Highly unprofessional and unreliable. The technician never showed up despite an appointment. Customer service person was not even aware that originally assigned technician swapped appointments. In the process, I spent the entire day waiting for the service call that never came. How can anyone use Lens to fix anything when the service is this UNRELIABLE!

I called Len's on Monday, and was told I could not get an appointment until Friday. I was further informed that someone would call on Friday morning to let me know when the service person was coming. On Friday at 10AM I called, and was told that they'd like to come on Monday instead. I was told that the tech people didn't check their appointments until the day-of, (making any reservation completely unreliable, also told that the guy had to drive a lot that day. The excuses were unprofessional and maddening. I have been a customer for more than ten years, had recommended Len to many others over those years and so this non-service was particularly surprising and galling. I will never call them again.

Roger is an excellent repairman but scheduling has become difficult. Took time off work to meet them for a morning appt. scheduler said they would call at 8:00, she didn't, could not get a commitment, finally said they would have to come in afternoon so I cancelled, big waste of time. I'm switching to someone else

After having a horrible experience with Superior/North Pole Cooling, we called Len's based on the Angie's List reviews. They were professional and did a much better job on the site visit/inspection. Unlike the other provider, they actually took the time to pull out our a/c units and look inside. They made an appointment for the following week and showed up right on time as promised. The work took a long time (pulling out a/c units, cleaning, replacing filters) and they were friendly and took time to do a good job. Would definitely use them again.

Len's Appliance Service performed a diagnostic session on my malfunctioning dishwasher and provided an estimate. They were very polite and professional. The estimate was for a new computer, which had to be ordered because they did not have the particular part in stock. I had to wait about a week for the part to be delivered but as soon as it was, they were back and had installed it and my machine has been working fine ever since. It was as smooth a transaction as could have been expected and I was very happy with the service, although the part was quite expensive. If, heaven forbid, I would need such services again, I wouldn't hesitate to call Len's Appliance Service.

Went well overall. Our 12 year old Bosch dishwasher stopped working. I called Len's Appliance Repair Friday morning, they said Tuesday was available. Technician came late morning, found a short, fixed it and charged us for an hour's work, $125 (applying the $75 service call fee to the charges). Pricing is rather high but got the job done.

I have used Len's Appliance 3 or 4 times over the last 3 years. Once to fix a Lieberr fridge that had a defective thermostat, once to fix a dying Whirlpool washer/dryer and once to fix a crappy 3rd party installation of a new washer/dryer. I dealt exclusively with their main repairman Roger and his apprentice and I have been unbelievably satisfied with the work. Roger comes on time and always calls ahead to give you warning that he is on his way. He cuts it straight with you and tells you up front what the repair will cost before he begins. He is extremely professional and clean. He pulled out my washer/dryer from my closet and used blankets to insure that my floors were not damaged. I suppose the one caveat is that they are not the cheapest game in town. $75 minimum for a visit plus additional labor and parts charges. But to me, you get what you pay for.
Description of Work: Fixed a Lieberr fridge that had a thermostat problem. Roger the repairman actually called up Lieberr's service rep and consulted with them on the best course of action. He also fixed my old Whirlpool Thin Twin washer/dryer when it had a dryer start button problem. Also re-installed a new Speed Queen washer dryer that was poorly installed by a third party appliance delivery company. They pulled the machine out and cleaned the exhaust vents etc.

The repair people are excellent. The problem gets fixed. They explain things well and provide additional tips and answer questions. My only problem is that you have to stay in touch with the office during the day to make sure you know the approximate arrival time.

Miele dishwasher required two trips because repair tool was unavailable on first trip. Repair to Viking range has since stopped working (right front burner will not light), and even though I asked for it to be looked at the repairman did not look at broiler which does not light quickly, so lots of gas comes out and eventually lights causing very loud noise and escaping gas by door. Len's used to be very reliable about booking but this time took lots of calls and confirmations by us not them. We have had at least one instance where we had a confirmed appt and they never showed and just turned on office answering machine, even though repair tech called.

