Fred came on time, set up and cleaning went very smoothly. when he finished the fireplace looked great, the area around was spotless. very pleased.

I spent $307 on that work. He was really good. He came on time and was clear. He had a set price and did a couple of extra things like clean up a frozen ash trap. He was organized and punctual. He was great. He told me how the ash trap worked and stuff that I did not know and had all the time in the world to answer all my questions.

I made an appointment about 10 days ahead of time. Fred was punctional and got right to work. I had other tradespeople in the house so I really did not pay all that much attention to what Fred was doing. He left the fireplace, family room, and I am assuming the chimney, spotless. He was also able to finally answer some questions about the fireplace that we have been asking for 11 years. He also left a small pile of wood, and offered to hook us up with a local firewood supplier if we needed. A brochure on properly building a fire and maintaining the chimney was a nice touch. The only caveat is that since he cleaned from the inside of the house, it may be wise to have someone inspect the chimney and cap above the roof line every few years. That being said, I would definitely hire Fred again to clean.

I called to make an appointment to have my chimney cleaned on 12/1. The job was done on 12/3. Our chimney was thoroughly cleaned. There was no mess left behind. Fred Heinrich was very professional and a pleasure to do business with. He even left a bundle of wood and sent a thank you note. We will definitely use him in the future.

Fred returned my initial call by the end of the day. He set up an appointment for the end of the week ( Friday, 3 PM.) Fred arrived at 3 pm on the dot! He went directly to work, worked very quickly and neatly and left in less than an hour. My living room was so clean you'd never guess that a sooty chimney had just been cleaned. He is very professional and courteous. In addition to this, I also received a thank you note. I will recommend this company to everyone I know!

Fred was extremely professional and friendly. He cleaned the chimney and fireplace thoroughly without a trace of soot left in the fireplace or room its located in. He was 3 minutes early which was very appreciated.

Great overall experience. Contacted Fed through Angie's List. He returned my call the same day and we made an appointment for a few days later. His hours are a bit limited (last appointment is 3pm), and there was about a 6 week wait for a Saturday appointment (no surprise during the first chilly week of the fall), so I took a weekday morning appointment. Fred showed up exactly on time and got right to work. He was extraordinarily clean and orderly. I had nightmares of a house full of soot, but to my amazement, he kept every molecule contained. After about 40 minutes of cleaning the firebox and flue, Fred gave me a much needed lesson on proper use of a fireplace, including safety; the kinds of wood to use; how to buy, store and stack firewood; how to start a fire properly; and a lot of other dos and don'ts. He left my home cleaner than he found it, with a nice little tied bundle of wood in my grate. Of course, I have no way of knowing just how clean or dirty my flue is, but judging by Fred's knowledge and professionalism, I feel very good about this service. He's a gentleman and a superior tradesmen. Highly recommended.

It went very well. Fred was on time and helpful. He gave instructions on how to operate the fireplace, what type of fireplace it is (which is helpful to new homeowners such as ourselves), and suggested what type of firewood to burn indoors. He was informative and friendly. Great service.

Had bought a new home recently and looked on Angies list for a reputable chimney sweep to check out our chimney. Called to make appointment, left message, called back promptly. He came on time and did a wonderful job. Explained in detail the condition of the chimney and what type of wood to use to reduce carbon build up. Will use again.

From the initial call (on a Sunday) to the end, Fred was very responsive, friendly and helpful. We scheduled an appointment for the same week I called and he was there on time (a few minutes early, actually). He explained what he was going to do and how it would affect the air in the room (it wouldn't) and covered everything in the vicinity of the fireplace with a solid dropcloth. He also told us not to worry about our son breathing anything in as long as he was out of the room (we have a 5 month old). The entire cleaning took about 30 minutes or so and he commented how the former homeowner or people before him probably hadn't cleaned that chimney in years (10+). Once he was done and cleaned up, he stayed and explained to us how to use the fireplace down to starting the fire and how to be careful of the ashes which should be placed in a metal can and outside away from the house and not in a paper or plastic bag. He told us the kind of wood to buy and suggestions of where we could get it. The kind of fireplace screen to buy to protect our young one and again suggestions of where we could get them. Overall it was a great experience and we even got a nice Holiday card from him! He was a pleasure to work with and we look forward to many beautiful fires in our fireplace thanks to Fred!

