JORNADA VETERINARY CLINIC

Due to the virus all the vets are busy as can be. I'd never used Jornada because they’re pretty far from where I live, but they were able to get us in pretty quickly. The appointment was for 9:20AM 5/5/20. I’m the caretaker for my elderly dad, but he’s still ambulatory and able to drive. Dad took Ranger in. They met him in the parking lot and advised they were pretty busy that morning & if Dad had any errands to run that might not be a bad idea. As it turns out, Dad had a medical visit and arranged to pick Ranger up after lunch. Dad returned at 1:30 and called in. He was told they hadn’t had time to see Ranger yet. Dad replied that he really wasn’t up to waiting and wanted to take Ranger home, AND that he’d be happy to pay whatever the office fee was. He was told that Ranger would not be released to him. Things escalated from there. Dad explained that he’s 85; it’s been a long morning for him; he understood how busy they must be; we’ll do this another time AND we’ll pay for today’s visit. Jornada wasn’t having any. After being told a 3rd time that he was not entitled to take Ranger home ("it's NOT your decision SIR") Dad lost his cool: “YOU’RE NOT LISTENING – BRING MY F***KING DOG OUT TO ME NOW!!!” The witch on the phone said something to the effect of ‘how DARE you speak to me that way, I’m calling the police!’ and hung up. As Dad was dialing back in, Ranger was brought out to his vehicle. Needless to say, we will never waste another nanosecond of our time nor a penny of our money with these douchebags.

They did a good job. They had to go into consultation with our vet back home and so I would not give them an A for that reason only, or maybe they were just being careful.

They have always been very helpful and we have been using them for as long as I can remember for our cats and dogs. They are really friendly. We have taken dogs there before that have ended up dying of parvo or old age and they have been super helpful and caring.

The prices were very reasonable. Office visits are only around $40. I did feel a bit of an and quot;upsaleand quot; (maybe she was just being thorough but I kept to logic and the doc agreed.. THey said if I came back for the same condition then I wouldn't be charge for another office visit. Compared to other places we have lived the prices were very reasonable. Everyone was nice and competent. Also, the clinic didn't smell like wet dog. It smelled very clean (unusual for a vet). My cat is all better!
