I would not use Classic Remodeling Group in the future. Their workmanship is extremely poor and the lack of responsiveness after listing my grievances to the owner was frustrating.
The sanding & staining of the first floor looked great. The owner, John Lilikas, said they used the same stain on the second floor bedroom, as I had requested, but the color ended up being entirely different than the first floor. The owner said this is due to the different type of wood on the second floor, but the discrepancy in color wasn't brought to my attention until the job was complete, as I wasn't living in the house at the time of the remodeling. It would have been good to know that the color would have been different because of the woods before completing the work so I can select a different color stain.
Secondly, I had them replace the existing wood walls in the 2nd floor bedroom with sheetrock and then they were to paint the sheetrock. When the work was done, there were clearly different dimensions in the replacement walls because now I have gaps in between the new walls and the ceiling and floor, live wires sticking out between the gaps, and electrical outlet boxes protruding out of the walls. In addition, the electrical outlet and light switch faceplates were not replaced and was no where to be found after the work was complete, so I had to replace those. John attributed this also to the different dimensions and thickness in the old walls vs. the new walls. There was also a huge spot on the new wall where paint was not applied, so just overall shoddy work.
The biggest complaint is the clean up. They removed the 2nd floor bedroom radiator and sliding closet doors in order to sand the floors and replace the walls. When the work was done, the radiator and closet doors were not put back. I had to call John in again and his guys were able to reattach the closet doors the same day, but the connector for the radiator went missing so they couldn't replace that. When I brought it to John's attention, he reached out to the guys he used and none of them stated that they had the connector. What was more strange was that it initially seemed that he was implying that the detached radiator wasn't his overall responsibility because his workers stated they didn't take it. My message to him was that the radiator was clearly attached before the job and now it's not attached after the job, so of course it would be his responsibility. He then agreed to take care of it the following weekend.
After not hearing from him a week later, I followed up with him (Sept. 3). He said that his guys were off for the labor day weekend and hence, would get back to me the following week. A week goes by and I was left to follow up with him again (Sept 12) and he told me he's looking for the piece from a few plumbing stores and would get back to me. No response for a couple of days, so I reach back out to him again (Sept 14) and he tells me he couldn't get to it because him and his wife just had a baby, to which I told him I completely understood. Finally, on Sept 21, after a week of not hearing back and a month since the work was complete, I finally sent him a scathing email, listing the number of problems I've found in the company's work and lack of responsiveness, and he finally got back to me. Two days later, he had the radiator re-attached. The missing patch of paint, gaps in the walls, live wires coming out of the outlets and the wall gaps have yet to be addressed, and I don't expect to hear from Classic regarding this since a month has gone by without any contact. This 2nd floor bedroom is my infant daughter's room, and it looks like the least finished room in the house.
Overall, the work they perform is shoddy, the workers that John uses to do the work are not professionals at all. They littered the backyard with garbage and plastic bottles after the work was complete, drank several beverages in the refridgerator (which I don't mind, a little notice would have been nice), and the debris was never carted away as was referenced in the contract-they just bagged it up and put it on the side of the house for me to take care of.
Just an overall terrible experience. If needed, I can provide pictures as proof of their work.
