Big Apple Moving and storage is a full service moving and storage company in New York City. We are thoroughly experienced and offer expert service in all phases of local and long distance moving. We also offer storage at our local High Security facility for as long or as short as you need; you can stay with us anywhere from one week to some time in the indeterminate future. I needed to vacate my apartment quickly (next day) and Big Apple Moving was very accommodating. They helped me to work through how much storage space I would need for the move and agreed to furnish moving boxes and to pack extra items as needed. The movers were prompt and finished the move in less time than estimated, saving me money. Although I was paying an hourly rate for five moving men, those guys were incredible. They took 8-10 boxes at a time down the stairs from my first floor walk up apartment and finished the move amazingly quickly. Please consider this company for your moving needs.

I hired someone local to help with my packing. In general I needed far more "regular sized" boxes than I thought, and although Big Apple delivered the boxes-which was a help, I found that Home Depot had boxes and tape at cheaper prices which started to become important as the number of boxes grew.

I can't praise this company highly enough. I called them last minute as I was having major work done in my overfurnished apartment and it became clear after a couple of weeks that it was too difficult for the contractors to manage around all my stuff even though they tried their best. Big Apple showed up on time, managed to get my furniture out from under drop cloths, wrap it, get it out and into storage in record time. They easily could have taken twice as long as they did and I wouldn't have thought twice about it. When they brought my furniture back a month later, it was pristine and again they moved it in, unwrapped it, took the wrappings with them, in record time. The movers were polite, friendly and professional. I think the foreman's name was Steve, and he was a perfectionist, even pointing out to me a problem with one of my tables that clearly was not their doing. Their office staff is friendly and professional as well, and not above answering repeat questions. If I ever need this type of service again, or a regular move, I'm not getting estimates, I'm just calling Big Apple.

The crew was great and they were very careful with everything. They were very friendly, they were very helpful, and they went out of their way. I had a lot of stuff and a lot heavy things but there were no complaints from the crew; they just did their job. They actually took apart and rebuilt some of my furniture like my bed and entertainment center and they did an excellent job with that. This was my second time using them; I used them about five years before and that?s why I called them for this move also. I thought the price was reasonable.

Below average. First of all, they charged us about about $150 more than their estimate. They included $134 for the travel time that they didn't mention previously. The guys were nice and tried to be helpful but they took a couple of pieces of furniture apart and didn't try or weren't able to put them back together correctly. They also put some pretty bad scratches and dings in several pieces of furniture and broke one of our speakers.

"THE ESTIMATE GIVEN TO THIS CUSTOMER WAS $703.00 WITH MOVING SUPPLIES. THE MOVING JOB CAME OUT TO $986.13 ABOUT 20% OVER THE ESTIMATED COST, WHICH IS 1 ¼ HOURS MORE THAN ESTIMATED. THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT A RIP OFF. IT WAS JUST A JOB THAT TOOK LONGER THAN EXPECTED. THE CUSTOMER STATES “THE MOVERS TOOK FURNITURE APART AND DIDN’T TRY OR WEREN’T ABLE TO ASSEMBLE IT’. HOW CAN THE CUSTOMER NOT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE OF NOT TRYING TO PUT THE FURNITURE TOGETHER AND NOT BEING ABLE TO PUT IT TOGETHER? IF WE ‘DID NOT TRY” HE WOULD SEE US NOT TOUCHING THE FURNITURE. IF WE “WEREN’T ABLE” HE WOULD SEE US TRYING BUT NOT ABLE TO DO IT. THAT STATEMENT ALONE SAYS SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THIS COMPLAINT. WHEN WE ARRIVED THE SUPERVISOR AGAIN EXPLAINED TRAVEL TIME TO THE CUSTOMER. WHEN WE WERE FINISHED MOVING SOMEONE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ARGUED WITH US THAT “THEY” WERE NEVER TOLD ABOUT TRAVEL TIME. WE NEVER TOLD HIM BECAUSE WE NEVER SAW HIM. THIS COMPLAINT LETTER IS THE FIRST THAT WE HEARD ABOUT ANY DAMAGE. IT WAS NEVER MENTIONED TO THE SUPERVISOR OR THE OFFICE. WHAT REALLY HAPPENED IS THAT THIS CUSTOMER SAID WE DID NOT MENTION TRAVEL TIME: WE DID. I PERSONALLY GAVE THIS ESTIMATE, AND I HAVE BEEN TELLING MY CUSTOMERS ABOUT TRAVEL TIME FOR 27 YEARS. IT SEEMS TO ME THE CUSTOMER WAS ANGRY THAT I WOULD NOT TAKE THE TRAVEL TIME CHARGE OFF THE BILL; HENCE THE COMPLAINT."

This was my first time moving & I did not know what to expect from a moving company. I received my estimate & the crew arrived at 10 am to start my job, the crew chief took a look in my apartment & from then on everything was just being moved. The movers were well coordinated, they worked so well together & the move came in $15 over my estimate. I was very pleased with this company & the crew on my move.

I THOUGHT THIS COMPANY DID A GREAT JOB. THEY WORKED VERY HARD AND GOT THE JOB DONE IN ONE DAY, SO WE WERE VERY HAPPY WITH THAT. NOTHING WAS BROKEN OR LOST IN THE PROCESS, SO WE HAVE RECOMMENDED THEM MANY TIMES TO PEOPLE IN THE AREA.
