Job was done but would have spent $100 just to have them look at it, won't call Sears again in the future, same thing happen with the oven. Service is good but the cost of the repair comes close to replacement cost of the appliance.
Description of Work: Just had the ice maker replaced - did a good job but is an ice maker really worth $433.00 - almost half the cost of a new refrigerator? Don't think so.

It turns out they don't have the parts for it anymore, so I will have to buy something new. They charged me for a service call. He was an "A" across the board. I asked him what would be a good replacement for this machine which has been fantastic for 25 years. He gave me insight on that.

It didn't go well. Serviceman came and broke the vent after cleaning. He used duct tape to cover up the problem. As soon as we went to use the dryer - the duct disconnected and would not stay in. After contacting Sears multiple times to follow up, they scheduled a service for the next day. They did show up and re-connected the duct with a new adapter. However, after that serviceman left, it was clear he ripped the duct farther through chute, collapsing it. Now the dryer air is blown back in. Looking for a good duct specialist to fix. As of right now, I can't get a hold of Sears dispatch - only their messaging people. Such a waste of time - I paid 150$ to miss a day of work, have someone break my dryer vent, then leave me to find a replacement. I'm not sad this company is going away.

Horrible, I purchased a 4 ton furnace and they ended up delivering a 3 ton furnace. During the installation the company they hired punctured my A/C coil draining it of the freon. I contacted them several times about all my issues and price different. They showed up about 1 1/2 to inspect the coil and determined that the company they sent were guilty of puncturing my furnace. They came over and loaded the freon back into the a/c and I was back in business, but I had spent a month and 1/2 sweeting tears. They eventually decided to give me back $300 back from a $4,500 purchase of a 4 ton furnace. I ran the furnace model and serial number and found out it was only worth $700. I got robbed. I guess I'm kind of a forgiving guy because I was also going to purchase a coil and condenser. They guaranteed price matching, so I did some shopping and eventually got a great deal from a adequate A/C company. I gave them the estimate the company gave me and he still proceeded to tack on another $500.00 in price, not including the warrantee. I gave up on Sears, they really suck.

They came did the service and then the dryer broke. The technician obviously did not know what he was doing in taking apart the dryer which caused the electrical outlet into the dryer to short and fuse together. A seriouse mistake which could hav likely caused a house fire. Took so much of our time away from my work to have to schedule an appointment, wait for them to show up, and when they did come they always had to order a part and come back.
Description of Work: They came to repair a washer and in turn convinced us to have a routine service done on our dryer.

I will never work with Sears Home Installation ever again. The salesman came and promised me the world. I agreed to use them for the siding on my Brooklyn home. I was told I had a week to decide. After he left, there was a nagging feeling that the price was too low ($6K less than Home Depot) and I was concerned I made a mistake. I showed some carpenters I know and they showed that the salesperson lied. he said it was their employees but the contract clearly said only contractors. It did not cover all the materials needed. He insisted I supply the lumber but that would have cancelled out the contract. Etc Etc. I called him and Sears directly to cancel. They are tricky, they only allow you to mail it in writing. I mailed it in and called numerous people. The salesman harassed me to cancel. He was so nasty, yelling at me that I was stupid to cancel. He basically cursed me that my job would go all wrong since I didn't go with him. To make matters worse, I am still fighting their billing dept 4 months later for a job I cancelled less than 24 hours later.

I bought the extended warranty before they came. It turned out the repair cost more than I paid so it was a pretty good deal. I was very happy. They came the first time to tell me what was wrong with the dryer. They tried to talk me into getting a checkup on the washer for another $40 when I set up the appointment. The repairman said it wasn't necessary if the washer was working well so he saved me $40. They came within a few days for the second appointment. They showed up on time and fixed it and it has been working fine ever since. The price was fair. They let me buy the warranty even after I didn't buy it when I purchased the appliance.

