I needed a whole new Air conditioner, copper piping, furnace and venting pipe. I went through a lot of research with other companies and decided that something seemed right with Ryan Inc compared to others. These guys seems to live and breath HVAC while the other companies seemed to just have employees. Kenny was always around to answer my calls to help me decide what brand, type and price point that i wanted to spend. It took me three weeks to decide with alot of phone calls to them and they were always patient. Yes there were others that were cheaper but not that much and with this type of money i wanted to spend it on people that would do it right. Great job, timely, CLEAN, and great communication. They did the whole job in one day and everything is great (so far). Ask for Kenny Rogers and his crew.

Pat Ryan and all his Ryan Builds personnel were very professional. They arrived on-time for estimate and provided valuable insight into options for replacing my home heating system. When the crews arrived to start work they came with 6 vans of personnel & equipment and waited in the street 'till 7 am to start work. They completely removed the old steam boiler, radiators & associated plumbing in one day leaving no mess behind. The new installation was completed by the second day, waiting for the town building inspector. All work was approved during first inspection from plumbing, electrical & fire inspectors. The oil tank was removed from my basement without issue. They followed up upon completion to ensure all documents were completed for NJ Energy Saver Rebate. Overall experience was excellent, I would highly recommend Ryan Builds.
Description of Work: Replaced steam oil fired boiler with energy efficient heat pump system. Installed additional insullation through house.

.I've had more problems with this unit and it's only 7 years old. Three visits to fix any problems and never got anything fixed, jusy paid more money. I was sitting through summers with air conditioners in the windows because the central air doesn't work. i'M JUST GOING TO HAVE A WHOLE NEW FURNACE AND UNIT REPLACED by a reliable, honest company. Ryan is not one of them. I don't understand why Ryan never offered to fix what was misdiagnosed after all the money I've paid them.
Description of Work: First service visit was for my heating. It was running constantly and my electric bill was so high. He said everything was fine and it could be my thermostate. He said they would give me a break on a new one for $350.00. I said no. Then my compressor blew which was under warranty. I was charged $1200.00 to fix it. I asked why, being that the compressor was under warranty and he said it was labor. Then I had a Weltman service man come when Angies list had a special for $39.00 to check my air conditioning unit. He said that, first of all, the unit was way too big for my home and so was the furnace. The fuse in the unit was tripping the fuse in the house and therefore not running right. He said to call Ryan and have them fix the problem but I didn't want to call them because they misdiagnosed it the first time and they would only charge me more money.

Overall it was a good experience, although I did feel a bit like they wouldn't have even come out for just the estimate unless they had the audit done. No sooner had I sent a request for a quote via their website, when I got a call from one of their inside sales people to set up an audit. This was followed up with emails with references, which I thought was very good. However one thing that tainted them a bit for me was how it was loaded with comments about how bad the original work was done by everyone else and how amazing they made it. I can understand pride in a job well done - just felt it could have been conveyed without the comments. The audit itself was great - Pat and Chris were very prompt, polite, and informative, and I learned a few new things about the house from an energy perspective. They recommended a full replacement of furnace and A/C system, as well as a tankless hot water heater. As much as I like the concept of a tankless, I've seen way too many negative comments, even with the newer versions, to feel as comfortable as I would with a traditional tank. Considering the upfront and ongoing maintenance costs, I didn't feel it would ultimately be cost effective. In the end, it came down to a choice between 2 contractors. Given that Ryan indicated they would only do the furnace with the new A/C, we decided to select the other. However we would consider them for future work, as I felt they would do a great job.
Description of Work: Had contacted Ryan as one of our possible choices to replace our aging furnace and hot water heater. They strongly recommended having an energy audit done as a first step in order to get into the NJ Rebate program, which we had them do. A few days after the audit (which was pretty thorough), we received the report along with an estimate for work needed.

I have a contract with them so I haven’t paid them anything yet. They came in and did the service for noting. The general review was included in the overall cost. They called ahead of time. They were punctual. The person who came out was nice and professional. He knew his stuff. I know something about air conditioning so I was very pleased with the result. He did not try to push things I didn’t need. One of the reasons I picked them was they do electrical, plumbing, heating and cooling. They do commercial installations also and I like people who do commercial work. The price was right. I called them that day and the service man said that he really can’t check out how well the cooling system is working because it isn’t hot enough yet. They will have somebody come back another day.
Description of Work: I used Ryan Inc to check out the air conditioning system and to service it in spring and in summer. I have a contract with them.

Upper floor forced hot air gas furnace stopped working. The fan operated normally per thermostat but there was no gas ignition and therefore no hot air. Had a Ryan technician come out to perform overall inspection of HVAC units (2) in the house some years back and had been impressed by professionalism of the company and the technician, so made an appointment for diagnostic visit. Appointment easy to set up, made for the following Saturday between 10 and 2. Technician was totally professional and polite and arrived promptly and early, close to 10. Problem with the unit was quickly diagnosed as a faulty pressure sensor. Could have paid the cost of the diagnostic visit (~$90) plus cost of replacement part and installation but chose to set up a maintenance agreement with Ryan, which meant cost of diagnostic visit was waived. New part was ordered and installed on second visit 2 days later. All is well now. Company followed up promptly to set up visit for technician to inspect whole house HVAC as per maintenance agreement.
Description of Work: Upper floor forced hot air gas furnace stopped working. Fan operated per thermostat but no gas ignition (and no hot air). Technician diagnosed faulty pressure sensor (required to confirm adequate exhaust of CO). Part ordered and installed 2 days later. Unit working well now.

