When we bought my grandparents’ house a few years back, we knew it would eventually need work. With the exception of a few updates in the late 1980s, much of what was in the house was from when the house was built in 1960. We knew it would be a big project as we wanted to remodel our kitchen, both bathrooms, refinish our floors (and stairs), replace all the interior doors, re-tile our entryway, enlarge our master bedroom and put in a walk-in closet. We brought in many contractors for estimates, but each one was more expensive than the next. Then we brought in Big Dog Construction. Telly worked with us to formulate a plan to do all the updates we wanted to do and keep it within our budget. Telly and his crew were very accommodating, planning the renovations in such a way that allowed us to relocate to a different part of our house, with our pets, for the four week period. Mario and his team did an exceptional job, they arrived on time every day and cleaned up before leaving every night, even staying late a few times to complete what they were working on. They were professional, courteous and knowledgeable, and any questions or concerns we had were addressed immediately and if they couldn't help, it was escalated to Telly. They were even flexible to our last minute changes. Overall it was a very positive experience and we were very pleased with the quality of work they did. We look forward to using Big Dog Construction for future projects and we would highly recommend them to friends and family.

The designer was was not responsive. She took sometime getting back to us with the design. They were great once we got them but once we were ready to move forward with the project they weren't avaiable in the time frame we wanted it done.

Big Dog Construction is exceptional. Telly, the owner, is professional, responsive, organized, and impressive with his can-do attitude. When everyone else says "not possible" (e.g., the re-wiring in my kitchen), Telly says, "possible" and makes it work. Telly's can-do attitude is supported by his A+ crew (courteous, clean, efficient), headed by Mario. Not even 30, Mario is an expert and does exquisite work. Show him a picture of what you want done, and he'll figure out how to make it happen. Telly and his crew went above and beyond during my project. Example: at 1am my sink sprung a leak. I texted Telly, and he replied immediately and supported me by text. And then, since I couldn't get a 24-hour plumber, Telly himself came over and fixed with my sink at 3am! Another example: Big Dog found a day in their very tight schedule to complete my punch list before my house re-warming party so that everything would be finished--and beautiful--for it and my guests could admire the job. As you can imagine, with their exceptional service and results, Big Dog Construction is in high demand. This means a couple of things: 1) When they give you a schedule and deadlines, follow them. If you miss a deadline, you will have to wait for the crew to be free to resume your job. This happened to me: since my custom cabinets didn't arrive on time, I had to wait another two weeks for the crew to find a window of time to return. Telly will certainly figure out a way to work out snafus in schedules (that can-do attitude!), but it's best to avoid them as it will delay your project. 2) Because Big Dog is so accommodating and honest, you might begin to begin think, as I did, that everything they do for you is included in the quoted price of the project. It's not. Whenever you ask for something to be done, just be sure to ask whether it's included so as not to avoid any misunderstandings. They will do everything possible to accommodate you and make you happy, but they still have a business to run! They're extraordinarily professional; you in turn should be a cooperative and appreciative client. Not only did I get an amazing bathroom and kitchen from Telly and his crew, but I got to see and appreciate what a positive, gracious, can-do attitude looks like--a real life's lesson.

My wife and I are very happy with the results; which meet all expectations. Best comment I can make- I would recommend Big Dog to anyone (I never give recommendations!). From start to finish, we were always on the same page. Plus, the Team was very flexible in finding alternative (same or better) solutions to any issues they encountered. Best of all, there was no games with the agreed upon price before the work started. Telly stated upfront- '...not the cheapest, not the most expensive, but worth it.' From experience, I can now attest to that. Full experience with the Team was very reassuring, especially considering the main area of your house is down to the studs and subfloor. Kelly is a great communicator. Telly has great ideas and suggestions. Mario, Gaspar, and Richie are a great Team with immense construction skills. Here is the best part- The Team committed to gutting and rebuilding a full kitchen and entryway in 2 weeks and they delivered!! As little stress a possible, might I add...... I will be doing more work with the Team in the near future.