Terrible experience - I had to call the corporate complaint department to complain and cancel my order. I ordered a washer on 6/9 for delivery on 6/17. On 6/16 I got the window - 7:15am - 9:30am. On the delivery day (6/17), I received a call at 9:20 that it was not going to be delivered, no explanation, and that I had to call the store. I went to the store in person - there was no explanation there either, beyond vague comments that 5 other people had complained, the computers have problems, it's the delivery company. I gave my contact information and was told that the manager would call me but to call the associate after 2 if I didn't hear from her. I called after 2 and the manager stood next to the associate to relay information to me - she wouldn't get on the phone (and I was being very polite)! Very demeaning to both the associate and to me. I was told to call the delivery company and schedule my own delivery -which is against Sears policy - but that it would be delivered today. The professional but frustrated employee at the delivery company told me that the manager had never returned his call, he never said that it could be delivered today, and that they typically do NOT make Sunday deliveries for sales from this location. He said he would call me back (to his credit, he did, but could only either deliver a day this week I was not available or in July). I called customer service to lodge a complaint and was told I could speak to Sears shipping but declined, as the delivery company had left a message while I was on the phone. I listened to the message, found out the washer could only be delivered this Thursday (a day I am not available) or in July. I then called the store directly to cancel my order. After being on hold, the manager again wouldn't come to the phone - she was supposedly on the phone about my issue. I told the employee that I want my order cancelled - today. Her attitude was decidedly less friendly. I called corporate back and was hung up on after the associate asked me to hold while she retrieved my file. I called again and was told that the original associate who took my complaint never logged it. She was able, however, to cancel the order. I'll be watching my credit card account to ensure that it happens. To sum up: I scheduled a delivery 8 days in advance and was not told until 10 minutes before the window of delivery was up that it couldn't be delivered. I was told to go call the store and handle it myself. The store told me to go schedule my own delivery. The delivery company couldn't accommodate me (then again, customers are not supposed to be calling them). Corporate attempted to ignore my complaint and offered nothing for all this time and inconvenience. it's Father's Day and I have a toddler and infant - I don't have the time to be on the phone all day or wait for deliveries that are not arriving. I also desperately need a working washer machine - mine is currently leaking all over my basement but I can't disconnect it because I need to use it. I will never buy from Sears again based on the awful customer service. Update - 6/29: I've been back to the store and spoken to Customer Solutions multiple times and STILL no refund of my money. PLEASE do not buy from Sears, especially online - or from an outlet. They are quick to take your money but, I have been told, have difficulty refunding on a cancelled order. Update 7/5 - JUST got my refund today. Last weekend, a man from Sears called to sell us an extended warrantee on the machine we never received. He told us that there is a complaint line that customers cannot call but he could put us in touch with this department (a secret complaint department?) I received a call the next day from this department. Though that was Monday and I received my refund Thursday (today), the woman with who I spoke did NOTHING to convince me to ever shop at Sears again. I have to pay interest on my credit card because the refund took so long and Sears does NOT care. Supposedly my complaint is going to be addressed, but I doubt it. I even asked her why I should shop at Sears again and she had no answer.

I feel sorry for all the people who don't have trash compactors. It was still under warranty, but they charged for the service call. I was a little unhappy about that charge. He did an OK job repairing the compactor, but he came right out. I will used them again because no one else knows how to fix it.

My experience with them was horrible. They called me up and I think they gave me an appointment between 2:00 and 4:00. He then showed up at about 5:15. He was by himself and told me that there was too much work involved. I told him that I would assist him with my son. He told me that there was no light and I told him that there was a 500-watt lamp in the garage to help him. He still wasn’t willing to do the job because it would take him too much time. I called his office and spoke to the secretary named Barbara. She was very snippy with me and it seemed like she was trying to antagonize me. I was doing a lot of remodeling at home and had told her that. She told me that she could schedule an appointment for me the following week. I told her that was unacceptable. I hung up on her and called the boss. I told the boss what had happened. The person showed up after a week for the appointment. He didn’t want to work even though I offered to help. The boss told me that he would have somebody else install it on another date. I actually found someone that did it two days later instead of me waiting. Then they called me back and they wanted to do it on a Saturday, but I finally had it done on a Friday.
Description of Work: I used Sears to have my garage door opener installed.
