"Im sorrry we couldnt help you with your jobs. The amount of work at your place was way too much for us.The scheduling of the appointment didnt work out very well either.I usually give someone a time and they are there for the appointment and no confusion occurs. The entire situation from the scheduling of the appointment right up to the meeting with you just didnt work out for us.Sorry we couldnt help you.Thank you for contacting us thru Angieslist. Good luck"
Gina called me back a day or so after I left a message, and we scheduled the estimate appointment. Eric and Gina arrived on time, quickly evaluated the work, and provided a fair estimate and a work date. Eric doesn't waste time on the projects; he's ready with all the tools and materials when he arrives, so the job is done promptly and professionally. When the first work was done, Eric pointed out some additional work that needed to be done (which I had known about but hadn't included in the list), and we scheduled that for the next week. I'll definitely call them again when more work is needed.
After being ripped off by House Doctor and Opari Construction in the past year, working with people who do the job they say they're going to do, show up on time and return phone calls promptly and politely is a blessing and a joy to work with.
I normally hate having to get any work done around my house because contractors don't call back, don't show up or try to sell me something I just don't need or want. Not Gina and Eric -I am very happy and will DEFINITLY be using them again.
"Thank you [member name removed]for the great, and honest review. We usually try to pay close attention to detail but over the years its easy to get complacent. Most times customers tend to offer to clean after us as they just want the job expedited. It is a privilege to us when someone comes behind to tidy up,but not expected.Thank you for reminding us to check and always look back."
They came on time and were very nice and took care of what we needed.
Our house is old and neither I nor my husband can do the repairs , so I was very grateful to find helpful ,honest people and will be calling them for all we need done in the future.
I so appreciated that while on the roof Eric noticed that a Holly tree was growing into the roof and wrecking it and advised me to get a
tree person to come trim it down before there was worse damage.
"Thank you for the great review (deleted member name). However i think you are mistaken about the fence I don't believe we ever gave you a fencing estimate. We estimated the siding your husband burned with the grill but thats the only open invoice i still have. We did the windows, flooring, and laundryroom sink.I was confused because you said the hurricane damaged the fence; yet we have not seen you since your gutter repair , before the hurricane. So I think you have us confused with someone else on the fence est. Call me if im mistaken and thanks again."
"As we strive to return every phone call and have been highly graded in that area,We do come home to many phone calls per day.Sometimes (not often)one may get missed. I'm sorry Eric's Handyman Service missed your call."
The first issue was partially my fault since I purchased the wrong bi-fold door. But work already began on installing before Eric realized that the door was not the correct length. A quick pre-install check would of helped avoid this.
The second issue was the bigger problem for us. We purchased a ceiling fan for our living room which required some electrical work since the controls were different from the old fan. Eric installed the fan but the lights did not work. I was told to replace the bulbs. I did and it still didn't work. Eric reluctantly came out to inspect the problem and told me the control was faulty and I should return it since the lights worked when he directly connected the wires in the wall socket. After consulting with a real electrician I was told the controls were fine. The socket controlled more then just the ceiling fan. In hindsight I should of left the electrical work to a certified pro and not ask a handy man to do the work.
The last issue was the faucet which is now leaking again.
On top of all this they brought along a young man who did not respect our home. He cut himself and got blood on our entrance walls.
I was reluctant to post this review since Eric and his wife were very nice but I would hate for someone else to come across these same problems.
I'd recommend Eric's Handyman service for painting but not any of the other tasks.
**UPDATE**
Did not realize there was a response. As I mentioned before I was reluctant to post this review because Eric and is wife were very nice to us especially since I got the bifold doors wrong. I did not force them to stay while I went for a new door. They chose to do so and we appreciated the gesture.
The light switch they bought (without our consent) was not what we wanted. As I mentioned the switch controlled more then the ceiling fan. The switch they wanted to install ignored the hallway light so we could not except it. If I had asked them to purchase the switch then I could understand why I would have to reimburse them. I NEVER asked for anything for free.
I'll take the blame since I should have called an electrician for electrical work and a plumber for leaks (lesson learned). I still stick by the good work done with painting our walls.
"The first couple things you said were accurate. We did do a good job painting ,and the other did not go smoothly due to your fault. As we strive to be on time and do our best for customers it is difficult sometimes. You insisted on getting your own doors. We assumed YOU knew what you were doing. The first appointment we had which we were on time for as always, you had the wrong size, rescheduled for you, came back,on time to find you hadn't even the decency to be there for us.We had to sit and wait with your wife and kids while you ran to homedepot. Our time is very valuable and belongs to the next client. When you came back that is when you told us you had a problem with the light. The first common sense answer is always to replace the bulbs first. We did that for you.It still didnt work,we offered to come back again(as we always guarantee our work). This time we brought a new switch for you but you didnt want us to install it because you didn't want to pay for it and Eric only asked to be reimbursed the $30 we just spent on it for your light.YOU said you would go get your own switch and put it in.Eric even went as far as to take it out of package and connect it momentarilly to show you that it WAS indeed a new switch that was needed and you still asked him to remove the switch because you wanted it for free and I think thats the real reason you were irritated. We made several trips out for you to try and please you.As far as the helper that got a booboo at your house,he is no longer with our company."
"A wise man once told me:people lie,and don't believe everything you hear.Lets do the math.Did you really think I could deck your attic floor & box in around stairs, and ends for $262 ?The materials alone would have cost me more than that at Home Depot. My prices are fair.I have been serving burl & camden counties for over 24 years and have always been told I'm in the middle. There's always one guy that comes in higher and one lower,in the estimates.I belive the $1500 estimate you were given was fair and accurate for a job well done by professional and curteous people, not to mention the best reliability in the business, including all materials and labor. And what about the other rating options:Quality, responsiveness, punctuality, professionalism.I returned your call the same day.I scheduled your estimate for the very next day. I was on time.I came in a business shirt w/my company logo. You were given a written estimate on the spot ,on company letterhead with my address, phone number and state registration number.Perhaps there's more to this than meets the eye, maybe thats why you wouldn't return my call to discuss this further.Good luck with whomever you hired and remember , you get what you pay for. Thank you"
Estimate for the work was provided in a timely manner. We agreed upon a start date and the work was performed as scheduled. All work was very well done. I plan to use Eric again in the near future.
