This office person would not give me a copy of the invoice and told me to contact my insurance company because they had the final invoice now. Um..Second red flag. A bate and switch going on. I finally got the invoice from my insuance, after numerous requests from me to the roofer rep and office person. In any event the final bill quoted every penny of what the insurance quote would pay, not the signed agreed upon quote and included all items the roofer didn't even do. Third red flag...
Also the office person says my estimate was for cash only jobs, even though my signed contract said nothing like that. Nor was there ever a discussion about cash only. Why was I given a cash only quote when the rep knew from the start I was using my Insurance. We even discussed how he was a member of the same insurance company. The answer is, it wasn't a cash only quote, that's why. The quote I received was less than the insurance would pay so they decided to try change their bottom line by aligning themselves with what the insurance would allow. Claiming the job I selected was for cash only not for insurance jobs is once the work is done is common underhanded practice. I thought this was going to be a clean easy contract. They even Left off the Angie's list coupon for 250 we agreed to apply.
Today I was sent a secopnd invoice ( got the revised one) minus the coupon, after I complained. The trouble is they listed $1,600 worth of work they didn't do and didn't change my cost to the $9250.. The owner wants to chat. No need to chat just provide the correct invoice.
Well I did chat with Johnny, who said he was the Sales Manager then later said he was the owner which really made no difference. In the end he agreed to correcting the invoice a third time, to the price of $9250 plus tax minus the angies list coupon. He said they had added the new garage door, replacing window screens and a/c fin straighten by mistake and that mistakes happen. He said he would send me an updated invoice. I thought how strange all of a sudden it was sent to me not the insurance company. In the email I received that after
Noon was the invoice with a note which read,"I?ve notified USAA this is no longer an insurance claim we will be handling" The insurance company thought it was an unnecessary statement and I agree. Claim finalized within minutes without any assistance from Goodrich.
When we received the estimates, Goodrich was the highest; however, the contract verified that Goodrich would perform the work as previously described by Mr. Welch. Due to the consistent follow through in writing and ESPECIALLY because Mr. Welch explained the work to us in detail, we hired Goodrich to re-roof our house.
We were scheduled immediately! Mr. Welch brought samples of roof tiles the Friday before roofing began and we selected the same as on the previous roof. Early on Monday the roofers turned out in force! We counted at least 6 men working on the roof. The foreman consulted with my husband on several items including tree branches that needed to be trimmed, Mr. Welch stopped by early to check on the proceedings and consult with us regarding other materials. By the time we returned home at 3:00 pm the roof was complete!
A few days after the roof was finished, I read through my April Angie's list monthly booklet and found a coupon for $250.00 off a re-roof for Goodrich Roofing. Although the work had already been completed, they still honored the Angie's list coupon.
Our roof was inspected by the city the following Monday and passed with no problems!
We are VERY pleased with our new roof. Goodrich Roofing Co. and ESPECIALLY Mr. Jim Welch were wonderful to work with. Throughout the entire process Mr. Welch told us that we were the ones in charge. We highly recommend Goodrich Roofing and would not hesitate to work with them again in the future.
