He was punctual and very knowledgeable. He knew how to safely take care of a fireplace. He gave me a lot of information, which was very helpful.

Excellent service overall. I read many great reviews of David The Village Sweep (and had some family references too) and they all matched reality. David and his crew were great. Very curteous and professional the entire time. They arrived on time and performed the whole service in about an hour. Bulk of the cost was because of the chimney cap purchased. I asked David to come back and re-crown the chimney, so I'll write about that later.

Based on the excellent Angie's List reports, I left a voicemail message (they were on vacation). A day after their promised return, my request for them to call was returned. After a brief conversation, Ms. Eakin offered that (unless there was some known issue) as long as my gas heating/cooling system was regularly serviced for efficiency, there was no need for their service! How refreshing! I felt that the least I could do would be to let other Angie's Listers know of my positive experience with this professional and honest provider.

Unfortunately, my mother had responded to a telephone solicitation by a fly-by-night, out-of-state chimney company, for a low cost cleaning. After they arrived, they scared her to death with a list of potentially life-threatening problems they allegedly found, all of which they could repair immediately without benefit of permits, cash preferred. Fortunately, she called us, and they were sent packing (they left very insulted). I contacted DTVS, and Tess spent about 25 minutes on the phone with me explaining our options and determining that we did not really need their services until we decide on which replacement heating unit we will be having installed. She saved us the considerable time and money of a service call, and was very knowledgable and pleasant to deal with.

Very through evaluation. Saved me $4,000 by telling me that I did not need complete redo of my lining. Seems honest and conscientious.

They could have easily charged a service fee to come out to the house to tell me this information. I thought that they were very honest.

He's very knowledgeable. He didn't push me in any direction such as whether I should go with the cheaper or more expensive liner. He just gave me a lot of information and let me make the decision myself on my own time. He started the work on time. Everything seems to be fine.

Clean, professional, and well equipped. They went right to work and did what was necessary after an inspection. Fortunately for me no major work or issues were discovered that need immediate attention other than the immediate repair to close a gap in two caps that had apparently been in existence for years.

They are fantastic. They are prompt, professional and cleaned up when the job was completed. The owner comes on every visit and is super nice. I've called on the off season with questions about my chimney and they are always very nice.

He confirmed my suspicion that the other contractor had installed the wrong size liner in my chimney, and suggested courses of action for re-mediating the problem in order to get into conformity with town building codes.

They were very clean and neat ,you could not tell they had cleaned the chimney because no soot came in house.They are very friendly and efficient. They were very helpful, but could not tell us why the bird came down the chimney.

They arrived, inspected the two chimneys but recommended that no cleaning was needed. They spent a good deal of time discussing with me proper care and use of the fireplaces and chimney flue, how to build a fire, etc. The inspection included going on the roof to look at the two chimneys outside of the house. For one, they recommended a new chimney cap because the old one was rusted (but he made sure to tell me that it was more for aesthetics than function). I opted to replace the cap. Both individuals were very professional, neat, and courteous.

The call to David's office to set up the appt. was handled very well. The person on the phone was friendly and helpful. They keep extensive records on all the work they do and found that they had never been to our home in the past (we are new owners of 50 year old home). She happily scheduled the appt. for a Saturday morning when my husband could be home. David and his team arrived on time. They were very friendly and extremely professional. Very clean, neat, and provided information to my husband about the fireplaces in our home.

I was very satisfied with their work. They were very courteous. I think that the job they did passed my inspection. I also liked how quickly they worked.

We were happy with their service. They had been to our home from the previous owners and already had knowledge of our home, they clearly keep good records.

Outstanding service, on time appointment, well presented and courteous staff. Highly recommended. David thanks for the tip on the upside down fire and warming up the flue. No smoke and great fire.

David the Village Sweep came on time and had good suggestions for us. He capped the chimney to prevent flying squirrels from getting in. He did a great job of cleaning out the chimney and is a very professional and friendly guy.

Everything went just fine. I also had a leak in the attic coming from around the flashing, and they appear to have fixed that, too.
