Very well. Temo cared about not making a big mess and cleaned up area very well. He put down plastic to protect carpet and surfaces. I truly will have him back for some more home improvements in the future.

I called Temo from 1 Call Handyman and he came out to do the estimate the next day, which was a Saturday by the way. Within a few days, the fence was standing again and it was very well done. Temo and his associate were very professional and timely. And fencing is not all these guys do! You need work done? Call Temo and get an estimate. I will use them again and recommend them to everyone I know. Thanks Temo.

We were not in a huge rush for this job and allowed Mr. Castillo time to work on it between his other projects.  However, he was finished sooner than expected and the table he built for us is very special.  Not only did he help us repurpose the stained glass that was part of the home we purchased, we now have a custom patio table that easily seats six.  He brought the table to us unfinished so we could choose our own stain, which was quite an adventure.  If I had it to do over again I would have asked that he surprise us and do this part too (I would have gladly paid to not have to squat for so long to stain and seal this table).  However, now that it is done we are very happy to have it.  

The cost for the project includes labor ($30/hour) and materials.  All the wood needed to be replaced and we agreed on redwood ahead of time.

We have been very happy with the work Mr. Castillo has performed.  Our first priority project was to replace two sections of fencing to accommodate a large dog and small child - both of which need to be contained to their yard.  We also had a broken post.  Mr. Castillo was prompt in completing this project and we are very happy with the results.  Our entire family can now enjoy the yard at our new home.  

Following the fencing projects Mr. Castillo spent nearly a week in and out of our home prior to our moving in.  We had a 2-page list of mostly small projects to get the home ready for our family.  These projects included adding a section of tile near the front entry (which was beautifully executed using existing tiles we found in the garage), and replacing the backdoor, which was completely rotted due to rain.  Mr. Castillo pointed out to us that the lack of rain gutters above the door was contributing to the problems with the backdoor and in addition to replacing the door he added rain gutters to alleviate future problems.  We are very appreciative of this attention to detail and foresight.  

The list of indoor projects Mr. Castillo completed was lengthy and most were projects we could have tackled ourselves but having someone around to help allowed us to focus on moving.  For some projects, we purchased the supplies and for others Mr. Castillo purchased supplies and provided receipts for reimbursement.  

We agreed on a price of $30/hour for all projects other than the fencing, which was $600 plus material costs.  

I have no doubt that we will keep a running list of projects and when the list is long enough we will call on Mr. Castillo to return to help us out.  He has been a calm and friendly presence amongst the chaos of our move.  He is professional and prompt, and has been very respectful of our home.  I look forward to working with him again. 

He was pricey charging $600 labor for two men and a morning's work but I felt it was worth it as he placed the fence two days after the bid, working on a Sunday morning and was efficient and did a nice job. Because the fence was a necessary safety issue to keep small children out of the pond I felt it was worth the price to get it done asap and he did it just the way I asked.

After purchasing service from Angie's List and telephoning vendor, the call was returned promptly, and Temo was on-site the same afternoon to examine fence damage and provide estimate.   Repair was completed within 2 days.   Good attention to detail, and quality of work/repair excellent.

Great work for a great price! Part of my fence, including a gate, completely blew over in one of the recent storms. After seeing all the good reviews for 1 Call Handyman, I called them on a Friday afternoon. Temo Castillo, the owner, came to my house the next morning, on a Saturday. He looked at the fallen fence and gave me an estimate to replace the post and put the fence back together. I requested that he also replace some old fence broads that had broken when the fence fell over, and some boards that the previous owner had installed that were the wrong kind of wood (they didn't match the rest of the fence). He came back the next weekend and fixed/replaced everything that needed to be done. My fence is back up and even sturdier than before the storm. He new which kind of fence boards to get to match the rest of the fence. After I saw that he did a good job, I also hired him for doing the drywall and plaster finishing on the interior or a large window I had installed, which he also did well, but I'll put that in a separate review since it was a different job. It is nice to be able to call someone who knows how to do many kinds of building work and do it well.

Was supposed to start work in 2 weeks and never bothered to call or email. Simply ignored his commitment.

I got the quote then called him back to schedule.  Never got a call back.  Before that, calls were a little flaky, so I should've known.

Jose did most of the work with help just to take stuff to dump. He arrived when he told us he would but two times Temo was supposed to show up, he never came. We waited all day and he was a no show. This was for repairs to walls. He told us he had an emergency. The emergency was that another job had a roof that was leaking and it was rain that week. So my job was stalled. I had to stay after them and push to make sure everything was done before cabinet company came to put in new cabinets. They were painting the very morning the cabinet installers arrived - not good. Cabinet installers messed up the paint since it was wet. We had to fix that ourselves. The texture they sprayed on the job was not the right one. Ours was "orange peel" and they put on one that did not match so it is noticable. The texture guy was there only about 1/2 hr to do the job and was rushing through. Therefore, he splattered it on the paint in the kitchen. We had to fix that too. It was splattered all over the kitchen paint which we paid a lot of money to paint less than a year ago. When the cabinet company arrived to install, they noticed a chunk of wall board that was not fixed, so there was a hole in the wall and you could see the insulation. He said that was not a professional job and it had to be fixed first. This held up the job. Also, they never fixed the rough areas on the wall near the breakfast bar where the corbels were removed. It was a shoddy job to say the least.
The next day after they were done, they came by to collect the money. The cabinets were being installed and I took Jose in to show him all the problems with their job. He really did not say much. I told him I would not pay until cabinets were in (took 2 days) to make sure no other problems were to show up. He came back early in morning a few days later.
Jose came to collect at 7am. I was not dressed yet so my husband went to the door and handed them a check. Jose said, he was charging more, $750 more (almost double) because he had to cut one pipe vent and move one extra outlet. There is no way it would cost this and he did not have me sign anything that there would be extra cost involved. To do these two extra items, it took him 1/2 hr more - no way could it cost that much. Every repairman I have dealt with would add an addendum to the original quote and have the home owner sign it so that it was clear that they were paying extra money. I really feel he owed us this extra 1/2 hour since we had to personally fix his bad paint job. Shoddy work is shoddy workmanship. Tearing out a kitchen is not the hardest job it is putting one back in the place. The only good thing I can say, is that Jose is a hard worker and did a lot of the work himself.
I do not like being HIT UP for more money after the job is done in the fashion that they did. Show up at the door for payment but adding $750 to the bill. We told him we needed to speak with the partner who did the quote. He sent him out the next day, and once he knew he was ot getting the extra money he agreed that it was his fault for not changing the written estimate. He agreed he should have done it different and said he would forget the extra money - nothing like the feeling of "getting fleeced". We are retired property managers and we have used many repairmen over the last 40 years. We like professionals and this company was not that. I would not use them again. Think twice before you use these guys. If you do, make sure you "ask" if there will be any additional cost before the job starts, during the job and stick to the estimate quoted.

He came late afternoon because he got my message. He sized up the situation, we agreed upon the price and also set up an appointment for Wednesday to come back. He hasn't come back yet, nor has he hasn't called.
