A tech initiated the exam and then does the initial setup of the exam machine. The Dr. comes in and then finishes the exam. I was wanting to get contacts for the first time because the glasses I'd got there before just didn't work and I would have to go in several times to get them adjusted. So Bobbi, helped me with my contacts after the exam. She was very patient with me because it took a long time for me to get them in my eyes. Once I did I told her my vision was blurry, but was told to give it some time, so I went home, but my vision didn't get better. So I went back thinking if I get another pair of contacts, (because maybe I'd damaged the ones I had), I would be able to see better. So I got the three months supply that I'd already paid for, but they didn't help my vision. So, I am just giving up and will wait until my insurance will cover me getting another exam with another clinic.

Overall everything went very well. Everyone was very friendly and professional and they explained everything along the way. One minor problem I had was with one of the tests I did. I am not sure if it was me or the equipment but the screen kept going dark and I couldn't see the objects I was suppose to. We tried the test a couple times but the results were the same and they couldn't explain why this was happening. My glasses did take extra long to come in but they called me and told me they were scratched when they arrived and the would put a rush on the second delivery. They were suppose to be back in a couple days. I waited for a week and didn't receive a call so I called them and was told they were in. The fitting went very well. I actually had to go back a couple times to get minor readjustments because of my hearing aids. Three different people helped me with these fitting and all were very understanding and friendly. Glasses fit well and my vision is better.

The exam went well with one exception: I forgot to ask how much my eyes had changed, and when I picked up my glasses the technician said the doctor was on vacation but the tech would call me the next week once she'd consulted with the doctor. I never got a call.







On the other hand, the tech who helped me select my frames was great at narrowing down my choices and being descriptive about the frame that best suited me and why I had discomfort with my current frames. I was in and out, and that was a pleasure.

I paid for the contact lenses but couldn't even use them one day. They itched, made my eyes burn, and were intolerable, especially in the left eye. It seemed as if my prescription was wrong. I set up an appointment to see Dr. Mamdani again, and the receptionist wouldn't fit me in for two weeks and seemed not to care that I was having difficulty.
This morning I went to see Dr. Mamdani. Her office people did not know what the visit was about; they didn't recall or consult their records. The receptionist/counter person took a report from me and asked if I wanted to try a different pair of lenses. I asked to see Dr. Mamdani since I thought it was important because the lenses had hurt my eyes. And I'd expressly made my appointment with Dr. Mamdani, so this was the person I expected to see.
To my surprise, the counter person told me that Dr. Mamdani refused to see me at all unless I prepaid eighty dollars for the and quot;office visit.and quot; I refused to do this since I'd already paid at least two hundred dollars for an eye exam and three months' worth of lenses. The counter person kept going into the back room to see Mamdani, who kept refusing to even see me. Finally the counter person said to me, and quot;Look. Do you even have insurance?and quot; I responded that her records might indicate whether I'd had insurance since I'd been seeing Dr. Mamdani for four years. I never did see Dr. Mamdani, even to speak to her about my concerns, so I finally left.
The bottom line for me is that I'll never return to Eyeworks. For years I've suspected price gouging (their prices are higher than any other optometrist's I've consulted in Albuquerque), and I've had other patrons who've had negative experiences encourage me not to go. But I do tend to try to think the best of people. This last experience, though, was nothing short of harrowing. Eyeworks may be one of the most incompetent and poorly run businesses in Albuquerque, and that, coupled with the rudeness of Mamdani and staff, makes me definitely want to take my business elsewhere. Actually,. I already have.

The managers are awesome. My wife had trouble with her new glasses fitting properly so they let us know we could exchange these for a better pair. They are very caring and concerned that we get the best service possible.

The eye examine was thorough. I liked that you can choose to get your eyes scanned instead of having your eyes dillated. I really like Dr. Mandami she is very professional and knowledgeable. My glasses came within 7 days and I am very happy with them.

I was very happy with the friendly atmosphere and reasonable prices.

It went very well overall. Everyone was courteous, efficient and professional. Environment clean, neat and up-to-date. Dr Torres seems competent, polite and patient.
