They wanted $5,800 for a 35-square foot deck. I laid it out pretty clearly, the thing I posted on the website. It was pretty much what I wanted done. They were quick to respond. They were here when they said they would be. I probably would not use them because they did another job for me that I though was real expensive too. I don’t think they’re going to anymore work for me.

This is one of those large operations with lots of overhead cost and sales commissions to cover, that you will pay for. We contacted them on a recommendation and the experience was downhill from there. They are very nice, professional, and personable, but also pushy, sales-y, and you will pay a premium to cover all their fancy sales costs. A salesman showed up a week after we called because they are too busy to come at your convenience. After an initial sales pitch and scare tactic show, they arranged a re-visit to go over the estimate and would not provide an estimate over the phone or without an in-person sit-down meeting. Basically, they need to come and sit down with you to convince you why you should pay them more than anyone else to do the job. They scheduled the estimate review for over a week later, and when we needed to reschedule the day, it would take them 2 more weeks to come out. Their sales people are too busy running around trying to do as many estimates as possible because they only close a fraction of them and need to make their commissions. Bottom line – we never got the sit-down estimate review because they couldn’t accommodate our schedule and refused to give us a quote without wasting 2 hours of our time with a hard sell session. Do yourself a favor and choose a smaller owner-operated contractor who will do the work themselves and earns their own pay through hard work. This company is dodgy and relies on salespeople.

Their project manager came out on a Sunday to scope the job and confirm our decking/railing choices. Good thing he did as we made some color changes that worked out for the best. When they began tearing out the old deck they found it wasn't properly installed. They could have completed the job based on the original quote but their advice, and I concurred, was to replace the frame and footings which gave me a completely new deck and attach it to the house (which was not the case with the original deck). I now have a very attractive deck that will last for many years to come. My wife and I are extremely pleased with Carl's professionalism and quality of work. Their workers were respectful of my property and did a great job.

Once they received permits from town things went very quickly. Tom and his crew were professional, knowledgeable and had a tremendous work ethic. Worked thru a couple of drizzly days and finished deck within a week. Clean up was excellent. Would definitely hire again.

From start to finish, this is how a project should go. Ryan, the sales person, arrived on time and discussed what we wanted, our options and promised to get back with a quote, which he did with an email a few hours later. This in and of itself was impressive because only about 50% of contractors actually keep their appointments for estimates. Communication was outstanding! They called the day before the installation day with an approximate time, and on that day they called about 1/2 hour before arrival. Frank and his crew confirmed the details and began the job. The finished product was excellent in my opinion, and more importantly, my wife loved it. As I said in the beginning, this is how every project SHOULD go.

Work went great. Mike accommodated a last minute adjustment to add a second gate. Team also had to install 2 additional panels (original delivery was short these 2 panels). Original fence delivery was installed in roughly 6 hours. They installed a temporary workable second fence until I got the new one and put in a temporary barrier for the 2 missing panels. Took a couple weeks later to get/install the second fence and 2 additional panels... I didn't know Carl's actually makes their own fences until after the original delivery was installed so completely understand the delay. Very professional company. I'd definitely use these guys again.

After setting up an appointment the salesperson called the day before the appointment to cancel due to illness. we rescheduled for two days later and he never showed up. i called the office and left a message for him to call me back but he never returned the call. Very unprofessional.