Initially they were very responsive, spent 20 minutes on the phone explaining what I wanted to do in the MBath and Kitchen. Set a date for them to do a on site assessment. They called the day before and canceled because my job was too far (about 40 minutes). About a week later got a call from George [Last name removed] from Big Dog who said he'd come look at the job. He did. Again, another good conversation followed by the promise of references, and a quote. After 2 weeks . . . NOTHING! Finally reached George by phone who promised to send Quote by Friday. Nothing ever provided.

Where do I begin? Each and every one of the folks behind Big Dog Construction is dedicated to exceptional work and honest business practices. And as a bonus, they’re just all-around great human beings. We hired the company to do a complete kitchen renovation, wall removal and overhaul of an adjacent playroom/den. From jump, Kelly kept us informed and was super-responsive when we had questions about our project. Telly is knowledgeable, upfront and just a pleasure to work with. His recommendations on cabinet and counter vendors were great too. He and his crew arrived exactly when they said they would every day and were dead-on accurate about how long the project would take. Project Leader Mario and the rest of the guys were amazing in every way and kept the house as clean as possible even on the messiest days of the project. Throughout the job, we were so impressed at the level of pride taken over even the smallest details—things like pull/knob styles, symmetry around windows (even in an older home where symmetry can be elusive), tile installation, molding and much more. Our new kitchen and playroom are even more beautiful than we imagined. I will call Big Dog Construction for future jobs in a heartbeat.

The entire experience was very pleasant from day one. The owner, Telly came to the house to give us estimates on several projects we wanted to work on. You could tell that he actually cared about the projects and took his time explaining several options. He even drew out a few designs for us and gave us ideas we hadn't thought of. He got the estimates to us within a few days and we picked the ones we wanted to work on first. The projects were scheduled for about 4 weeks later. In the interim, we decided to add another major project to the work which was already scheduled. Big Dog was very accommodating. They checked with another client who was scheduled the week after us and asked if they could push them back a week. The other client agreed and Big Dog was able to fit us in for 2 weeks of work. Kelly, the assistant project manager was a pleasure to deal with and was very helpful throughout the entire process. When the work began on May 1st, Mario (the foreman), Gaspar, and Riccardo showed up. These guys were great. Very polite and respectful and eager to work. They arrived the same time every morning, for 2 weeks. They worked all day with a small lunch break in between and did a pretty good job cleaning up the job site each evening. The quality of their workmanship was impressive. They also paid a lot of attention to detail. Any little thing we addressed or asked if it could be done differently was taken care of. Mario was extremely helpful when it came to making decisions about things. He would always ask if we wanted things to look one way or another, and we almost always wound up going with his suggestions. The only reason I downgraded the price to a B was because their prices were a little higher than some other estimates. But, you get what you pay for. The quality of the work and the attention to detail is worth the price. I plan on hiring them again in the near future for some other projects we want to work on. Thanks guys!!

We couldn't be happier. Telly is a wonderful contractor to work with and would gladly hire him again when we redo our bathroom. He was knowledgeable and quick to respond. We were very pleased with the quality of work and the professionalism of all workers we met and had in our home. I was looking to update my townhome and immediately connected with Telly and his vision during our consultation. His guys did awesome work and paid attention to every little detail. His assistant Kelly is a sweetheart and a wonderful person to reach out to for all questions and concerns. She was on top of everything, easy to reach and always in touch. The completed kitchen blew me away but the overall experience was fantastic! They touched every inch of the home in some form or fashion and went above and beyond to make it look new, fresh & in move in condition. Telly, Mario and the rest of the team were wonderful. We completely gutted and remodeled our existing master bathroom, put down new flooring & painted our master bedroom and enclosed an alcove to create a walk in closet. Not only was everything handled professionally with a complete willingness and flexibility to make everything exactly how we wanted it, Telly and team went above and beyond to provide little details that were not included in our original plan (painting the bedroom ceiling because it looked drab against the newly painted bathroom & closet ceilings / purchasing new baseboard trim when we both realized we had forgotten that detail at the beginning). We also encountered delays at different times in the project. When we lost almost a week due to inspection delays they stayed until 8pm for multiple days in a row in order to get back on schedule. The barn doors we ordered for both bath and closet were damaged and unusable. By the time we had them fixed, Telly and team were in the middle of another job. He still found a way to fit us in and get the doors installed and the job completed. We are thrilled with our new bathroom & bedroom and look forward to hiring Big Dog Construction again for future remodeling jobs!

