We lost roof shingles and once insurance processed it we called a few companies rated well on Angie's List. Tico's Carpentry offered a great price, and was a top rated company. The workers are quick and competent. We are happy with the work, glad to recommend them. Our house has a steep roof and is on a slope so while a fairly small job it did need experienced workers who used safety precautions, as they do. We recommend them because it was quality work, workers used safety precautions, worked quickly and the final result is great.

A tree from a neighbor's property fell on my deck during Hurricane Sandy. The deck, about 14X22 feet, was attached to the house about 8 feet above ground, and the tree took out the the railings, the edges, two cantilevered platforms and the staircase. I hired Tico's because I had used them before for smaller jobs and because Alex made some valuable suggestions that others had not suggested. The price fell in the middle of the estimates, but I was more concerned with whom I worked with. Tico's showed up exactly when scheduled and did a superior job. The workers were pleasant and worked quickly. All debris was cleared, and the project manager came a few times to check out the work. I would certainly recommend them for any carpentry work, and will use them again if needed. AS A FOLLOW-UP, while happy with the work, I am disappointed with the quality of the materials used. The wood appears rather cheap, has a rough surface, and is splitting in places. I sent an email regarding this issue some time ago but never received a response.

I have dealt with Alex at Tico's and he is always very prompt to return calls and very professional. His crew is fast and they have completed both jobs I have given them very well. I would definitely recommend.

They were very professional, personable, easy to communicate with and did a really fine job. Cleaned up after themselves and we were very well pleased.

We called Ticos on 1/17/13 for an estimate to replace the damaged flashing over the wood facia board of our home, and met with Alex the day after the call. Alex inspected the damage and at our request, inspected the whole roof. Alex advised us of other roof areas that needed to be repaired and provided an estimate for the complete job. We signed the contract and paid a 10% acceptance fee on January 25, 2013, and Alex advised us that the work would commence depending on whether weather conditions were suitable. The work commenced 2/13/13 and was completed 2/14/13. We were very impressed and happy with the timeliness and great quality of the work, as well as the professionalism shown by Alex, the workers and the office staff.

Seem they only wanted to use the roofing that they could get delivered the fastest and easiest. Not like you replace your roof every other yr, so I wanted shingles that looked good and were durable. You can't deviate from the previous agreed on contract even if you are willing to pay more ie: add an additional service. Seems like you have to complete the first contract, then he would think of the next one. Once you sign the contract you are stuck with what you originally asked for. Workers were not respectful of our property ? ruin plants and belongings. I?m still picking up nails and shingle remains from the old roof. I hope a nail doesn?t end up in someone?s foot. The roof looks beautiful though and stood up to Sandy. Also had some carpentary work done. These two were excellent workers and I would use them again. Too bad they are associated with Tico. I won't use Tico again, too many headaches.

I'm having an issue, but I haven't called them back yet. It seems like they used sub-standard materials and everything is kind of falling apart. They started out with a bang and ended with a sizzle. They did finish the job, but now the paint is falling apart and the materials that they claimed to use, they didn't use. Their price was average.

He provided me with pictures of the roof as I am disabled and unable to look for myself. He showed up on time and provided me with a very good estimate.

Alex arrived at my house to give me an estimate on building a rear deck on my house. To my surprise he arrived with nothing but a notebook computer and immediately asked me what I wanted to do. When I told him I wanted to have a deck built on my house, he asked me to show him where I wanted it. I showed him and told him the size I wanted. he immediately took out his tape measure and measured the area. He then asked me several bried questions: How many sets of steps I wanted;did I want lattice around the perimeter; What kind of railings did I want (I didn't have a clue because he never showed me any photos, samples, colors, etc.) He never even asked if I wanted treated wood or composite decking so I told him to give me an estimate on both types. But then he did ask me a very impotant question: How soon I wanted it built. He then told me I would have to draw up plans for the deck in order to get a permit. His final words were he would send me the estimate by email which I got several days later. I am totally astounded that any contractor would even think of going to someone's home to give them an estimate on building a fairly large deck and not tell the homeowner anything about design, shape, building methods, pros and cons of different materials and styles, etc. Alex was have spent a whole 8 minutes with me. He seemed like a pleasant man but I can't imagine anyone hiring this company if that's the way they do business. I am still in a state of disbelief. And to top it all off the estimate I received was the highest by a significant amount of the three estimates I got.

Very prompt and professional service. Sales rep was on time and quickly provided a reasonable estimate. Workers arrived several days later and finished the job in a few hours just as scheduled. Would definitely consider using them again.

