This is my third time hiring Ticos (previos experience was wood working projects including built-in book cases and a built-in "cubby"), and my experiences were so good that I came back again. As usual, Ticos quality is phenomenal. From the time we said "go," they were starting the job in a matter of less than two weeks. They handled all the painful permitting and inspections with the township so we didn't have to, came to us when they had questions on the plans, and provided recommendations when they thought a specific material could be used to enhance the look of the end product. There were a few minor delays due to weather and materials not arriving on time, but overall, the project took just about two weeks and the result was fantastic! The best compliment we receive is that the portico "looks like it has been there all along." So happy with the work - I would contact them again any time for other projects - that team is just terrific. I will say that there is a little problem with proactive responsiveness when things/times shift so I felt like I had to call a few too many times to "check in," but the overall product and quality work was tremendous and will keep me coming back to Ticos.

Not too long after they put the tile down some of the tiles are cracked, I don't know if that's a consequence of the tile itself or how they laid them. Also, a lot of the grout had come out so I'm not happy about that. I do think the grouting should last longer than a year. We thought they said they were going to do something with the ceiling because they removed old fixtures and put new ones in. You can see where the old ones were and we thought they were going to finish that off but they didn't.

Very professional the whole way through. Alex showed up quickly on our request to supply an estimate. We scheduled the work 2 months ahead -- not because of Tico's, but because we needed to coordinate the carpentry with our painter. We fully expected the timing to fall apart since it was scheduled so far in advance. But Alex's crew showed up on the exact day to start the work that we had agreed upon. The crawl space doors they installed are a big improvement over what we had. They give the outside of the house a more finished look, and they close-up nice and tight now. The bigger challenge of this job was to replace about 6 boards of siding on our house that had cracked where they were nailed in. Another contractor had tried to wave-cut these boards a few years ago. Not sure if he used the wrong type of wood or what, but within the first year, all the boards cracked. And he wasn't very skilled with the jigsaw. This is a custom job that takes a skilled hand. Tico's carpenter did a great job with the boards. My husband is a perfectionist, and he couldn't find fault. Hopefully, the boards will wear well, and won't start cracking in the future. Only time will tell. Tico's threw in a couple of much-appreciated freebies, too -- they primed all of the bare wood so our painter wouldn't have to come out early to do it, and they offered to fix some rotting fascia boards that they spotted. They charged us exactly what was estimated. I can see why people like these guys.

I had 5 estimates done. I chose Tico's because of it's price , the good reviews here, and beinga GAF Certified Master Elite roofer. He came over and went up to the roof (a good sign - I have a 2 storey house) and determined the work to be done. We talked afterwards and he presented what's he's going to do. What I would recommend to prospective customers is to know how roof works and what is the condition of you current roof. If you can go in to your attic and look for some signs of water instrusions or molds so that you can talk with the roofer on how to resolve the root cause of those issues.In my case, I know already that I'll be needing more soffits and he did agree with me. So it's an extra cost on my part ($300) to put in 30 1-inch circular tabs all around my soffits. He suggested also replacing my electric attic vent with a solar one. He estimated that it will take 2-3 days for the entire work. So here's my concise pros and cons on the entire job:Pro - came in on the first day at 8am with a big dump bin and at least 10 guys. - put on tarp to cover the entire front of the house - roofers work fast and seems to know the proper install of gaf shingles. - good removal of all of my batt insulation (extra cost on mine) Cons- wish the guy brought in a magnet sweeper when the dump truck came in to pick up the bin. I have to help him pick up the nails on my driveway.- while looking inside the attic I noticed a 5-inch tore on weatherstopper. also found some empty water bottles.- wish the roofer told me that they can put in chimney caps and vent caps on- did'nt put on the tarp at the back of the house when doing demolition

I started by seeking three estimates with two from Angie's List (including Tico's). The contractor that wrote a dollar amount on the back of a business card was rejected out of hand. The second contractor had a professional presentation and estimate, but it was not nearly as detailed as the estimate provided by Tico's. Moreover, the materials and roofing system used by Tico's was of a higher quality for not much more than the second estimate. I thought the work and materials were worth it. I had used Tico's last year for my primary residence and was impressed with them then and remain impressed with the quality of their work today. I am totally impressed with their outstanding carpentry skills in rebuilding the Yankee gutter systems, and finding exact replacements for the crown moldings thereby preserving the charm of "this old house." They more accurately should be called "artisans" instead of "carpenters." They started work within a week of giving the estimate, they did all of the leg work for the permitting process and dumpster, took extra care to cover the unfinished parts of the roof with tarps to prevent leaks from the few days of rain, and cleaned up everything immaculately.

Very professional foreman and crew. They were punctual and performed the work as quoted. Would certainly recommend/use them again.

