Excellent.  Came on short notice, and very qualified.  Importantly for us, he took an interest in the overall condition and function of the instrument - not just in its pitch.  By the way, when he was done the pitch was great!  Playing it again!

This company is GREAT! Mike, the owner, followed up from our first tune up with him (a few months ago) and reminded us that we needed a tune up. I emailed back, and he called me back the next day. He fit us into his schedule, happily and came to our house 2 days later. He is extremely good at tuning the piano, and very efficient with his time. He called to say he was running a little late about 1 hour prior to our appointment time, and yet arrived within 5 mins. of the appointed original time. He apologized for being late, and told me he always calls if he might be late because he never wants to waste anyone's time, especially a customer. He was friendly, professional, and explained everything he was doing and why he was doing it. He was happy to point out options to help improve the sound quality and condition of the piano, but he didn't ever pressure us into any unnecessary work. Now, three week later, the piano is still sounding wonderful, and I will always use East Best (and Mike) to tune our piano.

The tuning went very well. He happened to be available that day, so he came a few hours later. After he heard the piano, he told me about three different tuning and each price. I chose the double tuning, so he tuned the piano that day, which took about 90 minutes. About 10days later, he came back to tune the piano again and replaced the part. That took about an hour. I will have him come back again in a couple months to tune it again. After that, I will be on a six- month schedule. He was very informative, prompt, and professional.

We have employed Michael's services as a piano tuner for more than fifteen years. Together, we've been through two Steinway uprights and a baby grand Mason-Hamlin. Over the years Michael has become our “piano man”, the one to address our questions and concerns not only about piano maintenance, but also while choosing a new piano. Extensive knowledge of his craft is equal only to highest quality of the work he performs. Michael is extremely reliable, always showing up on time, never failing to return phone calls or e-mails. In addition to all his work-related virtues, Michael is a very pleasant person. Friendly and polite, he is always ready to answer any piano-related questions one might have. We highly recommend him to anybody aiming for a well-tuned piano at as reasonable price.

Michael was simply brilliant!  He was prompt and extremely attentive to detail.  Everything was explained thoroughly.  His knowledge and expertise were evident from the start to finish.  Pricing was very good for a piano that hadn't been tuned for approximately 30 years or more.

We plan to have him back for regular tunings and maintenance in the future.

I contacted him a few days ago after noticing his reviews on this site. We made an appointment and he came on time. He was very professional and knew exactly what he was doing. Explained that because of my piano being so out of tuned, most people will charge double for a 2 visit deal. He completed a comprehensive tuning in one day and was in depth about explaining my particular piano's details.

He seems to really know his stuff.
Response from East Best Piano

"1)The price was not $200,but $170.It was for double tuning=$145 and many sticking keys $25. 2)Key can stuck at any time and now another keys is sticking, not that keys what I fixed. 3)I red this report, called The member and said I can come tomorrow and fix it. This piano wasn't tuned for many years and was completely out of tune and had a very low pitch raise. Not a quarter, but 1/2 a tone and was really needs a double tuning."

Michael has an excellent ear and the piano always sounds close to new when he is done. He performs the service in reasonable time and always satisfactorily. We grade him a "B" in Punctuality only because he has, on occasion, called us to say "I'm in the area -- can I tune your piano today?" but responds professionally when we tell him we can't accommodate a last minute appointment. We had two other piano tuners before Michael (we have owned this piano for 10 years) and have stuck with him for the last 6 years. We will continue to do so. Highly recommended.

Our piano is very old and it was moved several times. We checked with angies list and called. He arrived explained what and how he would do the tuning and set about doing it. He was here over an hour. He told us that some of our kees were loose and when he came back he would repair them. He was professional and honest.

I had Michael come to tune my very out-of-tune upright piano. He was extremely professional and clean. He quoted me the $90 price over the phone when I booked an appointment and the only reason I paid the additional $5 was to have him repair a key that was sticking. He informed me of the charge and asked if I'd like him to fix it before he proceeded so I was fully aware of the additional $5. Michael was very polite. He responded to my initial phone call promptly and was flexible with his appointment schedule. He even made it to my house in this horrendous ice storm so I know he is truly dedicated to what he does. I will be sure to continue to hire Michael for future tunings.

It was excellent. The gentleman arrived on time and was very honest about what work was necessary to repair the piano.
Response from East Best Piano

"Description of Work:"..work on an upright spin it piano". It's not correct. The customer piano is not upright and is not "spin it", it is SPINET. So, correct would be "...work on a spinet piano". All others is good. Mike/E.B.Piano"

I saw his advertisement in a local Chinese newspaper. And when I searched on Google, I came across his website: http://www.chinesenj.com/Tuner:MichaelGopenko-Service.html. I was impressed with qualifications, and I contacted him via e-mail. He responded within the hour. When we sent up the meeting, Michael was very professional over the phone. On the day of service, he arrived on time and spent considerable time on each of the pianos as they have not been tuned for a while. Michael was thorough and meticulous, and you can tell that he has a pair of well trained ears. I am very satisfied with his work and will gladly use him again.

"Everythings OK, except one. The Member made a mistake in an address of my Web for chinese in NJ. Correct address is ...../Tuner:michaelgopenko.html . So, if it's possible to fix, please take out "-Service". It is important for me, because my chinese Web address nobody knows. Thank you. in NJ"

Michael was able to come out the day after I called him. He spent quite a while tuning the piano, which sounds very good now. His charge was $95 for tuning a baby grand and $40 for replacing a broken string. We'll definitely use him again.
Response from East Best Piano

"Everythings OK, except one. Twice in text "broken string", but it was 1 double string, really it's 2 strings."

Charged $90 for tuning. Piano had been moved through storage and had 2 stuck keys. Michael identified a problem with the jack springs and was able to reset them without removing the piano's action (very difficult repair for a spinnet model). He charged $15 for the repair. Very punctual and professional,. Based out of Maplewood, NJ but has a wide service area. His website is http://www.michaelspianoservices.com
