They were building a shed for me. Told me it would take 14 days. It's been 17 months and it's not done. Texts that he is coming and then doesn't. Always lies about what he is doing and when it will be finished.

They started right after labor day. They promised all the materials, and I did not give them yet. They asked for 2/3 of payment upfront. The work has not been done yet. I am waiting for them.
Description of Work: Door replaced and the frames around the doors.

The bedroom wall was built well. The parquet floor tiles that were installed to replace damaged ones did not match up the the pattern and had to be corrected. The wall sconces were installed well too. However this contractor does all his electrical, plumbing and tile work. There is a reason why one person cannot wear many hats. He is absolutely terrible at tiling. The glass tile in the bathroom have jagged edges and the grout lines are uneven, many had to be replaced and they still don't match up to this day. He did not use spacers in the floor tiles and had to rip them up and do them over because the grout lines were so extremely uneven. My building had a major problem with his plumbing for the shower. The pipes were switch for the hot and cold and the lever was installed incorrectly. They had to break through the wall behind the shower to correct the piping. This is when he finally brought in a real plumber as required by the building management. There are now cracks running down the bathroom wall tiles that Mahesh refuses to come back and fix. These formed 4 weeks after the project was completed. This is because I deducted the cost of the toilet and plumber from the final bill because he chipped the toilet and covered it up with silicone, hoping I would not notice. He also spilled acetone on the bathroom vanity which bleached and damaged the vanity. He wanted to try to stain it himself but I insisted he purchase a replacement so the warranty would not be void. Please save yourself a lot of headache, money and heart ache and use someone else.
Description of Work: Original estimate was for building a wall to enclose a bedroom space, installing 4 wall sconces, and renovation on 1.5 bathrooms.

Response from Let's Do It Right Renovations LLC
I have been in business since 2008 and I been doing this type of work for over 11 years but have never had a customer like this. She complained of things that you need a microscope to see but as a paying customer she had the right to do so. I fixed everything she did not like, up until the last day I finished the job and she approved of everything. She did not render payment in full as was stated on her contract. She claimed I damaged the toilet and then stated she will hire someone to replace it. I took what she gives me and walked away because I wanted nothing else to do with this project or customer (this was after the fact of completing what I was hired for). On May 13th, 2011, this customer emailed me referring to four tiles that were cracking, asking for my advice. I replied on May19th, 2011 telling her it could be stress caused from movement or vibration (she had remodeled her kitchen which is one room away – which involved demolition and installation of new cabinets and appliances). She replied that very day and said, regardless of the reasons, she anticipates our prompt response in rectifying this particular problem. I again, replied that very day, "At this moment there is no warranty from us to render service in your residence, since you hired others to fix our job we had done in your apartment. In addition, the balance for your job was never paid in full, which was a forfeit in our contract. You claimed the reasons for this action was because you had purchased materials that according to you, Mahesh had damaged! I was never given any proof of these purchases although I had asked for receipts! We simply accepted what you paid to us and walked away, as to avoid further confrontations and to leave this matter in a good business sense. We were no longer comfortable doing business with you because we were not being treated with respect. We did the right thing by being honest but you took an enormous advantage of that. Please seek advice elsewhere as there are no more obligations between you and “Let's Do It Right Renovations, LLC! " On May 24th, 2011, she replied stating she DID NOT hire someone else to fix the toilet (which she had held back money for from our agreed payment) and that she had a tiling individual to look at my work who said the grout was not even! This is not TRUE just like when she said she will hire a plumber to replace the toilet and she never did. I have been doing tile work for as long as I am in this business and never had tile-cracking issues before because I know what I am doing! As per another tiling individual who she sought advise from during the project stated, the tile-cracking WAS NOT because of my work.... it’s because of the wall settling. Again, I mentioned to her since she hired others to fix my job she claimed I damaged, this voids all warranty! To move on, On May 24th she responded basically stating she DID NOT hire someone to fix the toilet as she had previously claimed, not forgetting this was the job she had held back money for from our agreed payment. And she wants us to fix the cracked tiles or she will contact your lawyer and our insurance company. My wife who helps out with the business and is very well aware of the member, and the project, replied and said, "I do not care if you didn't hire someone to fix the toilet and the fact is you did not pay us the full amount that was owe on the project!!!! EVERYDAY you claimed something was going wrong!!!! I personally went on that job site several times per week and saw all the sticky notes you stuck everywhere! We are human, not machines! Mahesh did seal the grout work around the tiles so our job was completed when we left your apartment. I asked for receipts for all the cost you were deducting from the balance you owed to us but NEVER got one for the cost of the toilet or an invoice from the plumber to fix it! You did not want Mahesh back in your apartment so you said you would buy a new toilet and have a plumber fix! Now you are telling me that you withheld money from us and never did that! You go right ahead and call your lawyer as I am doing the same! As for our insurance company, I will let them be aware of you and this situation! We were out of the job without receiving payment in full. Whatever happened with the tiles, happened when we were finished with the job! I sent you an invoice of what you had to pay us but you came up with many costs for errors that you said Mahesh did and you paid what you wanted to pay us! This is not how you do business with someone! But we walked away because we preferred not to have anything else to do with you. From the very beginning of the job you complained of how it's so expensive so at the end you found a way to pay less! Now you want more from us! There is no way that is going to happen! Call your lawyer! I also kept all the emails, paper work documents and even pictures I took of all the sticky notes that you had stuck all over your bathroom everyday we went to work! Mahesh owed up to the damages he caused and paid for those things so don't tell me about owning up! You need to learn the meaning of that phrase!" We did not hear back from the member until this negative report on Angie's List. She knew this was the only thing she could have done because we did nothing wrong. I am the owner of Let's Do It Right Renovations and I am very knowledgeable and skilled at what I do. I believe because we are a small company, the member tried to use this to her advantage and thought she could have gotten away with it not realizing that my company does not tolerate such nonsense.