They came when the said they would, got it done in the time they said they would, did an excellent job, stayed within budget and were very professional and pleasant to deal with. Excellent experience and we would use them again

fine, I mean a month after they left I have two of my siding shingles loose and I am fairly sure they may have caused it with their ladders but I can't confirm that is the case. Overall very good.

Very nice gentleman, came on time and seemed very professional, but his estimate was much higher than every other one we got, so we did not use his services.

They were very prompt, actually coming to do the work they day after we decided to move forward. Despite a large mess left over at the end of the first day, they arrived the next morning to take away the remaining debris.

From the moment Jorge from Tico's Carpentry gave us a bid, to the moment he accompanied his workers to the job, to the work itself, Tico's carpentry was courteous, prompt,professional, honest, and exhibited excellent carpentry and roofing skills. We were most impressed with their thoroughness, and commitment to getting the job done. As we had general contracted our own house 23 years ago, we were used to dealing with contractors, and had high expectations. Tico's met those expectations. As our house ages, we wil be calling on Tico's to fix whatever we need. In this case, our roof leaked between two dormers. When Jorge came out to give us the bid, he scrambled up the ladder and onto the roof to assess the situation. May I add, he was the only contractor who bid the job to do so. Others gave their assessment by just looking from below. I have waited until today, when we have had our first rain, to write this report. Because with all contracting work, sometimes what looks good to the eye, might not be complete. I am pleased to report, the roof did not leak, and Tico's work is as I described, excellent.

I have used them before. They did a good job. I would use them again.

Tico's was very accomodating in rescheduling our appointment when another contractor fixing the steps right below the front gutter ran behind schedule. I believe the work was subcontracted out to another company but nonetheless the work was completed. One thing I must say is that their responsiveness is not their strong suit. Request for proof of insurance was never faxed over as promised, some calls were never returned for questions asked. Overall, I was pleased with their work and would look to hire them again if necessary.

Representative was on time, polite, friendly and professional. Job quote was fair and Tito's office staff contacted me on a regular basis to advise as to when job could be done relative to the weather being clear. Job completed on time. Workers were friendly and professional. I have recommend them to friends already.

We contacted Tico's for an estimate and met with Alex who inspected the roof and provided various options for the roof. They were the only company that actually went on a ladder to inspect and advise us of our options. They were also the only company to provide information about the GAF warranty. Also of note is that the price was the lowest so we were very impressed by this. After sending in a deposit, we waited to get on the schedule and that was when we had a severe storm in the northeast where many trees and power lines went down. We were however able to get on the schedule in early November and had the work done in one day on a Saturday. The roof looks amazing and we are very happy with it. We replaced it not because we were having issues, but just as a preventative measure since the previous one was almost 40 years old.

I contacted Ticos Carpentry and roofing to provide an estimate after obtaining estimates from two competing roofers. This roofing job was part of an exterior home renovation project consisting of long overdue carpentry, painting and roofing work that I began this past summer. It was really a no-brainer to select Tico's because the first contractor gave a verbal estimate that I could not use, and the second contractor's written estimate was not as comprehensive. The crew was very efficient and completed the job in a reasonable time. And best of all, no more leaks and the drainage problems are a thing of the past.

From the time of the estimate until the job was finished was a matter of days. The price was fair and the work has stood up to horrible weather. We recommend this company

It looks really nice. We have had rain since they have done it and no leaks. They cleaned up very nicely and put a tarp down to collect debris, then they just rolled it up and it was a quick cleanup. They did the whole project in one day, which we were very thankful for. We are going to use them again for another larger roofing project.

He was very nice and came on time. He did a good job. He was very professional.

Their work was very good. They completed the work in a timely manner and provided consistent updates throughout the project. There was a bit misunderstanding regarding final payment, but we would definitely use them again.

I thought that they were good but I did not think that they were great. They showed up on time. There was a lack of communication because many of the workers did not speak English which was frustrating to me. Their clean up was good and there was no problem with that. I would probably not use them again in the future.

Tico's reworked the system, and now all of the water from the second floor runs to the low side of the house. Hurricane Irene was about as good a test as we could get, and the new system worked flawlessly. I'd defiantly use them again.

Ticos were great to work with, the owner came out to go over what we wanted done, gave us a price within 20 minutes (unlike so many others who needed a week). The work was excellent, workers were friendly and professional, we even added on a couple of small jobs (replacing a shed window, repair to upstairs deck) and this was no problem and prices were very reasonable. All work was done on schedule, no hidden costs, every day they cleaned up behind themselves and made the whole process as easy as possible for us. The house looks awesome now that all the work has been done. Will definitely have Ticos at the top of our list for any future work, they were a refreshing change from our previous experiences with contractors.
