STAY AWAY. Initially comes across as honest, but showed his true colors in the end. John (owner) is a carpenter, NOT a GC. Was hired to do a small bathroom. He subcontracted a tile guy who was not skilled. Part of tile was removed, but ended with same results. John blamed it on faulty tiles. My frameless shower doors were hung incorrectly. The door is 1/4" lower than the stationary door which when closing scrapes the sill. John and his son Derik's solution was to cut the silicon plastic strip at the bottom of door so it can close. The door stills scrapes the sill and the protective silicon strip (which keeps water from escaping outside the shower) is gone. I asked John why did he butcher the bottom of the strip? His answer, "it was like that already." John naturally blames the incorrect door mounting on faulty doors. Another issue was John did not know how to install the marble countertop on my vanity. He said it wasn't his job. I asked him if he had somebody to install it, and he said no. He then stated its the plumbers job. When the plumber arrived, he said it wasn't his job but he would do it. That cost me another $650. Btw, The countertop just needed to be placed on top. It didn't need any special gluing other than the sink being dropped in and sealed. At this point, I was embarrassed for John. - John lost his electrician who quit at the last minute. John did not have a back up electrician. We used my electrician and I paid him $1000. John refused to deduct it from the balance I owed him. He said it was all on me because I decided to have two sconces put in. Another issue I had is I requested John put shoe molding on the base molding because it looked unfinished. He stated he never puts shoe molding on top of the floor tile. I told him prior to him gutting bathroom that there was shoe molding. He said my other bathroom did not have it. I informed him that 2 out of 3 bathroom I have do have shoe molding. I told him I couldn't believe he's arguing with me about putting 4 strips of shoe molding. Truthfully, I can go on and on about his lack of honesty, skill and professionalism, not to mention I was taken advantage of. I paid him except the cost of the tiles inside the shower. I wanted him and his son out of my house. In my rush to get them out, I overpaid him by $1000. After notifying him of the error, he texted me stating he put a check in the mail for "$1000 minus $200" for "other" work performed. Hopefully, its in the mail. JUST STAY AWAY FROM THIS two clown CIRCUS.
