They were professional, responsible and on time every day.

Frank's crew showed up on time every day - that is like a miracle in the construction/painting world. They were very neat and cleaned up at the end of every day. They responded well to concerns. We were very impressed with this company and would definitely use them again.

I contacted Certapro to paint the inside and outside of my house for around $10,000. The paint on the outside was cracking before the end of the year. I called Frank Mai. He showed up, inspected the paint and saw that it was indeed cracking. But he only spot painted the area. Less than a year later, the paint was cracking again! This time, he repainted the whole house again the crew he hired was absolutely horrible! They left paint spatters all over my outside banisters. They left wet paint on my lawn. They broke my garden hose holder and stole the garden hose attachment. They left paint chips chips everywhere. And to top it off, they went into my garden shed without permission and left a drop cloth absolutely filled with chipped paint. This was the most horrible experience I have ever had with any contractor. I would absolutely caution you to stay far away from this company.

Wonderful! Frank, the owner of the franchise, was extremely courteous, quick, friendly, courteous and very knowledgeable. He was willing to give suggestions and match colors. He made it very, very easy to say yes to his proposal. Junior, one of his employees came to work, and Frank came twice to check on him and made sure the work was done correctly. Junior stayed in his car since he came early but knocked on my door exactly on time, he was very courteous, polite and did a very good job. Frank even matched a paint color for us, and went immediately to pick up the color for us!

Fantastic job and they will be returning to do more rooms. Very neat workers and very respectful of my home. When Frank the owner came over to give the initial estimate he was very professional and we felt this was the right company for the job. Pricing was fair and they really transformed a room that was boring to looking like an HGTV makeover.

We hired Certapro last year for interior painting and because we were pleased, we rehired them this year to paint the outside. Frank, the owner gave us a very detailed estimate. It was the middle of 3 estimated we received. The workers arrived on time each day and did an excellent job. They left everything tidy when they were done. This company SUBCONTRACTS out to lesser companies. See websites i missed all about certapropainterscompaints, google Certapro stinks etc on google. I was told by Frank the owner I was "hiring Cerapro" and would receive, "Three of Cerapro's best painters" vetted by the owner. They placed a Cerapro sign on my lawn. So I believed him. Instead I received Wilson Painters & a rag tag group of strange men, new ones every day, who wandered around my home -not introduced (scary when you're alone in the house with a child) ALL with little or no painting experience. I own/manage commercial real estate and this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had in 20 years, Professionally and personally. Additionally, they STOLE over $3000k plus in items from my home. From day one, Wilson refused to speak to me for reasons unknown- I was very welcoming and polite but he was surly and unresponsive. Questions/concerns had to wait till the evening when Frank, the owner would show up. Frank WAS embarrassed by Wilson's attitude. They only painted ONE COAT in majority of rooms. They skipped a very large closet. It's 9 months later and paint is peeling off the walls and moulding. It's bubbled and peeled. I'll provide pictures if you contact me. They were supposed to perform light plastering-they only performed approximately 20% of what was promised and what they did is a drippy mess or not smoothed- They didn't bother to smooth plaster and painted right over. The majority of the windows weren't painted or received a few strokes of paint-it's bizarre. The wall in my son's room looks like a 4 yr old dripped plaster all over it. For reasons unknown, they CAULKED the corner of walls-where wall meets wall. Esp obvious in my living room. Why would anyone caulk a wall? The living room-the most beautiful room of the home-has caulk in all the corners and the French doors (which I was charged extra for-because of the detailing) are RUINED. They painted one coat but very very heavy-the beautiful details are now flawed, can not be sanded or fixed and an eye sore. I was so crushed. Instead of using a brush in the corner of walls-they, "slid" down the roller- we figured they were too lazy to clean a brush. It looks terrible. You eye catches these things. There a spots all over the place they missed-a second coat might have covered. Paint is all over the windows of the doors and on every single window in the house. I'm 54 and my father taught me to paint-I have a lot of experience-I know what is reasonable to expect. Some paint drops are reasonable to expect but this is ridiculous! This was a $10,000 job-I was promised it would be top notch-owner obviously pd sub-contracters 1/4 or 1/3 so they were only concerned with haste not professionalism. There was paint all over the floors-I just paid to re-finish some of the rooms-that was over $2500 right there and I had to vacate my home for days for that too! NO painters tape was used so there are NO straight lines-it's all wavy and again childlike /no painters lights were used when they painted in the evening/at dusk and they wouldn't use TARPS! I had to write the owner-PLEASE have them use TARPS! I was told that it would take two days/three days or longer to paint bedrooms, plaster and paint a bathroom and wouldn't be able to use these rooms. We rented a hotel room (nearest hotel $250.00 a night- iso $500 It's outside NYC) Both the rooms & plastering took Two and a half hours-seriously. Because they only do one coat. We packed up all the things necessary for kids and activities and left and it was NEVER necessary. Out another $500. Most importantly, it's a big mess-The owner flat out lied-he was obligated to tell me that he sub-contracted and he failed to do so-he didn't properly supervise the men he DID hire-showing up only at night, thinking that was sufficient. I can't tell you how frustrating it was not to be able to communicate with the painter-he was just rude and arrogant and even Frank the owner was continually embarrassed by his behavior. PLEASE CALL ME BEFORE YOU USE THIS COMPANY. I didn't pay the full amount-the owner offered to come back for only two days and re-paint and I had to promise to pay the full amount. He first refused to walk through and discuss damage first-It was approx 15 minutes of his time and he refused. I was afraid they'd do MORE damage-especially with only two days in which to work. I was told Wilson was, "my best painter" can you imagine what I might have gotten the second go around? It may look like I got off paying less but there's so much to fix and it's a huge problem to find people who'll fix other people's work-they charge hourly-it's a mess and who wants that!! Plus out the $500 and $3000k in personal stolen items-they wandered into my closets and drawers. Please contact me before using this company-They have good reviews on YELP but I've talked to people who've had horrible experiences and the majority of people don't write bad reviews mostly good I've noticed-Not TWO weeks had gone without finding more peeling paint or a mistake I missed. -I still need to go the Police-I've been too upset to handle it as I know I'll never receive my items (that I loved) or renumeration. Frank, Sheila, and the entire team were extremely helpful and accommodating throughout the entire process. The paint job itself was excellent and completed with the utmost attention to detail in a timely fashion. Would recommend 10/10 and already have to a few friends who need work done. Thanks again!