On Wed., 6/3 I arrived home at 7 and saw that my freezer was at 29 degreed and my refrigerator at 56. It must have been that way for hours, because everythng in my freezer had melted. Around 10:30 I heard the motor kick in and the temps started to drop. I thought it still made sense to have it checked out. I called Len's Thursday morning, and described the above. The woman I spoke with said no one was available that day, but they would try to fit me in Friday. Friday my boyfriend gave them his cellphone number and said with some advance notice he could come home from work. Instead, they called my home number mid-afternoon and said they were in the neighborhood. We were then told someone would come Saturday, and we would get a call in the am with the time. No call. I called three times. Later, I got a call from a technician saying he would come in 5 mintues (I have had this issue with them before -- very hard to get a window of time, instead you get a call saying, I'm here). He came over. I described the problem as above, and as I had more than once on the phone. Without even touching the refrigerator he said he thought we should wait and see if it was still OK over the weekend, and if so, he thought it would be fine. I said OK. He was there less than 5 minutes. The refrigerator continued to run fine. I then got a bill for $90 plus tax. I called and said that if he had actually inspected the refrigerator and perfomed a diagnosis I would have no problem paying the service fee, but it seemed grossly excessive for less than five minutes, and something that I could have told when I called. The woman I spoke with was very sympathetic, but said I had to speak to the owner. I called 6/19 and spoke to a man who said that was the service fee and nothing could be done about it. I think a major reduction would have been in order. Between the scheduling problems and this, I will not be using them again.

the nearest appt they could give me was a day and a half away from my initial call. was told they would be with me between 12 pm and 5pm, turned up at 3 pm and it took him (John) an hour to fix. Gave me loads of tips on how to use/maintain the dishwasher (and my washing machine). Very helpful and good service.

I was impressed by how nice the receptionist was when I called. I was really surprised when she told me they could come the next day. They were a little late (30 minutes) but apparently the project before us was a bear. Also, if they were as thorough with the previous person as they were with us, it was worth it. They were polite, got straight to work and were nice to our pug who likes to "help." They thought they found the source of the problem and tested the machine. (you put a cup upright in the top shelf to test how quickly it fills with water.) The cup filled quickly but they were afraid it wasn't fast enough. They called and consulted with someone else and then took the entire metal casing off to make sure they hadn't missed anything. Sure enough they found a very clogged pipe and cleaned that out. I was so so impressed with the fact that they made the extra effort to double check that they hadn't missed anything. They were so thorough and I really appreciated it. They put everything back together -- the kitchen looked fine and I felt their charge --$125 for the visit $50 for work and a replacement piece they had in the truck was reasonable. We would absolutely use them again. Strongly recommend!
Description of Work: We live in Manhattan and have a GE Nautilus dishwasher (the kind that gets its water by being connected to the kitchen sink.) The problem started with food still being stuck on the dishes and by the time we called Len's the dishwasher detergent was sticking on the glasses and plates and we couldn't get it off. The problem was the water lines had become clogged and LENS had to wiggle into a tiny kitchen and figure out 1. what the problem was and 2. how to fix it. At first they took all the different vents off from the inside of the dishwasher. At the end they had to take the entire metal "jacket" off of the dishwasher so they could find additional clogged vents. In the end it worked great. They did a great job.

How did it go? They saved me $1000 after talking me into having the repairman show up at my doorstep! I can not be more pleased... these people are amazing and they have ALL of my business.
Description of Work: These folks saved me $1000!! My oven would not heat to over 250 degrees; I'd get an error message and the oven would not "do it's thing." After going to Angie's List, I found two service providers. The first team of two people came over, looked at the oven and told me that it was "shot" and that I needed to buy a NEW oven. Ugh. I just assumed they were right. But I got a return call from Len's...and the great guy on the phone TALKED ME INTO HAVING HIS REPAIRMAN COME BY...because he'd never found an oven he couldn't repair. Well, John (the repairman) came by and simply said that the computer needed to be reset; he did the work in 5 minutes!! The oven was fixed.

The dishwasher had low water flow, so it automatically turned off the water to avoid flooding. The problem occurred because a plumber had turned off the water valve and did not turn it back on fully. Roger from Len's was always courteous and professional. He reset the float and ran the dishwasher to make sure it worked properly. He then checked the ice maker and recommended that it be replaced. He ordered the parts and followed up to schedule the installation when he had a coworker available to help move the refrigerator.That happened a week later to accommodate my availability. When the men moved the refrigerator I noted a desire to clean behind it. As the work proceeded I became busy with an important phone call. When I was done the men had finished the job and rolled the refrigerator back, and Roger showed me that he cleaned where I wanted.