We made an appointment with Tico's for an estimate on our damaged roof after hurricane Sandy. Alex arrived on time or a few minutes early for the appointment. He was very pleasant and professional. We were impressed because he took about an hour to explain the products Tico's used for the roof and the entire process. A day later, he sent us a itimized estimate. The price was a little higher than other contractor's but clearly indicated the need to remove old wood shingles and install new plywood which the others did not . Once we gave Alex the go a head it was about a week to 10 days wait for the start date. During this time, they requested the town permit. Given the number of damaged homes in the area, this seemed very reasonable. They called to let us know when they would start and when it rained, it was postponed 1 day. Again, we were informed of the delay promptly. They told us they would start at 8am but came at 7:30am. There was a delivery of materials and men scattering about. They came in to collect their check and then asked about using the electric for their tools. We did not have an outside outlet and offered the garage but they asked to go through a window to the basement. We have a renovated basement but saw no harm. After i noticed that there was a layer of soot all over the basement floor and cabinets from the window being open. Perhaps they could have covered it or used the garage. They also asked if it was ok if they placed a dumpster in our driveway. The job was completed in 2 days including the gutters and inspection. They did a great job and everything was spotless. No debris was left behind, impressive given the amount of garbage filled a dumpster. At the end, Alex came to collect his final payment and did a full inspection with us. We noticed a dent in one of the gutters and he had it replaced the same day! I would definitely use Tico's in the future and would recommend them .

Ticos Carpentry arrived ahead of time, evaluated the problem with the roof, informed me that there were no problems that needed to be fixed, did not charge me for the call and left. I was impressed with their promptness, knowledge and willingness to do the evaluation without a charge.

Immediate response to come and give me estimate. We agreed on date work was to be performed. They arrived on time, went straight to work. Finished timely and did very good job. Cleaned all debris. Very pleased with their work and responsiveness.

We had used Tico's once before and found them to do good work, but at an elevated price. In this case, Tico's showed up late for the meeting, took a few weeks to provide a bid, and came back with a silly high number--4x-5x higher than the other bids we received. So high it was insulting. We will not use them again.

ly. the original estimate was done quickly. jorges showed up on time and gave a decent estimate. after deciding to go with this company scheduling went smooth. the only delays were due to weather. the contract was signed a date to start work was set. both dates were cancelled due to rain rain and more rain. finally the rain stopped and the worker came and started work immediately. they continued working until all the work was done. once done they cleaned up and left the place as they found it minus the damage. experience was one of the best from contractor.

Alex came to our home for a consultation at least 3 times. We had many questions and he patiently answered them all. The workers were very friendly and professional. The carpentry work is just beautiful!

They came promptly for an estimate and were very professional throughout. This was a two-day job and the workers cleaned up each day and left the area tidy. Jorge came by after the work was done to ensure we were satisfied. Kind, professional, reliable from start to finish.

Replaced a 6 ft. section of roof, and replaced a 20 ft. gutter. While they were doing the work, I asked Alex to take a look at a small roof leak I had in the back, and he diagnosed it and had it repaired at no extra charge on the same day. They were true to their quote, went above and beyond, and did quality work. The true test was Hurricane Sandy, and the work that Tico's did easily stood up to the wind and rain. I will be requesting their services again when I need repairs or improvements.

We have been trying to get someone to do some roofing/yankee gutter repairs and chimney repairs for many months. Tico had done some carpentry and drywall work for us inside the house serveral years ago, which was well done. We contacted Tico about these new repairs and they were quick to respond and meet us to provide an estimate. Of the three estimates we received, Tico was in the middle. Tico contacted us soon after we gave approval to proceed to set up time on two separate days (one for the chimney and the other for the roof) to do the work. They were on time both days and completed the project scoped each day. It was a pleasure to work with a contractor that was responsive from the time we reached out to them until the time the project was completed. Our experience with other contractors has made us wary of getting work done as it has been almost impossible to get them to either show up to provide an estimate or to do the work. The quality of the work seems to be good as well.

The work performed exceeded our expectations. They showed up on time,were very professional,performed the work in a timely manner, cleaned up after themselves and the cost was reasonable.We would not hesitate to use their services again or recommend them to family and friends.

They did very good work. He bundled up everything he tore up and took it away the same day. The replaced the posts, porch floor, steps, banister, and railing. They also had to replace some of the wood under the floor. They replaced screen and lattice. They did a very good job and we would recommend them to anyone. We would use them again.

Alex came to give estimates. He even "crawl" under the roof to run water test to find the leaks. He offer three options with cheap, moderate and highest cost. We choose the best method to permanently fix the leaks. Alex is a great guy and very knowledgeable about roofing stuff. They came on time and we are surprise they have three people and one supervisor on site for this small job. You can tell they are serious about their work. They do not have sub but send their own crew. No issue communicating with the foreman. After they properly flash and layered the shingles, they run water test. One of them crawl under the roof to make sure no leaks and took some pictures so show us. The whole job took about 3 hours. Since then we have several severe thunderstorms and no leaks was found. We are very happy :) It was a great experience with this company. I'd certainly refer my friends and neighbors about their quality of work and professionalism.
