I called 1 hour chimney for an estimate for chimney liner work. The telephone response was very professional and prompt. Tony came over in the afternoon and inspected the work requirements and provided a written estimate with all details. He also explained the work to be done and how will it be done.
I also got a few other quotes from other vendors.  They were either too high or did not detail the actual work to be performed.
After carefully evaluating all estimates, I decided to move forward with 1 hour chimney. They provided me with an approximate work start time on site. They were on time with all the technical staff and tools. The work was completed very professionally with great care. They cleaned everything after the work was completed.
I also noticed that Tony was very particular about the quality of the work. When he was not satisfied with a particular work, he asked his assistant to re-do the work to make it perfect! That is very rare in chimney-work!
I would highly recommend Tony's company (1 hour chimney) to anyone with confidence. He is very professional and articulate in communication. It was a pleasure to get the work done by 1 hour chimney.

Referred by a friend who had a similiar problem. Came promptly and provided an estimate which was substantially lower than the other estimate. I had to first have a new water heater installed by another contractor. When I called to schedule the work, they came the next day. They did the work promptly and cleaned up.

We were getting a smoke smell in the room over the living room whenever we were using our wood burning fireplace. 1 Hour Chimney thoroughly inspected the chimney inside and out, and concurred with us that a tree hitting our house my have knocked interior tiles loose, letting smoke come through into the walls. They (Vick) provided me with more than one scenario, and advised us as to what we could do without completely changing our fireplace and chimney while meeting national safety standards. They provided us with a reasonable explanation of acceptable and unacceptable procedures, with backup documentation for our insurance company. After reviewing their proposal, we elected to have them line and seal the chimney with Thermocrete ceramic sealer. We booked a time, and they were punctual with everything they need to do the job. They cleaned the chimney and applied the Thermocrete lining over the course of about 7 hours. They covered everything in my living room, and used a shop vac to prevent dust & soot from entering the room. An exceptionally clean job!!! A week later they came back to adjust the damper; we had a small hiccup in scheduling, but they worked around what I could do and were very accomodating. I would highly recommend this company and this service to anyone with chimney repair concerns.

We were purchasing a house and needed a level 2 chimney inspection as well as replacement of a firewall/brick liner. The team found a leak in in the attic flashing (and fixed) as well as performed the required labor as quoted and required. I would hire them again.

I contacted two (2) chimney Contractor's from Angie's List to inspect and evaluate my chimney and flue pipes in need of repair/replacement. Both Contractor's responded very promptly  to inspect chimney and flue pipes and clearly described damage to existing chimney clay pipe liner and boiler flue pipe and provide an estimate for repairs. "1 Hour Chimney" had the lowest price and they were local to my community, so I chose them. I called 1 Hour Chimney at 1:00 p.m. to let them know they had the job and asked them to schedule the repair. They immediately contacted the town Building Inspector to obtain a Permit for the work, and obtained one that afternoon due to the emergency condition of the chimney, and were at my house at 4:00 p.m. Besides the quick response, the men were extremely neat and efficient with all the work performed, especially in removing the existing damaged boiler flue pipe and opening up the brick wall for the new 6" diameter Stainless Steel Liner. All debris was contained and appropriate dust control  was utlilized (wet brick and old cement with water prior and during chopping.) The installation of the new chimney liner, chimney cap and boiler & water heater flue pipes went like clock work, and they completed the job in less than (2) two hours! In conclusion, 1 Hour Chimney was fantastic choice and were very professional and extremely neat in every aspect of the job. I highly recommend them for any chimney work.

They were very reasonable. We asked for metal liners and they came and looked at the chimney openings. They told us that if we put that liners they it would not be sufficient for our current gas spoiler. They told us that we need not put a new liner and the existing one was enough. They did not go ahead to sell anything though asked them for it. I think they were reasonable and nice. They came, did their job, and left. They seem to do a good job and did not make a mess. They first cleaned the bottom and then went on top of the roof. I would rate them a B overall as I did not know how they clean all this and they did not pursue cleaning the gas burners. From what I saw the quality of work they did was good. They were every responsive. We had a snow storm and they called to reschedule. They also called me to let me know when they came. They came within the window of time they gave. UPDATE:  The above report was written by the angies list representative.  I told them I gave you a B Overall not because you did not clean the gas boiler burners.  My B rating was more because of the following:  We have two flues as explained by your team at first inspection.  The second time you came out to clean.  While I did see you clean the top and bottom of the chimney for the wood burning fireplace (which is why I gave you an A rating for all those categories as I saw the soot drop from the top and get vacuumed from the bottom) I wasn't sure if you would have also cleaned the flue for the boiler.    If you did the same thing for the boiler flue then your team did not catch any deposits that you had cleaned from the top as noone went to the basement.  Even if this is not part of your service I think your team could have went an extra mile and explained the cleaning was gonna work for my chimney before they started so I could understand as I am a new home owner and this is the first cleaning I have received.  This to me would have given you the extra needed for me to provide you an A.

"Dear Member I am surprised that you have scored B overall after scoring all five A's. You said: " I would rate them a B overall as I did not know how they clean all this and they did not pursue cleaning the gas burners". Chimney companies do not clean gas boiler burners, and it would have been illegal if we did. You have to be a certified plumber to do that. 1 Hour Chimney thanks you very much for posting a report. After the sweeping and inspection we were told that we needed to install stainless steel liners in two of our flues. This was due to gaps in the mortar between flue tiles and cracks in the flue tiles. In addition to the liners, we were also told we needed to install exhaust fans at the top of our chimney do artificially create draft in the liners. The liners would have been too small to create a natural draft for our larger fireplaces. This would have cost $10,000. We called in a second company who told us that the gaps and cracks we were seeing were to be expected in an older chimney. They were also very surprised at the lack of "scrubbing" 1 hour did on our fireplaces and smoke chambers. Pretty much said it was as if they didn't do anything, but charged us as though they did. We hired them to come back in and do a proper cleaning which resulted in a visible difference. They said that we did not have to install liners. The new company essentially saved us about $9500 and the use of our fireplaces.
Response from 1 Hour Chimney -- AAA Chimney Corp

"Dear Member, I'm sorry but I have to respond to this report and let the Angie's List members know the exact details of this inspection. You have called us to do a Level 2 Inspection of your fireplaces because you had a chimney fire. Level 2 inspection is a detailed camera inspection of the flues. NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) 211 states the following: Damaged or deteriorated liners: If the flue liner of a masonry chimney has been softened, cracked, or otherwise deteriorated such that it no longer has the continued ability to contain the products of combustion, i.e heat, moisture, creosote and flue gases, it shall be either removed and replaced, repaired, or relined with a listed liner system or other approved material that will resist corrosion, softening, or cracking from flue gases at temperature appropriate to the class of the chimney service. We have about 20 pictures and videos of your chimney flues and a full report which was emailed to you. At these hard economic times we know that none of us wants to know that we have a $10,000 problem, but it is our job to give you all the details Level 2 requires. Also you said that the other company told you “gaps and cracks were to be expected in an older chimney and that you do not need to install liners” our findings are not just opinions but professional Level 2 detailed explanations according to NFPA guidelines, like it or not. The end result was that the other company told you what you wanted to hear, and charged you an additional $500 for the sweeping that was already done by a certified CSIA company."

I THINK THIS COMPANY DID A GREAT JOB. THEY REMOVED THE OLD LINER, AND CLEANED THE CHIMNEY BEFORE THEY INSTALLED THE NEW LINER. IT IS A SMALL FAMILY BUSINESS, AND THEY TRY TO FIT YOU IN RIGHT AWAY.
