Horrible experience. This company installed our hvac unit incorrectly. Because they flipped the coil and botched the installation, we now have an infestation of mold within the entire HVAC system. We had a lennox representative verify this, and he provided us with the attached paperwork, stating that the incorrect installation by New Mechanical Systems led to an overgrowth of moisture, condensation and mold. Because New mechanical Systems had such poor workmanship, the drain pan failed as well, and left us with an entire leak that caved in our daughters bedroom ceiling. New mechanical system will not even acknowledge are claim. Steer clear of this company.

STAY AWAY from New Tech! This place tried to take advantage of us being new homeowners and tried to overcharge us by several hundred dollars. We signed up for a maintenance contract with New Tech so that they could come out and take care of both our Central AC and heating systems. They charged us $350 a year to maintain both systems. This April, a tech came out to maintain our air conditioner. The guy spent over 2 hours at our house. He said everything was working, and left. It was about 60 degrees outside when he came, so we couldn't tell if the AC was working, but we believed him and he went on his way. We paid the cost of the contract. Then the temperatures started climbing. We turned on our AC for the first time on Father's Day in June. AC was blowing hot air. We cranked down the thermostat all the way, and the temperature kept climbing. The longer we left on the AC, the hotter it became inside. So, we called New Tech the next day. We were told they couldn't come out for several days. Also, they said that we needed to pay for a service call. I told them that we hadn't used the AC since they first did the maintenance (it was COLD outside after all, and my wife and I had been away on vacation), and that we didn't want to pay for a separate service call, because they should have fixed whatever was broken on the system when they came in April. No good. We have to pay a minimum of $150 for the hour-long-call, and $150 an hour for every hour after that. Desparate, I agreed. They scheduled us for the "second stop of the day." I took the day off and waited. And waited. And at almost 3pm, the tech arrived. Within 10 minutes of being there, he diagnosed the problem: the capacitor. Here's the exchange, nearly word for word: Me: "How do you know it's the capacitor?" Tech: "It looks bloated." Me: "Why didn't you notice it the first time?" Tech: "Maybe it went the instant you turned it on on Father's Day. It's possible that it wasn't bad when I visited in April." Me: "Do you have the part on the truck?" Tech: "No. But I can go get it in Melville. But if I drive to get it now, because of traffic at this time of day, it will probably take me 2 hours to get there and back. So, you will get charged another 2 hours of labor. And, also, I get paid overtime after 4-4:30pm. So, the second hour will cost you $187/hour, instead of the regular $150/hour. Do you want me to drive to get it?" Me: "So, are you telling me that because you came to my house late, you want to charge me more money than if you were to have done this job in the morning?" Tech: "Well, yeah, but that's not up to me. That's what the office says." Me: "You understand why I don't want to do that, right? And by the way, we definitely weren't your second stop, right? We were probably number five." Tech: "I understand. But the office sets my schedule. And no, you definitely my second stop." Me: "Well, what happens if I want to pick up the part myself. Will they sell it to me?" Tech: "No. They definitely won't sell you THAT part." I spoke with the office, and they told me the same thing. So, I told them to leave. I later tracked down a place that sold capacitors, and guess what? They sold it to me. So in sum: (1) New Tech tried to charge us over $400 in labor to make a repair that they should have caught on their first maintenance visit. (2) New Tech told us that we would be the second stop, and the tech admitted that we were not his second stop. (3) The tech told me that the store wouldn't sell this part to me, and then the store sold it to me. (4) I later fixed the problem myself. 10 minutes of work, and a $15 part. (5) New Tech still sent us a bill for the $150 visit even though they didn't do anything. (6) We subsequently called in another company to inspect our heating system, and that company told us that New Tech also failed to diagnose a problem with our heating system. I told the new guy that we had someone else inspect the system, and asked if New Tech should have caught that problem. He said "Absolutely. That's one of the first things you check." I will never use New Tech again.
