Generally, the company performed routine tasks such as lawn-cutting, application of fertilizer and insecticides adequately. However, there was a communication problem somewhere within the company, probably in the office. Many of my calls were not returned, nor my requests fulfilled. I had to call repeatedly to get certain tasks done, several times the crews left paper cups from drinks that I had given them in my flowerbeds, and blew debris into my basement window wells during the work. They also took breaks between tasks, possibly on my time; I can?t be sure because the charges were clearly itemized on the bill. Terry, one of the women that worked in the office, was very nice and seemed efficient. However, the owner?s wife, who also worked in the office, made several mistakes in relaying messages to her husband and the work crews. For example, I requested that a group of hostas in my backyard be thinned in the spring before they grew too thick. I told the office I wanted to be there so that it would be done as I wanted and we could schedule a mutually-convenient appointment. After several weeks, I called back and the owner?s wife told me they would come ?whenever I wanted?. I picked a date, and an afternoon time-window, and then remained at home all afternoon, but nobody showed up. When I called to see what happened, I was told they had forgotten to come. They never called to reschedule the work until I reminded them in the fall, when the work was finally done. In the fall I requested that my lawn be re-seeded after I returned from a trip, so that I could water it daily to help it grow. I specifically told the office not to re-seed during the week I?d be away. When I returned, I realized the lawn had been re-seeded; the grass did not grow in certain areas and ended up having to be re-seeded, again. Finally, when first I hired Legend, I requested that leaves raked from my property be taken away, and not just left in the street. I was told there would be an extra charge, which I agreed to pay for. The leaves from the spring-cleaning where taken away, however, the fall clean-up leaves were left at the curb. I called the office to tell them to remove them (once, which they did), and the other times I just left the leaves at the curb because I got tired of calling them. All in all, my husband and I received only fairly-good landscaping services.
