I took my BMW to Minh's for an oil change (which they did) and 30,000 mile checkup, thinking it would be cheaper than the dealer, and more personal.  The car was running beautifully, no problems.  The oil change was a bit cheaper, but they wanted to charge me over $2,000 for various items that they said were either necessary or recommended!!  They wanted to de-carbonize my engine, change every conceivable fluid (brake, power steering, coolant), change the cabin air filter and the engine air filter, and change the valve cover gasket, which they said was "sweating".  I did not authorize any of that work, but instead took it to Life Quality BMW, who examined the car (for free) and told me that none of these things were necessary or recommended.  They did not find any problem with the gasket.  I also spoke to the dealer from whom I had bought the car, in Richmond, Va., who told me that while direct injection engines do build up carbon over time, especially if you do not run them at high revs once in a while, there is no need for the expensive cleaning (with walnut shells, no less!) that Minh's recommended unless the engine isn't running well.  If you really want to clean out the carbon buildup in your engine, moreover, there are cheaper ways of doing it.  I will not be going back to Minh's anytime soon.



If you want a good independent mechanic in the neighborhood, go to Holy Land.  I take my other car there, and they're great!

I like their customer service. I don't know how to describe it but they were like very fun people and not creepy-ish.

It all went well. The work was needed and so had to be done and was done promptly.

The tuneup work was impressive. They checked everything out thoroughly and even washed the car. However they missed the fact that a fan was not working properly- this problem showed up after the fact. On subsequent visit, they checked the issue out (no charge). Fan replacement in November was expensive, but the shop was very responsive and the work was done professionally. They seem genuinely interested in establishing a long-term relationship with regards to servicing my old car. I will go back.

Minh's Auto Care Center is an excellent shop. They are a private shop. They really have a great set up with a number of garage base on the street. One can drive right in. The people at the auto shop are quick and effective in attending to their customers. I really appreciated their hands on service. They were personable as well. They were friendly and accommodating. They don’t mind me walking up to them asking questions. They are very professional. I would use them again in the future.

It was horrible. I knew what the problem was. I went there to do a computer check. They had my car all day and when I got there, the guy was having his lunch. He said that my car wasn’t ready. I did see that my car was in the street done, but I couldn’t talk to him because he was eating his lunch. They were thinking of keeping the car for the next day too to show me that they might have done something. That was like the worst. These guys shouldn’t even be in business. I was really pissed off with them and wouldn’t recommend them to anyone. The price was okay, but they didn’t do anything.
