. The roof tear-off was a mess and the cleanup could have been better, but based on the amount of material removed (roof singles, gutters, soffits) it wasn't too bad. When prioritizing the ratings and experience, I feel the quality and workmanship is most important. Black Rock excels in those areas. They did the job right the first time. Due to their attention to detail, we have not had any issues. Their workmanship across the board was excellent. The few concerns that I raised during the work were addressed quickly. The gutter work was subcontracted. I had discussed this with Joe in advance. I generally prefer that jobs are not subcontracted, but decided to proceed in this case. The gutter work went well. They look and function great. I will use Black Rock again without hesitation.

Overall we had an excellent experience and we would use them again if we update our siding. We had a roof done on our last house and this was by far a better experience. Black Rock had a large crew and the work was done quickly. Debbie in the office was wonderful and helped answer my many questions and assisted with getting us addresses of houses with different color shingles while we were still deciding our color. The Certainteed shingle product that this company uses was also a big selling point since that was the brand that we wanted. We have had some very heavy rains since the roof was put on about 3 months ago and we have had no problems of leakage in the family room or anywhere else. It also looks beautiful and has upgraded the looks of the home.

They have come out here a couple of times. They were very cordial. They came back at least twice to fix the leak. We used to have a lot of rain here. It's not leaking anymore. They have been very good. They were very competitive compared to the three other estimates that we got. I used them because I found them on Angie's List, but I also checked with the Better Business Bureau. They came out when they said they would. When they said someone would call me back in an hour that usually happened. They were really good with the cleanup and so forth. I will probably be using them again for siding on the house if they do siding as well.

Called Blackrock for an estimate but decided to go with another firm for work. Price was slightly higher but did cover more services. Decision to use another firm had little to do with Blackrock and I would not hesitate to call them again.

The roof tear off and replacement was completed in one day, It was quite a mess but was cleaned up before they left. A week later the gutters were done, and approx one week later the side door overhang garage extension and removal of the antenna and overall check was completed. Everything was completed with in the time frame originally stated. The salesman Mark was very pleasant to work with and always responded to our call. We are very happy with the results.

They did a good job and cleaned up after themselves. I live close to my neighbors and they were conscience about keeping the neighbors lawn and driveway clean as well. I was very impressed with them. I found them to be very professional. They were polite and courteous. They had great customer service.

Called for an estimate on detached garage roof on June 23. Call not returned.

Black Rock provided me with the most professional and detailed estimate of the 4 companies that I contacted. Their price was very competitive. The crew showed early in the morning, as scheduled, and tore off the flat section of roofing on the back of the house and all of the gutters. Shortly afterward we had a torrential downpour, but the roof was quickly covered and the work continued as soon as the rain stopped. At the end of the first day the flat section was complete, including the replacement of one skylight. The next day a larger crew started early in the morning. and was supplemented in the afternoon by part of another crew. They completed the tear off and the installation of the shingled sections of roofing. During the tear-off, the crew was careful to use tarps and plywood to shield the entire area below. The work was completed late in the afternoon and the site was completely cleaned up. The only part that was overlooked was a bathroom exhaust fan vent. The vent was installed a few days later. It took a few days to get the gutters put up, because of the incessant rain, but when it was done I was satisfied with the work. When the job was complete I was contacted a couple of times to see if I had any questions but there were no issues to discuss.

I loved them; they were very nice and good. Their prices were cheap and I would highly recommend them.

Everything from estimate to completion was done in a highly professional manner. Work was done with high competence and cleanup was thorough.

After several consultations with the owner, David Bly, his crew came in and replaced structure, jacked everything back into place and installed a new roof. The finished job turned out great. Completely transformed the way my house looks. Would highly recommend this company

Although it took them 6 weeks between initial estimate and finish, I was more than satisfied and recommend their work to anyone that's looking for professionalism from the estimator to those that work on the home.

I would recommend David Bly and Black Rock Roofing with the utmost enthusiasm and without reservation. They corrected a problem roof that had been improperly installed and was causing the roof to conduct moisture through the walls and drywall into the house. Every person who worked on this project was professional and knowledgeable ... from tear-off to installation and cleanup. Before they completed the work, the carpet in the living room was growing mold!. It now feels safe to be in the house again .David ensures that the work being done is the same quality that he would demand for his own family.

I had to push for a final date on the project but when agreed they met contractual expectations. The work was performed in a highly professional manner. A large crew turned up on time, worked hard and most importantly cleared up before leaving every day. This was a tear-off project and the original quote was for one layer. On day one they discovered there was an additional layer and this added approximately 18% to the price. I felt this should have been spotted when the estimate was made. On the plus side I was pleased with the quality of the work and the finished product looks good.

We were very impressed with everyone we dealt with at Black Rock- they had initally told us they would be scheduling jobs for approximately 4 weeks out, which was fine with us. They were actually able to begin working within 2 weeks instead. They did an excellent job on the roof and the repairs to our chimney. They also did a good job with cleaning up after the job was done.

It is excellent. They came on time. They did everything within the price they quoted. They cleaned up afterwords. They made suggestions to me to make sure it was all done properly.