Kitchen renovation went smooth from start to finish!

The owner & project manager were so easy and wonderful to work with. They are professional, kind, have excellent attention to detail, and extremely wise. They listened to my wishes & were able to continue with the project even while I was in Africa via email. I always felt like a partner in the process and the final product was beyond my expectations! The house expanded from 1100sq.ft., 3 bedrooms, 1 1/2 bathrooms, unfinished basement to 1900sq.ft. including 3 1/2 bathrooms, 5 bedrooms, kitchen, back deck, living area, and garage. The estimate was on schedule and on budget. Telly & George listened to all of my ideas and acted on them according to my dreams! They went way beyond what was expected!!! I will call them back for ANY jobs I need!

Working with George and Telly was a complete pleasure from the very first meeting. We were apprehensive about the work since it would require the demolition of so much of the existing structure but their experience was reassuring. The budgeting process was detailed and clear. When we completed that process and realized the budget had come in slightly above where we were targeting Big Dog was able to work with us and get us to a place that we were comfortable. The project was not without issues (as any project of this size would be). The only notable issue stemmed from working with a sub-par architect (not associated with Big Dog). Thankfully George approached the challenge by ensuring he presented a solution when he highlighted the problem and was patient, calm and reassuring even when I wasn't! George's engineering background proved to be very helpful in determining cost effective solutions and allowing us to stay on schedule. George and Telly are both family men. I have 2 small children and a dog and was comfortable with the crew in/out of the house when we were there and when we weren't. The house was clean and the project was organized and George and Telly expected their teams to keep it that way. One day we noted in passing that one part of the project had been a bit messy and they were immediately at the house and having it cleaned up! I am definitely tough to please and my 'punch list' was quite detailed and it was 100% addressed! We unfortunately just found out we need to do extensive work in our basement due to some moisture issues and I wouldn't consider calling anyone else.

From Start to finish, Mr. Telly had us at ease and informed every step of the way. His workers conducted their tasks with the utmost professionalism and craftsmanship. We couldn't be more pleased with our Home. Thank you Bigdog Construction, Mt Telly and Crew.

We are very satisfied with the service provided by Telly and the guys at Big Dog Construction. Telly, within about 5-10 minutes, answered my email via Angie's List and was able to get out to us for an estimate the same day. It was Memorial Day weekend so we weren't expecting anyone to get back to us that weekend! Telly went above and beyond and provided us quickly with the information needed for the insurance company. The work was started about a week later. Telly's guy Tommy and his crew were great! The work was completed on time. We couldn't be happier with the results! Thanks guys!

Telly & his team did an amazing job remodeling our master bathroom! We picked out our own fixtures, tiles, faucets, tub, etc. & he was very patient with us when we ran into problems with our choices. He helped us remedy the situation quickly & without too much added cost. I am admittedly very picky & he worked very well with me, always professional & accommodating! We had problems in our bathroom like our water froze in the cold weather & in general the hot water would take a very long time to turn on & our floors felt like ice, the bathroom is located above our garage. He found simple & affordable ways to resolve these problems as well! This past winter we did not have any freezing & the water gets warm almost immediately. His team is very professional, very careful to minimize the mess of construction & clean up after themselves every day. I have two young toddlers & they were even sensitive to their nap times even though I did not ask that of them at all! Telly & his team are honest, trustworthy, hard-working, very responsive, fair in price & do a great job. I am so happy & more than satisfied with the work that was done! I will definitely be using them again & again for future house projects & have recommended them to family & friends!
Of note, they also did some work in my kitchen remodeling our island. I actually drew a sketch of what I wanted & Telly & his team made it happen. Again, a great job for which I am so grateful!

Big Dog Construction (Telly) contacted me on the night that I purchased the Angie's Deal.  We discussed the job and scheduled a date a few days later to have the painting done.  Alan arrived on time for the work.  He painted the original room.  I explained that I had purchased other paint and was prepared to move forward with additional rooms in different colors if we could agree on a reasonable price.  Alan reviewed the rooms, spoke with Telly, and never stopped working.  He completed the entire home in 2 1/2 days.  The workmanship was good and the price was excellent. I was very pleased.
