Interior Painting
From the estimate to the finished job, Gikas Painting could not have been more professional and attentive. There is good reason George Mihalis (owner) has been so successful and well thought of for many years. Gikas Painting was recommended to be by a co-worker and I could not be more pleased. They painted EVERY room in my house. They always arrived on time, cleaned up after themselves, and the job turned out great. They replaced several lighting fixtures too. Unfortunately, one of my new living room high hats pulled slightly away from the ceiling after roofing work was done. My ceilings are quiet high, but George himself returned (2 weeks after my painting job was completed) with his very tall ladder to push it back into place. And... He didn't charge me a penny more. Customer service to Gikas is as important as the quality of their work. If you can book them for your next job, DON'T wait. I will definitely be using them for all of my home improvement needs.

My husband and I purchased our home in Montclair in 2017. It was a fixer upper nightmare. With this being said, we went through 4 contractors before contacting Gikas Painting & Contracting. After going through so many contractors, it became very hard to trust anyone to complete the job. We had things to complete such as painting, front porch and back deck. George came through, gave us a reasonable price and was able to complete the project. He was very efficient, reliable, professional and kind. Like all general contractors, they subcontract the work out however he would always make sure the workers was there doing what they were suppose to do. The project was completed in a timely manner and we are very satisfied with the paint job and love the way the front porch and back deck turned out. We would recommend him to anyone.

Each room turned out excellent. The walls which had lots of old peeling paint and some cracks turned out amazing. We had several holes in the wall from electric work and adding lights. You would never know the walls were in such poor condition. The colors and paint job turned out great. The rooms look brand new. The job was professionally done and loved the results. We would hire them again.

I never received a response from Gikas. It seems to me it would be relatively easy for a "professional" to send me a message saying "I'm not interested in this job" rather than ignore me. If there was a reason they didn't reply, they should have told me rather than just ignore me. How many people enjoy being ignored?

George came out quickly to examine the job, gave me a price quote right away, responded to questions by text promptly and work began as soon as weather permitted. It was completely as promised and the quality of painting was excellent. Even touched a couple additional spots found adjacent to job graciously and gratuitously. Very happy to have done this, to have contacted Ginkas and have gotten it done so effortlessly. Very atypical these days.

MR. GIKAS, Met with me to give me an estimate on painting the Tudor Trim on my Tudor Home. We walked around the home and went over the areas that were the most in need of attention due to sun exposure and age. I explained that I wanted to achieve a paint job and had a budget, if needed replacement of old trim in lieu of time spent sanding, sealing et al. He said that the only way to property paint my home would require 6 weeks labor, extensive sanding to the Bones. His quote was astronomical after meeting with 4 additional painters.

I was finally ready to pretty up the exterior of my little 1910 dutch colonial. The only company I wanted to do this was Gikas. Having seen their work around local neighborhoods for the past 15 years, there was no other choice for me. Alex did not disappoint - he gave a very fair quote and suggested some very inexpensive additional carpentry (to visually balance my front porch), recommended restoring my original front door (which I would have thought was impossible), was very knowledgeable on old houses, and was able to give me a start and end date that they actually met. The team arrived early every morning and were still working away when I got home from work, Diego and team were pleasant and professional and cleaned up at the end of every day. The job involved included removing aluminum siding and restoring the shingles and clapboard. The carpenter was a master of the craft. My house looks spectacular. I could not be more pleased. Price, quality, responsiveness, punctuality and professionalism 5 stars across the board.

The entire Gikas team-from the color coordinator, painters, carpenters, and foreman made a what could have been a stressful renovation a very smooth job. I couldn't be happier!

Gikas was the first out of 4 estimates I received for painting our Cape style home. We got a swifty response- best price and worked with us on the details of the estimate which included carpentry and masonry work. The paint consultation was a plus. It was a great help for choosing colors. The consultant came by, helped us pick out colors and painted some swatches on the house in different locations so we could see the paint in the sun and the shade. She brought up many points about colors that we would not have thought of on our own. The job started promptly on the agreed upon date. The workers were friendly, professional, showed up on time and cleaned up every day. The end result was a fantastically painted new home! We are very pleased with the quality of the work done. One piece of advice- be sure the job is to your liking before the crew is finished and you do your last walk through- having them come back to make any adjustments took quite a while.

From the first call to the end of the project the customer focus was excellent. The day I called for an estimate Hernane called and scheduled an appointment for an estimate. I explained I only had a certain week open and he went out of his way to accommodate me. Hermane arrived with Julio and Jonny who would do the painting. Julie and Jonny did and excellent job they corrected things I didn't expect (walls and woodwork). They were very careful and respectful of my home. During the time they were here Hermane came back a number of times during the day to check on the progress and make sure I was happy with the work being done. This company is very customer focused and the end result was all I envisioned and more.

They did a fantastic job repainting our home. Although we had been given paint samples to try, I was still a bit nervous about how the color would look as we opted to go with a slate blue with white trim. Our house was previously a muted light green so it was a drastic change. Hernane was the project supervisor. He was detailed and responsive: making sure to consistently follow up if there were any changes or updates, and answered all my questions. This boosted my confidence in their ability to do the job beautifully and they did not disappoint! I love our house and I highly recommend these guys.

"Dear mr.dissapointed; I think you are polluting Angies List with this kind of review Actually Angie's List should ban these kind of reviews that confuses the rest of the members as they don't reflect the real values of vendors you are considering for your project I can see you rated F for the price and l am not gonna argue with that ... but help me understand how did you come up with C for quality as you didn't hire us We had scheduled for last Saturday in the morning I had told you that morning that l will call before l arrive And l did call Why should you fail me in profesionalism ? As you mentioned in your review this was a project in a higher than normal heights and keeping safety in mind it takes time to get the project done Even if l made a mistake calculating the time it should take to get the job done right ...Why should l get a D overall?? It's not fair !!! I am sure you should have plenty of other USEFUL things to do in your life rather than taking your time and write this review How would you feel if you work hard to run your business and someone goes online and throw unnecessary dirt on you?"