They were the highest quote I got, and I was not completely happy with their approach. They wanted to charge me for a lot of little things, that I did not think they should be charging. They did come out right away, but I did not end up picking this company. I would not get another quote from them.

We decided against using them because they are mainly just roofers and not construction guys for our other improvements. I think even if we do get a roof done we won?t use them.

How did it go over all?...it's still not completed!!! I first met with them on April 10, 2010, and today is July 1, 2010 and the job is still not done!!! Furthermore, they did not install the commercial scupper boxes I ordered (and was charged for). Black Rock?s owner advised me that they would be unattractive and they were unnecessary. I now have water pouring over the side of one of the boxes each time we get a moderate to heavy rain. Also, the new front porch gutter is plagued with the exact same issue as the one it replaced...pooling water in the same corner. Eventually, that will lead to leaks, ice buildup and premature gutter failure. Upon completion of the actual roof, a large amount of debris was left on the side of my house. I was told that their cleanup crew would be by later to pick it up. A week later I did it myself. Two weeks after the actual roof was completed, Black Rock Roofing sent two of their workers to reattach the wrought iron railing to the new roof. The workers struggled drilling out the old holes and grinding off the rusted bolts. As they cut through them, the now white hot bolts landed and then sat on the new roof leaving several burn marks. I eventually got my drill and drilled out the remaining holes for them. Lastly, the roofers threw away all of the iron spacers that connected the wrought iron railing supports to the new roof. I was told they would be back in two days with new replacements. A month later I went to an iron workers shop and had new ones custom made. The very day I ordered them, I came home to find a worker on my porch preparing some unpainted, store bought spacers. I informed him that I had already taken care of the issue myself. The worker suggested that I knock off $100 of the $500 still owed. I then painted, installed and caulked the new spacers I bought. It took me about two hours in all and the custom made spacers were surprisingly inexpensive. Last week, I spoke with Black Rock Roofing's owner, Dave, and expressed my concerns with the ongoing issues and the time line. I was assured that the all of the problems would be rectified. A new 12 inch scupper would be fabricated and installed and the gutter problem would be taken care of. If the issues are fixed, I would still recommend using them. People make mistakes and it is difficult to monitor every aspect of every job. If you admit your employees made an error then fix it in a timely manner, then you are an upright and noble company and I will happily recommend them. I am really hoping that by next week I can log back into to Angie?s list to praise Black Rock for their ability to stand by the word?and their work. I am a real estate agent and I deal with thousands of people, their homes and their homes? problems. Although Black Rock was by far the most expensive ($4075), I would really like to be able to say, ?Hey ya get what ya pay for? and recommend them to my clients. As it stands now, I am saying nothing until I can truthfully for say one way or another. UPDATE (4/13/2011): I contacted Black Rock Roofing two weeks ago after one of the residential sized scupper boxes became clogged, backed up and water began leaking into the roof and damaging the interior ceiling. Black Rock dispatched an employee within a few days to remove the debris and reseal around the box. Furthermore, they assured me that they will be back to install the the two new commercial sized scupper boxes that were part of the original order. Grant it the downspout clog may have been prevented if the commercial boxes had been installed from the beginning, but Black Rock has stuck by their work and their word by coming back to install the boxes. They even agreed to installing an electric deicing tape for me at no cost (except for materials of course). Once the new scuppers & deicing system have been installed, I will update my rating of the company. Black Rock has a good reputation. They have returned calls and followed up with me...something that can not be said for most contractors and roofers that i have had experiences with. Not every job can be perfect and I am hoping that my experience last summer was a fluke. Although pricey, at the end of the day, it appears they stand by their work. If all goes well over the next few weeks, I will happily amend my review and rating of the company and again recommend them to my clients.

They were every Profesional and Courteous. They Did an excellent Job. They showed up on time and finished on-time. Everything was Cleaned Up by the time I got home from work. They Exceeded My Expectations.

The estimate was for $11000. They were fine; they were on time. However, I don?t think I will be hiring them for this job.

The company was very professional and did an excellent job. They came on time and finished in two days. Clean up was fast and even washed the siding . We are very pleased and highly recommend Black Rock Roofing.

it was okay, first they came to my house and said they could replace a mortar cap on our chimney, but they couldn't do that and then they had to come back a different day to do the gutter cleaning which only took 2 hours (its a big house). I don't really know how clean the gutters are. they charged me for the partial gutter guards they could put in, they couldn't put in gutter guards all around the house, and they trimmed a few branches which i cleaned up. they did not attach an extra drain pipe to one of our spouts, which i requested twice, and they didn't do it. i was home so i dont know why they didn't knock on the door and ask. but all in all, it was standard, i think next time i'm going to try to go for someone who can do it a little bit cheaper.

When giving us an estimate as well as while doing the work, Black Rock's sales person,office staff, and workers gave us prompt and direct answers to all of our questions. We did ask questions because we had had some problems over the years with our old roof. They performed the work on time, the clean-up was thorough and none of our landscaping was damaged at all. Black Rock's price was about the same as the other 3 companies we talked to. Keep in mind that, if you have gutters done, there is a week delay between putting on the roof and putting up the gutters(Black Rock warned us of this delay ahead of time).
