We were surprised to see quite a variety of Whirlpool and other washing machines, as well as dryers. I wanted to replace my unrepairable Whirlpool with one that had the same bells and whistles. I was able to find a "super capacity" Whirlpool washing machine with multiple water levels, 4 different wash cycles, and an always-wanted function of "extra rinse" which you could turn on or off with a separate knob.
We elected to do a little more washing machine shopping and headed to the car. But once in the car I realized that this machine had everything I was looking for so why would we consider looking further. I did not want to buy a used washing machine from "Craigs List" because of the leg work involved, no guarantee as to condition, no warranty, and most likely no delivery or removal of the old machine . Bob's Appliances washing machines were pristine clean and guaranteed for 90 days as of the delivery date (Be SURE to see Note). So I went back in the store and paid for the washer ($269.95 + $20 delivery to Rio Rancho + $20.30 tax = $310.25 via credit card), knowing that they would deliver it the following day "between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. (as printed on the back of the Sales Receipt) -- even though that was Christmas Eve day!
NOTE: be sure to read all the disclaimers on the back of the sales receipt, especially if you live in Rio Rancho, and ESPECIALLY if you live "out of the Albuquerque area" because the "customer will have to bring the appliance back to the shop if service is requested during the 90 day guarantee period" and also for the extended warranty.
Although Bob's Appliances could not give us a one-hour window for delivery (they can tell you "a.m." or "p.m" only) we were called about 30 minutes before the delivery was expected. The deliveryman was professional yet friendly and removed our old machine and installed the new machine all within about 20 minutes.
We were pleasantly surprised with our Bob's Appliance sales and delivery experience.
Avoid this company!
This service was requested through my home warranty company with a $75 fee. The appliance service company did not call to make an appointment within 24 hours. I contacted my warranty company after waiting three days, the following day I received a phone call to schedule an appointment. The day before the appointment my warranty company sent them another request to repair my second fridge. The appliance service company denied receiving the request for the second fridge and was rude to me over the phone. I contacted my warranty company and they called but received the same rudeness. My warranty company is currently escalating the issue to their contract section.
I can understand a miscommunication between the two companies but why wouldn't the appliance service company want to call the warranty company, clarify the issue and help the customer. Instead, the customer is left with one fridge that needs repair.
The person performing the repairs on my first fridge was very professional and did a great job but all of this was overshadowed by the rude individuals taking phone calls/scheduling jobs. I will avoid Bob's Appliance service company in the future.
Within a couple days, I noticed that the freezer was varying in temperature from 0 to 20 degrees and food was developing frost, thawing slightly and then freezing again. I called the same tech that came out originally. For the fourth time I arranged to meet him at my house. He checked a few things but couldn't figure out what the problem was so he left.
I was frustrated as to what to do at that point and could not afford to have someone else come out so I used my upright freezer until I couldn't stand it any longer and contacted Ortega's on 7/13/12 after joining Angie's List. The tech determined right away that the problem was with the board: it was not fully installed and the cold controls were switched. Since he fixed it, it has been working better than ever.
I contacted the manager at Bob's Appliance to tell her what happened but of course she would not refund me any of the money I originally paid them since I had waited too long. She told me I should have given them another chance and contacted them again back in February. I had already had their tech out once to check out the freezer but he couldn't figure it out so why would I have called them again?
I will not call Bob's Appliance again.
