As scheduled, the technicians came on time. Protected the work area both in front of the fireplace and in the basement next to the chimney. First they swept the Fireplace flue then started spraying the flue with Ceramic Sealant (Thermocrete). Both Techs were very clean and professional. Later on Tony (owner of the company) came to say Hi and to check how the work was progressing. It was such a pleasure discussing the details of the repairs with Tony. After he was done explaining , I felt like I knew everything about chimneys.In approx. 6 hours they repaired both flues, concrete crown, replaced caps, waterproofed the chimney... Very clean, careful and as professional as it gets.I never thought I would have such a good experience with a chimney company. I give them 5 shining stars and would highly recommend them.
He explained in detail all the problems chimneys had, to both myself and the owner and gave me a detailed quotation for all the repairs . Before closing on the house I got full credit for all chimney repairs Tony recommended.
I was so impressed with Tony's professionalism that I became Angie's list member just so I can white this review.
Now, as the owner of the house, I have scheduled all the chimney repairs with 1 Hour Chimney for next week. After the work is completed I will be back with another review.
When coming for an estimate, called ahead and was right on time. The team arrived for the work right on time and returned same day to do expanded work. They were clean, efficient and provided high quality work. They even removed an unwanted antennae that was stuck on my roof. We are very happy with the service and would highly recommend to others.
I've never had a nicer experience having work done on or around my home. When Tony came to do the estimate, he was punctual, very professional, did a thorough inspection. He was amazingly easy to talk to and I felt very comfortable asking any and all the questions I wanted answered, which I felt were answered honestly and in full. If I didn't understand, he patiently found a way for me to understand. It was obvious he takes pride in his company and wants quality work to be done, with quality products, and that attitude instills confidence that a great job will be done.
I didn't have too much contact with his workmen except when I greeted one of them at the door when they arrived. He smiled, greeted me, told me who he represented; I showed him where the basement was, knowing he'd need to work down there as well as on the roof. They were amazingly quiet doing what they needed to do, which I would guess took about 2 to 3 hours.

We called 1 hour -AAA Chimney Corp based on an Angies list evaluation . Tony Sapun, a CSA certified Inspector, and the owner of the company arrived . We did not tell him we had had other estimates as we wanted him to be free to give us the best price and information. He took him time , looked at all the parts we had been told needed repair and said they were fine with one minor job we could do ourselves- he told us how-. The previous contractor told us that debris in what we thought was a chimney clean out were cracked tiles fallen from the chimney. NOT CORRECT. It was not even a chimney clean out! And the liner that was recommended by the apparently dishonest contractor would not have fit our chimney. This man, Tony Sapun , is no-nonsense and totally honest. He did not charge us anything ---after spending about an hour on the evaluation. We would hire him again in a flash because of his knowledge and his commitment to honesty.

The guys came over two or three more times and sealed it pretty well so that it would only drip during the heavy rains. The story I kept hearing from the secretary is that all chimneys leak with a large amount of rain. Then towards the end, I kept getting attitude from them about how many times I kept calling and what can they do since that's the nature of the business that chimneys leak with large rain.
I understand it would drip here and there during very heavy rains but not constant dripping and running down that I have now during this nor'easter (12/9/2014) here in NJ. I have to put containers in the chimney to catch the water AND we are not even done with the storm and the winter season.
I will have to reach out to someone else to get a second opinion as this is not normal. I wonder if they closed all the cracks all AROUND the chimney to stop the water from getting through. I am very disappointed as the whole business relationship looked very promising. I want to leave this review to make sure it is not all straight AAA comments. Also, they took money for the permit and someone was supposed to come over from Kearny to inspect but that never happened. I kept asking about it and I just got the "I'll check the paperwork" answer.
"Thank you [member name removed] for writing a review but I have to disagree with you. Every time you called. we came within 2-3 days. So far we came 5 times, not 2-3 times. Last time you called was because you used the fireplace and smoke came in the house. You were all upset about it, but when I asked you to make sure the damper was fully opened while I was one the phone with you, you admited that you did not open it correctly and apologised. Yesterday you texted me the picture of the leak in the firebox, and my response was (you have it on your phone) " wow this looks bad, this time I have to stop by myself and check it, Ill be there Friday or Saturday" You have to understand that we do not manufacture dampers but install them. When we installed the damper you went up on the roof yourself and checked it and said that it looks great. Unfortunately, there are different types of dampers, and sometimes a certain type is not adequate. It is impossible to know until you try it in order to figure it out. In your case this particular damper obviously it is not working as it should (if you are closing the damper as per instructions I left you with). On Friday as we agreed I will stop by and check it again, if the damper is not good for your fireplace it will be replaced with a different type of damper at no cost. When I install a damper it HAS to work, period... If I can not figure it out using different types of dampers then I simply remove the damper I installed and refund the money. It is my responsibility for the damper or anything else I install to work perfectly!!!! For past 14 years I have installed at least 300 dampers and I have never had a problem,not even once. As a homeowner I understand your frustration, but you have to admit that I have sent my technicians within 2-3 days every time you called."
AAA sprayed two chimney linings with a ceramic coating, which sealed cracks and broken flue pipe. The chimney's required three coats in order to build a solid layer that is strong and lasting. AAA is the only contractor I know in the area who can do this type of work. They were able to return my chimneys back to functioning units that are safe. It was a tough job and Tony and his men worked many long hours without a break. They did a fantastic job and I highly recommend them.