The initial phone call with Fred was a pleasure. He was very nice and pleasant in scheduling an appointment. Fred came exactly on time on the scheduled date, and provided excellent service in cleaning our chimney. My wife also had some concerns about cement molding around the fireplace, but he provided her with information that put her at ease. He also made great recommendations on fire safety and where to purchase accessories to our fireplace. We will call him again next year.

Fred arrived 7 minutes early for the 3pm appointment. He is a really nice person. He set up meticulously and took proper care not to get any ash or anything around the house. I had some minor concerns about an outdoor vent, a missing vent cover etc. Fred was knowledgeable and advised me where I can get replacement parts. One of the parts I was missing was a vent cover that slides to close to prevent cold air from coming into the house when the fireplace is not in use. I was planning to replace the fireplace doors (the current ones are ugly) , and Fred advised me that if I replaced the vent cover, I won't need the doors (saving me at least $1,000, and I prefer no doors anyway - the only reason I had them was for the draft, which will go away when I get the missing vent cover) . After a throrough cleaning, he spritz a fresh cinnamon spray and leaves a bundle if kindling wrapped witha bow in the fireplace w/his logo on it, a really nice touch. This guy is a gentelmen, and a real pro all the way. Will definitely use him again. Reputation is everything in the Chimney business and he has a solid one.

He was very professional and provided a great service. Extremely neat, very helpful and informative about chimney care. Left a little bundle of kindling in the cleaned-out fireplace! He is GREAT!

Working with this contractor was a very good experience. He was exactly punctual, very polite, and kept the work area very clean. He really seemed to care about his work, and in addition was quite a charismatic individual who came across as a sort of "ambassador of fireplaces." He seemed to truly enjoy providing me with an education on the proper usage and care of fireplaces, fireplace wood and fireplace accessories(I was a novice, asked a lot of questions, and took up a good chunk of his time-all of which he gave with a smile). Plus, my fireplace and chimney-which had gone decades without a cleaning-looked really spic and span.

Fred is great to work with. He is clean, neat and professional. Much better than other chimney cleaners that were always trying to sell us on other services. He also sends reminders when we are due for annual maintenance.

It went surprisingly well. We were surprised to hear that the chimney was in good condition and okay to use as we expected to hear that some work needed to be done since this area of home improvement seems to be rife with fraud. We were given many tips on operating a fireplace, storing firewood and he even gave us a cute little bundle of kindling for free! There was no mess whatsoever from the cleaning of the chimney. We had an appointment with another chimney sweep who charged one-half of Colonial's price, but he couldn't come until January 2. We decided to pay more for the quicker service before Christmas.

Fred returned my call the same night and set up an appointment for one fireplace/chimney cleaning on the following week. He showed up promptly, worked very quickly and left the area more clean than when he started. After looking at the secondary fireplace he remarked that it too needed a good cleaning (lots of Duraflame use from previous owner) and he set up a second appointment for a few days later. That appointment went just as smoothly. He was also very helpful by offering up tips on fireplace care and maintenance. I'll be sure to call him again next year for the same services (though he said he'd give a reminder call to check in then too).

Easy to get in touch with and got an appointment within a few days. He was right on time and very friendly. He was so organized and efficient in how he worked and not a speck of dust was left anywhere in the process or afterward. He said it is a vacuumed contained process so no mess to clean up but he still laid down tarps to protect carpets from his equipment. Very thorough. Pleasure to deal with and would highly recommend. Several members of my family have used him as well and we all have had the same positive experience.
