In hind sight, we should have contracted her for 5 Days 10 hours a day, 3 Days was really not enough time. We ran out of time because there was so much to review. But Allyson made the best of it. She had individual team meetings with each owner and staff member. She reviewed all their financials. Then had meetings with the CEO to present her findings and solutions suggestions. She reviewed all of our inventory, sales and bookkeeping software. There were holes in what they could provide so she found something that would assist the office processes and fulfillment better. They decided to contract her for her services for 6 months to help create policies, procedures, roll out software installation, train existing staff and provide daily bookkeeping needs with the assistance of our staff.
Whenever you are working remotely with people there is a communication style learning curve because you have to get used to each person's writing and communication style. There was also some growing pains from an in house staff perspective because the staff is all related to one another. Bringing Allyson in as an outsider met with difficulty. It all seemed a little intense in the beginning. But we've just pulled through a huge hurdle with that. I think ahead of time we should have sat with the staff and let them know that we were going to have to support this process and realize that the changes were not personal to anyone. They were all for the purpose of organizing and growing the business.
Allyson is very professional, she communicates clearly, has many resources to get answers to questions if she herself does not yet know them, willing to work with the needs of the environment and the people, patient and cares for her clients. She is currently working diligently to train some of our staff on their new job descriptions and software. We found that she is trying to be encouraging and positive but communicate honestly as well.
We appreciated that she came in with no expectations of closing a long term contract with us. She was prepared to work the 3 days and be finished with the project. She presented her findings and made a proposal for services she or another business could provide. We didn't feel pressured.
We've already met some of our organizing goals and look forward to accomplishing the rest of the 6 month plan in it's entirety.
