ZALES THE DIAMOND STORE

I had purchased the lifetime protection plan in February 2011 for my diamond wedding rings. I was lead to believe that no further charge would be applied to my rings for any repair or resizing. The sales associate did not differentiate between in store service or shipping the rings out for repair. The store has on-site jewelry repair. My husband and I were assured that my rings would stay onsite. On August 11, 2011, I took my rings in for a 6 month check up. I asked the store to re-size my rings. I was told that a $35.00 charge would be applied for next day service. I was told that the free service only applied if I allowed them to send my rings out for repair. The turn-around would be approximately two weeks. I told them that was not what I had been told when I purchased the plan. The sales associate essentially told me that was the way it is. I got extremely angry and the sales associate relented on the extra charge. He said the next time it would apply. Classic bait and switch scam. I informed the district manager that I would never purchase anything in a Zales store again. I am urging everyone else to do the same.