I thought it was too expensive for a bathroom faucet and for a first time customer to have someone on training.
Description of Work: My bathroom faucet was leaking. They arrived on time but I believe they were training someone on repairs because it was not fixed and he forgot to give me my receipt for the work. Next day I had to call them back twice for someone to come out and he then repaired the faucet without a additional charge because I informed him I was not giving any more money.

My mother's house was flooded one foot deep during Hurricane Irene due to sump pump failure. After the water was pumped out and damaged stored items were removed, I called Ryan Inc. to evaluate the furnace. Four main portions of the furnace were inoperable: blower motor, condensate pump for the air conditioner, circuit board, and something else... The furnace was about 20 years old. After learning that my mother would prefer a conventional furnace similar to her old one, the estimator from Ryan recommended a Goodman furnace with 80% efficiency. He said the existing furnace was well located, so no new duct work was needed. I signed a contract, and a date less than a week later was agreed upon for installation. Two installers arrived promptly at 8 AM as scheduled. I asked them to mount the new furnace on concrete blocks that we had, and they enthusiastically did that. They installed a new condensate pump and programmable thermostat as promised in a phone conversation, even though the contract did not specifically mention those items. They shared the work between each other while conversing quietly. They politely accepted snacks my mother offered them. They answered our questions. They tested both the furnace and the air conditioner and made sure they worked properly. They warned us that there would be a temporary odor when the new furnace first started up. One of them patiently taught me how to set the new programmable thermostat.
Description of Work: Inspected flood-damaged furnace, estimated cost of repairs ($1500), estimated cost of new furnace ($3700) and installed it.

Contractor was not careful about cleaniness around the work area or the rest of the house when moving tools and supplies to complete the work. We had to bring this to their attention after they had tracked a lot of dirt on carpeting and took the wood stain off a portion of our wood floor from some chemical on the bottom of their shoes. Our back door screen was also ripped when contractor transported sink cabinet into the house to be installed. We had to specifically point this out to get it repaired. On a positive note, Ryan's tile guy did a good job with the retiling of of the floor. So in the end, the job came out as we expected, but it took alot of monitoring to make sure the work was completed to our satisfaction.
Description of Work: Contractor was asked to remove and replace old tile flooring, old toilet ,sink cabinet and faucet fixtures. We had already purchased a new bathroom cabinet with double sink which we asked the contractor to install, along with new tile flooring and faucet fixtures (which was purchased independently). We went through the contractor to obtain the new toilet for installation. The contractor also replaced the water damaged subfloor in the bathroom before installing the new tile flooring. Essentially, this job was an upgrade to sink cabinet, faucet fixtures, toilet and flooring.

We Called Ryan Inc to fix a clogged kitchen sink and to take a look at the water heater since we had no hot water. We allowed them to fix the clogged kitchen sink but it clogged again the following week. I have not been able to get them to come back and fix the issue. When the sink clogged again the following week, I requested a visit back since the issue has not been resolved. They mentioned that they need to charge me another $69 diagnostic fee but I pointed out that the prior service was unacceptable and it should be done with the prior payment. Made an appointment for the next day and was given a 8 - noon window. By calling around 11 AM, I found that the plumber had left for the day but they didn't call me. Front desk did ask if I wanted to set up an other appointment but I didn't trust them to show up so I declined. I will be trying to get a refund. As for the Water Heater, I don't think the repair man knew much about water heaters because his decision was to replace the water heater for about $1500 and we declined. We found someone else who fixed the issue by cleaning out the loose gas line and connecting it to the heater for under $200. Ryan service man wasn't able to diagnose the the problem properly. I won't be calling them for any plumbing or water heater issues. They are expensive and didn't fix our clogged sink.

They responded quickly providing an estimate that I thought was high, later found out it was excessively high, however they said they would begin the next day this was near 4th of July 2008. Never showed the next day to start as promised, when I called I was told they had to finish another job first, this was never mentioned when they provided the quote. I was promised the work would begin the next day. I had to wait several days in pretty extensive heat for the work to begin, put a hole in my ceiling replacing the vents and did not repair it. They installed the return too close to the attic access requiring the woodwork around the frame to be cut back, which they did a horrible job on, this should have been better planned on their part. Was suppose to get a new thermostat, they did not have it the last day of the job wired up my old one saying they would get it to me never did. When they were up on the attic their behavior and language was less than professional. My original experience with this company in the early to mid 90's was great, unfortunately my latest experience was the exact opposite, I would NOT recommend this company and personally will never use them again.
Description of Work: Used this company in the early to mid 90's had a great experience at that time. When my central air went out in 2008 called them again. Central Air Conditioning

