Shleppers was a great choice for our small Center for Children with Autism when we unfortunately had to shut down. They were very responsive and available for communication from the start to the finish. On moving day, they were impressively quick and efficient. Everyone I interacted with was very kind, understanding, and supportive throughout the process. Not to mention, they were also the least expensive of the several moving companies we contacted.

We were very pleased with Schleppers Moving & Storage. The crew that Schleppers ssent was amazing. Augustine, Carlos and Danny were very respectful and curteous. My wife and I enjoyed working wih them. They wer extremely careful with our belongings. The move was long distance from Oceanside Ny to Bath NY. It went very smoothly. In April 2024, we contracted with Shelpers Moving and Storage, located at 434 East 165th Street, Bronx, NY 10456. The move went smoothly, and we were initially happy with the service. The crew was professional and efficient, so we generously gave the crew a 20% tip. However, during the move, one of our bedroom nightstands was broken. I notified the team lead, and he took pictures of the broken nightstand before the movers left. The real issue began when we tried to address the damage. The very next day, I contacted Yesenia from their customer service department to process a claim. After submitting the claim form and following up the next day, she said everything was complete. A month later, when I followed up again, Yesenia told me she could no longer find the claim form. I resubmitted it, following up three weeks later and hearing the same story—she could not find the form. Once again, I resubmitted the claim and asked her to acknowledge receipt, which she did. She then informed me that processing the claim would take 120 days. I have yet to hear back from them. I gave them a courtesy call last week and told them I was still waiting to hear back from them. At this point, I’m not even concerned about the money for the damaged nightstand. What bothers me most is the poor customer service and lack of professionalism throughout this process. This is just bad business ethics. We would not recommend Shelpers based on this experience.

Worst moving company ever! They showed up 4 hours late, damaged multiple items, caused an accident in my home that led to me sustaining a personal injury that has cost me $100’s in medical bills, horrible customer service and no willingness to resolve the issue of lost items in the storage unit that they moved me into unless I paid them more money, told me I couldn’t submit a claim for losses until I moved out of the storage unit. After speaking with my lawyer he recommend I put in a claim immediately. It’s been 6 weeks since I submitted the claim and the only thing they will tell me is they have 120 days to get back to me. I also ended up helping them for 2 hours unloading the truck into the actual storage until because they were running so far behind and the facility would lock before they’d be able to complete the job. An absolute nightmare of an experience that I just want closed out and put behind me. Go anywhere else you can - not Schleppers for your move!

Shleppers sets themselves apart from other companies by arriving in person and providing an accurate assessment of my moving needs and a hard quote (as opposed to some other companies who only provided a virtual and possibly tentative quote). On the morning of my move, the movers were ontime and incredibly hard-working. THE WORST MOVES OF OUR LIVES. Do not trust Shleppers with your goods. We had Schleppers move the entire contents of our home/apartment on March 3, 2023, and move it into storage in one of your storage facilities. On September 15, 2023, we spent 4 hours Facetime with the storage facility. During that FaceTime call, we carefully reviewed what items would remain in storage and which should be delivered to the apartment. They were to deliver the contents of our bedroom and bathroom and the coats from the front hall closet. On the day they came to deliver, it became apparent that they were delivering the contents of the entire apartment. Most boxes were not labeled by room, and most were not labeled with the contents. I had to stop the movers and tell them to take back what remained in the truck because I was overwhelmed with boxes and had no idea what was in them or where they should go. All these boxes were stacked in my bedroom along all the walls except where the bed was. We were told we could only report damage once all the boxes were delivered and we had gone through their contents. Everything has been delivered, and all of the boxes have been opened. We have taken photos of all the damaged and broken items and labeled the photos. This has been the worst move of my life! I have moved ten times, five of them whole houses with all of our belongings. I had one piece of furniture damaged in those moves, and nothing else!!! All fragile/breakable items were wrapped in paper and surrounded by corrugated cardboard. They were packed together without other heavy objects that could damage them. Every box was labeled by room and contents. This move was completely different. The most horrendous damage was to an antique replica bureau that had a leg (not a fragile leg) broken off, and then someone screwed it back on with metal screws and plates, ruining it further. You cannot do something like that without advising us!! They also damaged the leg of a bedroom dresser, which is so broken that if it is moved, it will break off. Most of the wood furniture has deep and superficial scratches. They packed ceramic plates we collected from trips in different countries in light paper with heavy metal objects, which were broken into pieces. They put highly breakable small objects in boxes with other heavy objects, and nothing was wrapped; they just put them in a box, and so many items were chipped and broken. All of the framed photos I had on my bedroom bureau of my children’s birth, wedding, and milestone pictures cushion, none of which were wrapped. The remaining 14 framed art pieces were unwrapped in one box so that almost everyone was badly nicked and scratched. These are the worst. You can review the photos to see the rest of the damage. We were told that you would look for our missing belongings, but we have not heard back from Schleppers since I reported these incidents by phone. It is an understatement to say we are disappointed with how our possessions were treated and the damage they incurred. They have not even acknowledged that they can’t find it. We are devastated!

Shleppers are the WORST moving company I have ever used and I would highly recommend you look elsewhere for your moving needs. Their service and support have dramatically declined from when I used them several years ago. Firstly, they sent me a very small truck to move the entire contents of a 1 bedroom apt (they will claim it was based on what I told them I was moving and how many boxes – even though they did not ask for any sizing or measurements). I had to get an additional U-Haul last minute. On top of all that and Shleppers refusing to get a bigger truck or send another one (or even give me a reduced rate on another rental), the movers ruined my velvet sofa by slashing their box cutters into the “protective” film they put on it to prevent damage! So careless. Shleppers offered me $60!! Insulting (again they will tell you they only pay for the weight of an item, not its actual value – so prepared for a 4K sofa to be ruined and then be offered $60). To accept the $60 would have prevented me from being able to write any reviews about them….no thank you.

I have moved at least 6 times in my life (I'm 74 now), and I can say that Shleppers was easily my favorite moving company. Unlike all other movers, Shleppers makes you feel like you're part of the family and that you're the most important client. After the sales rep (Nissim) makes a personal visit to provide an estimate, he lets you know that you can change your mind about what will be moved and what will stay behind at any time during the scheduling process and the change will be reflected in the new price. The guys who actually moved us were very kind and friendly. They were willing to put the furniture anywhere you asked, even when you changed your mind. They worked quickly and carefully without damaging anything. Everything was carefully wrapped. Finally, of the four other movers I interviewed for the job, Shleppers had the best price. I unconditionally recommend Shleppers for your next move.

During the recent, late September rainstorms that hit the New York Metropolitan area, a basement storage unit we were using for archival materials for our not-for-profit (until we could move them to our new office) got flooded. Thankfully, the damage was not too bad. But we had to clean up and move out – within a day! – and deliver everything from the Bronx to our office in the Flatiron District. Knowing that this was a rushed, last-minute request – it was already early afternoon when we finally got everything out of the storage unit and packed into dry boxes – I called a few movers whose names and address I found online. Schleppers was the only one that was willing and able to accommodate us, right away, that day. They also did so without charging us much of a premium for a rush job – and given that it was clear that we were really caught between a flooded basement and a hard place. The two movers who helped us were cool, cheerful, careful, precise, and as professional as it gets. They braved the avenues and the traffic of rush-hour Manhattan, and then unloaded and moved everything up into our office in time for us to have dinner. In other words, Schleppers trully saved the day for us. Thanks, folks!
