The first few meetings with the vice president, Mr Charley Hudson, were very professional, all aspects of the job were explained in detail with pictures and examples of work performed on other houses. We were given an estimate, which was about $5,000.00 more than the next nearest bid but we felt we were going to get highly skilled craftsman and high quality work with extreme attention to detail. I had explained to Mr Hudson that i am extremely particular and will be critical of the work being performed and mentioned that i would not settle for anything less than perfect and was willing to pay his price without negotiation, and he assured me it would be a high quality job. The roof was done first and 90% finished in the first day and the rest finished within the week. The chimney flashing was supposed to be replaced and was included in the contract but after the roof was done, I was told it did not need replacement and I trusted there assessment. There was no refund of any money for not replacing the flashing. The following week the siding was started. All of the aluminum gutters and vents that were removed were stored on the ground in my children s swing set area leaving hundreds of nails and screws in the mulch under their swings. I had to remove this and cleanup all the hardware. During the removal of the cedar shingles the chimney flashing, that was supposed to be replaced, was ripped off the chimney and left hanging, This was brought to the attention of Mr Hudson, but never addressed. I had to make necessary repairs to prevent water damage to my porch ceiling from rain. Throughout the process I would have to inspect the work every day when i got home from work and make a list of problems I noticed and email it to Mr Hudson. I had to ask three times, for the dryer vent to be installed properly., if i had not noticed this our dryer would have been venting into our basement. Some of the problems were addressed eventually, but I felt the foreman should have done his own quality control and not me, I am not a contractor/carpenter. Upon completion of the front rake trim I noticed the roof shingles above the trim were cut too short and there was no overhang, my wife also noticed a broken shingle from when the pump jacks were removed. When i called the company they sent a siding guy, not a roofer, to make the repairs and all he did was loosen all the edge shingles and pull them forward over the trim, leaving many exposed nail heads, excessive gaps, and holes where the nails pulled through. After sending pictures and emails to the company they sent another repair man, which was rude to my wife, and he said there was nothing wrong with the roof. It took three weeks of phone calls, emails, and pictures to get a qualified person to repair my brand new roof properly. When the gutters were installed a gutter was added to a section of roof where I had asked there not to be one. This was discussed on at least two separate occasions. When the piece of gutter was removed there were now exposed holes in my new siding and pvc trim. These pieces were supposed to be replaced but never were. After final inspection i noticed about 8 window screens that were damaged and my ac cover was damaged, the company did take care of this without hesitation. When I received the final itemized bill i noticed it included $1625.00 for wrapping of all trim with aluminum trim coil, I opted for replacement with pvc trim and paid for pvc trim. I asked why I was charged for wrapping of trim when i paid to have the trim replaced. We were told that we signed a contract with a stipulated price. The original contract was not itemized like the bill i received at the end of the job. I feel we were overcharged $1625.00. Overall I feel i payed above average for below average work.