I am extremely happy with everything they have done so far. I have been very impressed with their knowledge. They even took me to a location of where they have done work previously. They have catered to my needs and helped assure me of their quality of work. There was an awful lot of work done at our home. I now know I chose the right contractor. The work took two and a half days, all of the workmen were super and answered all my questions, did all I asked and more. I will use this company in the future and will recommend them to friends and family. Patrick Ryan is extremely knowledgeable and professional. Kenny Rogers, who was here for the audit and headed the install team was great! I have a close family member who is currently going through the process and I know she will be pleased with the finished product. My home is much more comfortable with the new multi speed system and we certainly are looking ahead to saving dollars on energy.
Description of Work: I had an energy audit done. They are currently working on an estimate for replacing our HVAC system and hot water heater. They found several gas leaks and problems with my current system. Upon completion of the audit, we decided to move ahead with Ryan after talking with several other companies, they were the most knowledgeable and answered all the tough questions. They installed a new HVAC System, hot water heater, humidifier, electronic air cleaner and sealed air leaks in the basement, garage and attic. They also repaired all the gas leaks and all other deficiencies that were found in the energy audit.

We moved into a house and the heating system had not been checked. I had them come in and evaluate the system to see if it was working properly. There was a condensate line that had collapsed as somebody had put in a very bad piece of plastic tubing. They replaced that and it's been working fine. They did a good job. It was an excellent experience overall. I think they could've been a little less expensive. We have put them on a contract for air-conditioning service. We use them because we also wanted someone to service the air-conditioning system.

Ryan completed a full renovation of my upstairs full bathroom. They completed full demolition within three days. They completed new framing, insulation, electric, plumbling, sheetrock, tiling and painting over the course of the next month. During that time they also installed my new fixtures, whirlpool bathtub and vanity. I was very happy with their service and work ethic. They came to work as scheduled every day. For the first week of the project, I was out of the country. They took care of my home and my project incredibly well. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them - or to use them myself again in the future. This was my second experience with Ryan (they installed a new CAC unit) and I was very happy with them both times.

Ryan first came out to troubleshoot problems with our existing Central A/C system. It was quickly determined that it would be most cost effective to replace our system, but maintain our existing duct work. We scheduled a date for our work. Each person who worked on my job was professional and polite. We were very happy with the work and have not had any problems with the new system. We even booked Ryan to do a full bathroom renovation (separate report to follow- which will also be very positive).

I was not getting any hot water. I had previously had the tank fixed by another company, who kept increasing the costs during the job. Ryan indicated that they had a fixed price per job, no matter how long it took. I had them replace the hot water tank. I also asked for a quote on a new toilet and bathroom sink. A month later I had the bathroom work done. The team was very professional and took a lot of pride in their work and it showed. I would highly recommend this company.
Description of Work: Removed old hot water tank and replaced with new tank; installed new toilet and bathroom sink. Arrived on time and were very careful about their work. Accomplished the work with some cost increase (needed a new toilet flange). All parts of the work included in the initial quote were performed for the price quoted. The team worked very cleanly and were careful to cleanup both inside and outside (where the water heater is located on the balcony). I recommended this company to my neighbor when their furnace went this weekend.

Received quote with each item clearly broken out. First had the sink and toilet replaced. Team did an excellent job. Very precise in their work and did an outstanding job. Let the bathroom and work area clean. I was vert pleased with their professionalism. I then had them quote me a price to replace my hot water tank. Very similar experience. The day was extremely hot (102) and the tank was on my balcony outside. The crew did a fabulous job in draining/removing the tank, taking care not to cause any damage or mess in my home. They were careful to explain what they were doing with the installation. The cleanup afterward was superb. I highly recommend this company and their workers.

Ryan deserves praise for the electrical work they performed on our home. We recently purchased a new home that had an overcrowded and under-powered circuit breaker panel. Bruce and Jordan performed the work. Throughout all of my interactions with both individuals, they were polite, conscientious and professional. Further, they were on-time and left our home clean after the work was finished. I followed-up with Bruce after the job had been completed to express my wish that I had received a more detailed labeling of the circuit breakers. Almost immediately, I received messages from both Bruce and Patrick Ryan. Bruce returned and conducted an extremely thorough labeling of the panel that exceeded my high expectations. In addition, he was very patient in offering explanations to a number of my questions, some of which betrayed my ignorance about electrical wiring. I am completely satisfied with the job that Ryan did. Bruce, in particular, deserves special recognition for a job very well done. His patience and expertise were exceptional.

We have had a contract with them for years and they come in the spring and fall to check the unit and change the filters if needed. You can also call them if you have any problem, but so far we have had very good results with their service. They are courteous and seem to know their job. We called them in the spring because we had a problem with the unit and a gentleman came and checked it over and he did get it operating again. He also said that it may not last and that the part was not covered under the contract, and he also told me the price of the part. A couple of weeks later it stopped functioning and they came and fixed it.
