This was a fantastic service. Instead of replacing cabinets in good condition, Cesar simply changed their color to better coordinate with my new flooring and wall colors. This process cost approximately 20% of what new cabinets would have been.
From our first consultation, Cesar was prompt and professional. All the options were explained clearly to me and a firm estimate for the cost was given. He has about 75 blocks of wood in various stains to choose from and let me keep several samples as I made my decision on color.
The process took about 10 days. He first removed the doors and drawer fronts. He stained one front and brought that back for my approval of the color. He then stained the doors and fronts at his workshop. He returned and, over 2 days, prep'ed and strayed the cabinet frames. His prep work was extensive and there was absolutely no damage to any other part of the rooms. He let the stain dry for several days and then returned and in half a day reattached the doors and fronts. He then spent a good 2 hours wiping down the cabinets with a quality oil/polish. He is providing me with this same product at no cost.
The end result is exactly what I wanted and, frankly, I don't think new cabinets could have been any better. He is returning to put the hardware on and to do some work on an old family heirloom handmade cabinet that needs refurbishing.
I would describe Cesar as a true professional. There was never any debris, trash, etc. in his work area. He is extremely courteous and quiet -- a delight when the house was full of various types of workmen.
If you chose this kind of service as part of a move, I recommend that you factor the time it takes into account. I made no attempt to put anything in the cabinets until he was finished and they had another couple of days to dry. This seemed to work well for me and for him.
