"Hi [removed member name], I agree with you in regards to the "competitive process" of the Big Deal. We are normally a company with straight-up, simple pricing. The Big Deal takes a lot of the "control: away from the business owner, and subsequently, the homeowner. In some business models, that works well for ease of service... in others, not so much. Either way, in an industry with literally no price regulation, the options can be confusing. At the time of posting, our price-per-window comes in slightly lower than the Responsibid national average of $13.14 for a double hung window. I have seen window cleaning companies in our are charge between $4 and $25 for the same window. I always guessed that beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and each individual business owner's financial needs are different. Yes, there are some outfits out there that are uninsured / tax evaders etc. that charge less because they can pocket the profits and pay minimum wages, but there are also legit companies who do a great job and happen to charge less. That being said, there are also guys that charge an arm and a leg for a shoddy job (another Angie's member that I serviced today had a horror story about another company who did just that) As a small, niche company (we only do residential), our goal is not to bait and switch, but to provide an all-inclusive service at a fair and transparent price. We probably could charge a lot more, but there's a fine line between fair price and highway robbery that I personally would have a hard time ethically crossing. Either way, the Big Deal was a winter experiment for us, and in some ways it worked, in others it didn't. Whether we run another one remains to be seen, but we will always have a 20% off deal running on our Angie's List page.
