In September of 2012, the sand on the patio was coming up and washing away. When the patio was laid, we paid additional money to have sand that would become hard to avoid the sand from washing away and from weeds, etc from developing. When we contacted Olympic we were told that they would look into it. Unfortunately their service in the matter was non-existing. ( I contacted the sand manufacturer directly and as of (May 2014) they have finally started to correct the issue.)
In May of 2013, we had Olympic open the pool and the spa. During the opening process we tested the spa and it did not work as it did the prior year, several jets were not working and water was coming out of an area that air should be sucking from. We let Olympic know. After numerous calls they finally came to look at the spa in the end of July. In October, after three different attempts to fix, I was told I should be happy that 6 of the eight jets work. Bob the owner told us that he ordered new jets but they were on back order. They closed the pool and said they would install the 2 new jets in 2014 so all 8 would work. It was opened on May 8, 2014 and none of the jets now work. So all of 2013 season the spa did not work correctly. I will update this as to if 2014 is any better.
The service we have received on this has been horrible. It takes numerous calls to get a response and even more to actually get them to your house. When they show up, they tried to sell me a blower and an upgraded motor. After making a stink, they stated that it must be the jets. Since I refused to buy the blower, I now have a four foot open pipe sticking out of the ground with no top and no comment from them as to what will become of this pipe.
Another example of their "attention to detail" would be that in the build process (in 2012) my town required then to pressure test the water lines. To do that they needed to but a pressure gauge on pipes out to the pool. As of this writing (May 2014), the gauge is still there and I have asked them in each of the times they were here and at all the closings and openings when would they take it off and each time I have been told they will be back to do it. As of this writing (May 2014) it is still attached.
We love the pool and the concept they have provided was beautiful but the headaches associated with it are not worth it. I would not recommend using Olympic. Unfortunately I was not an Angie member at the time.
It is not very often that I take time out to write about a business that I havedealt with, but Olympic Pools is not just any business; they are exceptional. Our association with Olympic Pools began in August 2011 when my husband and Idecided to invest in an in-ground pool for our family after twenty-six years of?thinking about it?. You have to understand that whenever we purchase somethingfor our home my husband thoroughly investigates our options. This was no different.Ed from Olympic was the first of three companies that we brought in for anestimate. From the start we felt extremely comfortable with him as well as his creativeideas and suggestions for our backyard space. Since my husband and I knewnothing about pool ownership we relied on Ed?s motto, ?we are in thistogether?. Ed understands everything about the business and he surroundshimself with a staff that is courteous, knowledgeable and reliable.
After thoroughly reviewing the three options Olympic was our clear choice. Edbroke ground in October after guiding us through the permit process with our town. Hewas there during every step of the construction process as well as provided uswith his personal cell phone number to contact him with any concerns orquestions. Within three weeks the pool was dug, filled and covered for thewinter months.
Due to our unseasonably warm winter, Ed was ready to begin work again in March. Heprovided suggestions for the patio space and the next phase began. We neverrealized how much was involved in our project. Our goal was to open the poolfor Memorial Day and we did just that! We couldn't be happier! We receiveendless compliments about the design of the pool, the placement in our yard, andthe salt water filtering system. It truly is our backyard oasis! Thank you Edand Olympic Pools for making our dream become a reality.