They did an ok job of painting. They quoted it would be a 3 day job, ended up being 2 weeks and that's just the beginning. 1st they started painting the the living room and kitchen the wrong color, then because I didn't catch the paint name error when they emailed me the contract I had to pay an additional $500 for their error. 2nd I had to continually point out areas that needed to be repainted. 3rd the painters left the house in a mess each day with pain all in my sink. 4th when they finally finished they left my 60 inch tv on the couch for my spouse to put back alone due to me being away on a business trip, that and all other furniture. And the final thing that was horrific, my deceased grandmother's engagement ring that I had in my side bedside table was stolen. When I called the rep David, he basically said "you can file a police report and have it investigated, but we've never been found liable in the past" meaning this has happened before and we haven't been found at fault! They were the worst!!

We first contacted CertaPro in November 2015 for an estimate
to paint our family room/kitchen/powder room. We dealt with David Sang who came
over to look at our project. David was very personable and thorough. He took
pictures and gave us a packet of information, which included a checklist of
questions to ask if we were getting additional estimates. We were not in a rush
to get this project done.
Amongst three prices, CertaPro was in the middle. After
negotiating with David, CertaPro was willing to do other prepwork, such as
removing bathroom accessories that we wanted to replace, that was included in
the other prices. We were told the project would take three days.
 On the scheduled start date, the owner, Frank, came to our
house promptly as scheduled at 7:30 am to go over the project one more time. He
estimated this as a two or three day project. (In the end, they finished in two
days.) We went to work, leaving the painters alone in the house.
After the job was done, my wife and I went over the project
with a fine-toothed comb. As with most jobs, there were a few minor issues that
needed to be fixed. After calling Frank, he returned two days later with the
crew to make all the fixes.
 Overall, a very good experience.

Frank is very friendly, professional, patient and very helpful with picking out colors - particularly if household members don't quite agree!  He spent over 3 hours with us one evening to pick out all the colors.  He helped guide us because we asked him to do so.  The team of painters, particularly Christian & his dad were excellent and very careful.  The house was empty so in some ways it was easier, but they were careful to protect the floors, fixtures and anything that shouldn't get painted.  They prepared the walls by filling in any dents or imperfections and were fine with us pointing out anything that looked like it needed smoothing or filling.  After the job was done, we did a walk around and only a small area upstairs had to be retouched.  They came back to do that without a problem.  A couple of months later we had a leak in the roof which created a stain in our bedroom ceiling and Frank came by himself to touch it up for us at no additional charge.
I would definitely work with Frank again (Certapro Painters of Clifton) and very likely will when we need to paint the exterior of our house.  I wouldn't say it's 'inexpensive' but you do get what you pay for - a quality team & service and a really nice, honest man to work with.  And I would insist on using the same team of painters - they are very careful and friendly as well.

Wonderfully.  They worked efficiently and professionaly from the initial contact to completion of the job.  Due to the last minute delay of my hardwood floor installation by another vendor, they patiently went out of their way to accomodate my request to reschedule twice.  They arrived on time and worked diligently. They pleasantly accepted all of my additional requests big and small including an unfinished job by another vendor.   The crew of three worked together smoothly.  It's obvious that they have worked togetehr many times before.  I would hire them again and recommend them to my family and friends.  
Renovation is stressful, but they have made it easy.  Thank you.

They contacted me right away via email and followed with a phone to set up an appointment. A gentleman named David came out at the scheduled time and met with us. He took photos and measurements. Then a few days later we got the written estimate which was reasonable. David followed up with a few phone calls before we made our decision. We went with another company for the job due to some additional carpentry we found we needed. Even though we did not use them for our job, I would recommend getting an estimate from them.
