Rental property had lawn issues exacerbated by absentee tenant and lawn needed to be replaced. There were low spots in the back yard that needed to be filled and exposed tree roots that needed to be covered. Because of a positive experience with sister company, Quality Curb, called Legends Landscaping to provide an estimate. I thought the price was reasonable so I went ahead with the job, without obtaining other quotes. Originally scheduled for about four weeks out, they were able to accelerate start in only two weeks, which I appreciated as was concerned about a potential early onset of cold weather. Work took three days and looks great. Job entailed modest but necessary border changes to backyard which necessitated replacement of existing lawn curbing. Crew did a fantastic clean up job. The foreman, was easy to work with and responsive. Would recommend.
"Last year, Mr. [member name removed] initially contacted Legends Landscaping for an estimate to give to his insurance company for the repair/replacement of pavers in his driveway that he said had been damaged by lightning. When the estimator explained that the ruts in his pavers could not possibly have been caused by lightning, we were told that we were only to provide the estimate and it was up to the insurance company to decide the cause. He subsequently requested an estimate for repair/replacement of his irrigation because lightning had caused it to be fragile and non-functioning. An estimate was given to replace valves and wiring, and the project was requested and completed. At that time, Mr. [member name removed] left for a month. Upon his return, we received a call about a leak and a repair tech was dispatched to discover a fitting with a 450 psi rating had broken mysteriously. The mystery was due to the fact that the type of tape found on the area is not a type we ever use, suggesting that the pipe had been tampered/manipulated by others. None the less, we made the repairs at no charge to Mr. [member name removed]. Mr. [member name removed] requested reimbursement for two and a half times his water bill for the month and for repair/repainting of siding on the entire front side of his house that he claimed had been warped because of the water from the leak hitting it. When we contacted the painter who had done the recent exterior painting for Mr. [member name removed], we were told that the “warping” existed at the time he painted the house. Mike Schuhmacher., along with an independent home inspector, met with Mr. [member name removed] to further investigate the “damage”. The inspector said that the warping was apparent in other areas of the exterior of the home not affected by the water leak so it hadn’t been caused by water from the irrigation. At that time, Mr. [member name removed] became extremely agitated, screaming and using profanity and requested that Mike and the inspector leave his property. Shortly after that, Mr. [member name removed] began to send emails and text messages threatening to sue us. We received notification that Mr. [member name removed]had filed a complaint with the Nevada Contractor’s Board, and following a meeting with Mr. [member name removed] and Mike Schuhmacher, the investigator dismissed the complaint because he came to the same conclusion as the home inspector. The condition of the siding in the area of the leak was consistent with the siding all around the home, with normal imperfections expected with the type and age of the siding. After the contractor’s board dismissed the complaint, Legends, in an effort to create good will, sent Mr. [member name removed] a check in November 2014 to pay a portion of his water bill - calculated after researching his water use in the same time period of prior years. Mr. [member name removed] sent an email saying that the check would never be cashed and he would “delight” in filing additional claims in other jurisdictions. The check was ultimately cashed. It’s unfortunate but, despite our best efforts, we will never be able to make Mr. [member name removed] happy."
"Our records indicate that you had asked to have the clean up done the week of 5/25 and we were out to your home on 5/27. It is noted on the paperwork that we had made a call and left a message that we would be out that day, but we apologize if there was any miscommunication on our part. According to our work order, you had specifically requested a maximum of 4 man hours be spent on the cleanup which is what we stick to unless told otherwise. Our workers are instructed to do the most amount of work they’re able within the allotted time. You have indicated that amount charged was $300, however our records show that you were billed just under $165. Our goal is always to provide the best possible customer service. We do wish that you had you called the office at the time of service if you were not completely satisfied with the clean up provided. We would have made every effort to work with you on getting the other work completed."
We had a fabulous landscaper in CT and maybe we were spoiled by that experience. They set the bar for excellence and the closest we've come to come to replicating their work was with El Reyo Landscaping from Carson City (see their review).
This review isn't based on Legends mistakes, but a combination of errors, lack of creativity and their designer's(?) limited knowledge. We didn't find Signature, All Seasons or SummerScape any better. Gail Willey's rep. was very nice, seemed knowledgeable and thorough, but never sent the quote.
