I called 4 contractors, although none said or did anything "wrong", I had a high level of confidence in Steve after meeting with him. I work from home, so experienced the entire process. Steve was on time, dependable, did top quality high level work. Completed the work on time, actually a little ahead of schedule. Floors are beautiful, I trusted his stain recommendation even though I wasn't certain exactly what it was I thought would be best so trusted his eye for the end product... very glad and relieved I took his advice.

SCL Hardwood Flooring and Decks did a good job. He took the damage out and replaced a couple pieces of flooring. He was very polite and tried to please.

It went well. Steve was the first to respond to our cry for help right before the Christmas holidays. He called us back within an hour or so and made an appointment with us for the next morning. The work was promptly commenced at the appointed time. He stayed in touch and kept us informed as to the progress of the work and was specific as to what needed to be done. The floor turned out beautifully and was completed right on schedule. The kitchen table's appearance was 100% improved. We were well satisfied with the results of his company's work.

Very knowledgeable about his craft. SCL was selected over three other contractors based on his thoughtfulness and thoroughness. Communication between client and contractor could have been better after he was selected. Do confirm scope of services to be performed for the price. Do your homework on the type of flooring material you desire, the manufacturer and the location of the distributor it is to be purchases from. Do ask for a follow up visit to review proposed services and ask questions about what is included and what is not. After it was all said and done, I would have preferred oil base primer. I just think it provides a better result and is more resistant to traffic and abuse.

I don't remember how much the estimate was for. I contacted them because they had a good rating on the website. They were good. I just decided not to have the work done at the time. I would use them in the future if necessary.

The project lasted about 6 days and ran smoothly. I could not ask for better quality or service.

I found him to be disinterested in the work. He provided the estimate over the phone without even hearing the details of the job.

Mr. Steve Leger is the owner/manager of SCL Hardwood Flooring and his performance and dedication to this job was nothing short of outstanding. He is highly attentive to detail and results. If it isn't in the realm of excellence he will voluntarily make the necessary corrections to bring the results to perfection. His price was a bit higher than competitive quotes but I never doubted in my mind that he was the best choice for the job. I definitely feel that I got my money's worth and I know that the outcome was superior to what it might have been if I hadn't decided to go with SCL Hardwood Flooring. My only regret is that I had not met him before I had new, unfinished floors installed in the kitchen and dining room: his expertise on hardwood flooring is awesome. This contractor is really dedicated to his work and customer satisfaction. The work on the balustrade was colossal. The original finish was over 80 years old. Sanding off this finish was a daunting task: it would gum up the sandpaper, making the work painstakingly difficult. American Chestnut really drinks up stain and I was not satisfied with the initial results. Mr. Leger completely redid the job. It was a huge amount of work but he did it without complaint - he did it knowing that the outcome would be superior. I know what was on his mind about that job because we talked about it in detail. He doesn't make excuses - he does what has to be done and he will readily admit if it can be better and he will make it that way. It ended up looking like a museum piece restoration when he was done. Before meeting Mr. Leger I already had two rooms refinished with a different flooring contractor. I got a bargain price on that work and the results showed it: I got what I paid for. Mr. Leger refinished the floors in both of those rooms. The difference was like night and day. The floors are beautiful. I had a huge amount of remodelling work done on the house I have dealt with a lot of different contractors and suppliers and service providers. Contractors like SCL Hardwood FLooring are almost like an extinct species today. This firm has a genuine work ethic and dedication to quality, performance and customer satisfaction. I am thoroughly delighted with SCL Hardwood Flooring and highly recommend this firm. After my experience with Mr. Steve Leger I would never think of another contractor for any of my flooring needs.

Steve is a very personable and knowledgeable individual. I really appreciated his insight and expertise. The best part of working with Steve is that he is always on the job with his crew. He doesn't just stop by to see how things are going, he is pretty much at the job site all day actually doing work! You can address any issues or concerns directly to him in person. That gave us a tremendous piece of mind. In terms of both quality and value, Steve gets our highest recommendation!

After waiting several weeks and watching the floor continue to dry out, I asked Steve if he would mind providing me with a written estimate that was needed for the plumbers insurance company. Steve was willing and mailed it out promptly. We'll repair the floors eventually when we are doing other work and we will gladly call SCL then.

I recently joined Angie?s List because I need some work done in my home and my wife told me to check Angie?s List before choosing a contractor. Since I never used Angie?s List before I wanted to test it. I wanted to see how other Angie List members judged contractors I had already used in the past and compare their judgments with what I thought about that particular contractor?s work. One such contractor that came to my mind was Steve Leger of SCL flooring who had rescued me and my floors a couple of years ago from a nightmarish experience with a contractor who had totally ruined my floors. The evil contractor had left swirl marks, hills and valleys in my floor that seemed to me to be irreparable. A friend of mine suggested I call Steve Leger; my friend said that if anyone could fix the mess that the bad contractor left it would be Steve Leger. So I called Steve. Not only did Steve fix the other guys mistakes, but he also made my floors look better than they ever looked before. Steve was a perfectionist and he paid attention to details that the average contractor would never consider. He and his team worked very smoothly together like a fine oiled machine; totally in sync. Everyone knew exactly what to do, there was very little conversation, and when the sanding was done Steve?s men cleaned up everything packed up their tools and then stood to the side watching while the Master Craftsman put on the last coat of finish; he had made magic happen with my floors. No one would have believed these same floors were destroyed a few days ago. They looked like brand new floors and they still look great. Steve was an honest straight talking guy who was very fair with me. I had expected that he would charge me more because the floors were in such bad shape when he started; but he didn?t charge much more than the guy who ruined them. Steve said it isn?t really harder to do it the right way you just need to know how. He was a real nice fellow; knowledgable and very professional. I liked him and I would not hesitate for a second to use him again. So I decided to see what others on Angie?s list had to say about Steve Leger and I came across a person who rated Steve with an F but said they didn?t contract with him for the job; so they never saw his work. The person says they decided to give Steve an F because he pointed out other things in the house that needed fixing and this person took offense to that. Wow that is unbelievable. A professional craftsman who this person didn?t have the sense to hire and who used his own time and experience without being compensated to point out problems that existed in that person's home and the person punishes him for that.. Steve Leger worked wonders and made miracles happen for me and he does not deserve to be rated poorly by some nasty person?s wanton expressions apparently made for no other reason than to satisfy their own vicious impulses to malign and vilify others. That persons post was one of the first encounters I had with Angie?s List and the only purpose it served was to erode my confidence in the list. I since discovered that the person who rated Steve without just cause was an exception and that other posts on Steve and other contractors I had dealt with in the past were more reliable. I thought it only right to stand up for a good contractor, and a real nice fellow, who did right by me. Oh and the evil contractor > I never paid him. He sued me and I counter sued him; I had pictures of his work first and of Steves after and I won.

