There were two parts to this "job" 1: Find a renter and rent our original condo long term. Blane took care of this, showing the condo to prospective renters and eventually finding a tenant. I had to correct the information he had posted several times. He now handles the day to day management (collect rent, arrange service) and while the cost seems excessive to my inexperienced eye, it is the still the lowest available without managing it ourselves which we have neither the time nor desire to do. 2: Handle vacation rentals on our second unit: We only rented for several months. During this time we made over $4500 in rentals. Blane seems to market the units well, and the unit was always clean and ready for the next guests, including ourselves. We did however discover damage to the property (torn screens) which was not reported or billed to whoever caused the damage. In fairness Blane paid for the repair himself when we pointed out the situation, but our concern was not the damage, but that if this slipped by, more serious problems might also occur. We removed the unit as a rental because we feared the damage to hardwood floors from ski equipment doing winter rentals, and because we did not want to make the garage available because it would be difficult to secure. As a side note, Blane gave good advice regarding renting and marketing the unit, but I will note that we purchased new sheets and towels for rental purposes, while some other companies provide them. Not sure how much of a consideration that should be, but just keep that in mind. This is our first experience with a management company, so we have nothing to compare our service to. While it did not meet our expectations, it is entirely possible (perhaps probable) our expectations are unrealistic. We had heard horror stories about management companies, and I would certainly not describe our experience that way. Blane listened to us, dealt with us honestly, addressed our concerns fairly, and was willing to negotiate.
Description of Work: We purchased a lovely condo with a view of Lake Tahoe, and decided to try to rent the unit as a vacation rental to offset the mortgage payment. At the time we also had a second condo that we wanted to have somebody manage as a long term rental.
