In full review of your program, however, we performed a complimentary soil pH test, resulting in a reading of 6.0. We provided this reading to you, along with the service recommendation to bring the soil to a more neutral and healthy level. As we understand that your soil’s health will greatly contribute to how the lawn will respond at a surface level, we place great emphasis on the condition of your soil. The recommendation was not accepted and according to program records, limestone was not requested to be applied by us since 2011. We know that moss has been an ongoing issue and have provided multiple service notes and recommendations, such as raking, and seeding. Also, there was a note on each invoice left to please raise mower height to 3 inches as mowing too short was a concern to us. Depending upon the technician that showed up to apply services, (i.e. numerous fertilizers, core aeration, overseeding, limestone, etc.) during the year, some were great, some were ok. The ok tech missed some areas as my lawn will attest to because dandelions were absent all around the perimeter in our back yard but very abundant in the middle. Also the driveway and sidewalks had fertilizer left on them.

We take our responsibility to be good stewards of the environment seriously, and that is reflected in the quality of the fertilizers that we use. We use the latest in slow release fertilizer technology not simply because the results are superior to that of quick release fertilizer, but because less of that fertilizer is lost to volatilization into the atmosphere or leaching into groundwater. A beautiful lawn is the result of adhering to a program that addresses all of the lawn’s needs over the course of a season, indeed from season to season. One application does not a lawn care program make. We select our seed mixtures based upon the reviews conducted by the National Turfgrass Evaluation Program, a research effort conducted at many university test plots across the country that judge the performance of various turfgrass cultivars. The results and effectiveness of overseeding are best judged over a much longer period of time than would be apparent. New seedlings have to be given the opportunity to grow and mature before they can begin the process of outcompeting the established turfgrass in a lawn. In fact, the best results are obtained when overseeding is conducted on an annual basis, not just once in a while. I see you have recently cancelled your services for this year to do some landscaping on your lawn.