Steve had many good ideas. We could tell he has been in the business for a long time. He is meticulus with details. He is truly a master at his craft.

Though I'm confident his company would have done a great job, based on ratings on Angie's List and his assurances verbally, we decided to use a family friend to do the work. I found SCL owner to be a little pushy and cocky about his great rating on Angie's List, which made me feel a bit uncomfortable. I prefer a more humble attitude.

I did not use Steve. I had the work done by another company and am very satisfied. I have submitted a separate report.

Steve did an overall excellent job in refinishing our oak floors. From start to finish the job was handled in a professional, friendly manner. Steve is a perfectionist in every way. He is extremely knowledgeable and took the time to explain the entire sanding and staining process. He answered all our questions and made us feel comfortable with our decision to hire him. Steve does the work himself, he does NOT use subcontractors. His staff is friendly and courteous. He arrived on the scheduled date and sealed off all the doors and entry ways with plastic sheets to keep dust to the rest of the house to a minimum. He also sealed all the cabinet doors and drawers to keep them dust free. He spent a lot of time with us trying different stain samples to make sure we picked the right color, he even mixed a custom color right on the spot. Steve was very accommodating to our schedule, he worked on the weekend to get the job done before we left for vacation. He sanded the floors a number of time, applied stain and three coats of polyurathane. Overall, we are extremely pleased with the way our floors turned out. They look beautiful, better than new. We would definitely recommend SCL Flooring to anyone who wants to have a job well done.

Steve came at a time convenient to us to give us an estimate. He was obviously very knowledgeable and we felt that he really knew what he was talking about. I t turns out we were more pleased with his recommendations than what we originally had in mind. He showed up on time with his crew. They were skilled, courteous and concerned about the quality of their work. They transformed the downstairs level of my house. It is so much nicer and I feel really good about the way it looks. If you want a true craftsman who really cares about his work....you want to call Steve.

Steve came to our home and discussed and recommended the best type of flooring for us. He was very knowledgeable and his estimate was very competitive. We immediately knew he was the one to go with. He showed up to do the work on time. He had numerous suggestions and we are very happy we went along with his ideas. We couldn't be more pleased with the outcome.

Steve took a lot of time in explaining the different types of finishes and the entire process. He even had samples of various stains to assist me in making my decision and explained why applying 3 coats was important. The other quotes I received didn't include that level of explanation nor did their estimate include as many coats (which I later discovered is why the floors will look as good in 5 years as they do now). The job started and finished exactly as presented. Steve and his crew were polite, neat and had a great work ethic.

The floor off my kitchen area is a high traffic area in need of refinishing. The workmanship was excellent. Steve recommended a stain that was a perfect match to the decor. Excellent job!

It went well. They came out for the estimate. They charged me for the estimate. They are very opinionated in regards to the color selections. They did good work. They got done when they said that they would.

Start to finish and excellent experience. Steve was prompt in his responses from our request for a quote through finishing details. Quality of the work was excellent and his team was flexible enough to work around and with the other contractors on the job. End Result: A very fine job and a pleasant experience.

Steven Leger, owner, showed up on time for the estimate. I received a detailed proposal for the work to be completed and he explained everything to a T. Steve took a small deposit and told me a date and time frame the job was to start. Everything went perfectly, as told, and the job was done in a timely manner. The workmanship was excellent, the price was fair for the work performed, and would recommend SCL flooring to anybody who wants a company who takes pride in their workmanship. There are not too many companies out there who give you personal attention like SCL flooring.

The owner of the company, Steve Leger, had been recommended very highly to me by a home owner. I called SCL because I wanted to change the color of my floors and stairwell, since it was a 2 year old home I thought the quality of my floors were fine. Firstly he arrived promptly and had many samples for me to choose from. He measured my floors and gave me a price immediately. Not only were the results outstanding, but I didn't suffer from any allergies due to his careful treatment with dust/chemical.

Let me start by saying I'm a perfectionist. Steve was easy to get a hold of, and always called me back promptly. He was able to start right away, which appealed to me. He was prompt and very talkative. I wish I could say that his work was an A, but I just can't. I asked him to match the shine of my existing adjacent floors. I definitely saw a difference in the shine (the floor he refinished was much more of a matte finish). But what bothered me the most was that the floor was not as smooth as my existing floors that were refinished 4 years ago. He seemed surprised that I would get on my hands and knees and feel the floor. There were definitely A LOT of tiny little bumps, some I could pick off with my fingernail. There are none on my existing floors. He was willing to bump up the shine, but we went around in circles with the smoothness factor. However, the dents and scratches were gone, so I was happy about that.
