"Unfortunately, regardless how hard we work, there are some customers that will never be satisfied until they are told what they want to hear. Being in the customer service industry for as many years as we have, we also encounter situations such as these where the customer will go as far as to alter the actual events as a negotiating tool, holding the Angie’s List review as hostage unless we consent or provide additional services for free. One of the most valuable tools on Angie’s List, is that we the contractor, are able to reply and often times, set the record straight. In this case, the customer stated that we “pushed for the install at her home” and we “did not require anyone to be home during the installation of the fence”. This is untrue, as ALL homeowners are required to be at the property when their fences are being installed. This customer in particular, was unable to be present due to her heavy workload, (which is also the reason why it took a few attempts to connect with her). As an alternative, she opted to leave her brother in charge of the installation in her absence in a May 12th email. Prior to going to the property, her brother was called and it was confirmed that he would be present during the entire fence installation. Our office stayed in constant communication with her brother throughout the day. When we encountered a small problem during the installation, we made every effort to contact the customer directly to advise her of the situation and her options, yet when we were unable to reach her, her brother advised and approved the remedy. This customer, at first denied our attempts to contact her and it is only now that she agreeing that we made several attempts to contact her once she was provided with our records. In the end, her brother was ecstatic with the remedy, stating that, “my sister will be so happy that the dogs can not escape, thank you”. Unfortunately, if the customer is unaware of what is subterranean, we are unable to know what is under the ground until we start digging. When we encounter a foundation to a structure, we are unable to “break” that foundation, therefore on occasion there will be a small gap. So, yes, as courtesy, we took some of the new fence that this client just purchased and retrofitted the gap so not to incur her any additional costs. This, as you can see by her review, was unacceptable to her despite her brother having approved it, as she demanded we “do something, at no additional cost or else she would be leaving a negative review”. At no time did we say that it was a “temporary fix”, just that we would put it there so that the dogs would not be able to get out of the yard. Following all of the above, we still continued to make every effort to contact her with hopes that we could some how rectify it. She stopped responding. We value all of our customers, especially Angie’s List members. We strive to satisfy each and every one and on occasion are met with situations like this. Nothing that we could have said would have changed her mind. Now, when first we received nothing but praise and accolades from her, she decided to alter her experience and now claim that we are unprofessional and that she did not receive a quality installation because we could not send a crew back at no additional expense. As always, we wish all of our customers good luck and will rely on the majority of the accurate reviews below. Thank you and we look forward to continue working with all Angie’s List members. Emilio"
If you are looking to put in fencing around your property, this is one great company to work with.
The supplies were delivered to our yard wrapped and protected.
Emilio's team arrived and did the job in once day, making sure all was level and perfectly straight. They cleaned up nicely.
Emilio communicated well and his team did a great job!
The total job consisted of a privacy fence in part of our rear yard, along side our house, as well as a gate.
Well done-we are VERY happy with our new fence!!
fencing options available. From my first call with Emilio I was very comfortable with him as he was very knowledgeable and we remained in contact throughout the entire process (via text, phone, and email). Most importantly, the pricing at Forever Fence was reasonable and Emilio stayed within my budget. Within one week of our initial meeting my fencing was installed. The staff at Forever Fence was professional and friendly and the fence looks beautiful. I would definitely recommend Forever Fence!
Emilio was very good to work with.
Work was scheduled and completed in a timely and professional manner.
- Outstanding job. The workers arrived on time, explained what needed to be done, and the work was completed in a timely matter.

A week later and still no estimate-called left another message (no one is ever in the office). I called once a week for three weeks and left a polite message each time. We never received a response. After the fourth call I realized it was time to move on. I should have quit weeks earlier but I saw their high rating here and wanted to believe they would follow up.
Although this job was probably about $2500.00 we were planning on a much larger project in the summer as well as several jobs at other commercial properties we own. Foolish mistake on their part. After the fact, I had the opportunity to speak with several other people who had experience with the company and was advised it's well known they're gong downhill and we were lucky it didn't work out.
"We apologize for the mix up. A proposal was sent out to you via e-mail and our office left several messages returning your call. since the project was so small, the in home consultation was very brief and only took 15 minutes or so. During that consultation, I was able to point out several key contributing factors as to why your gate was failing as well as some installation flaws. Your representation of our meeting unfortunately just isn't accurate. While we are very sorry that we were unable to service you, we are very proud of all of our satisfied customers on Angie's List. As you can see, we are one of the top rated Fence companies on here and we hope to continue our association with Angie's List for many years to come. We wish you the best of luck and again we apologize for being unable to connect with you. Emilio Forever Fence 973.835.3333 A Veteran Owned Company"
One thing: they asked for payment in full when they arrived to perform the installation (we have already paid a deposit weeks earlier). We did not give them the rest of the payment until the fence was completely installed.
We are very happy with our new fence and the way it was installed. Forever Fence did a great job and we would certainly use them again for similar work.
UPDATE: Addendum to previous post: I left a VM for Emilio of Forever Fence on 12/3/13 that two of the post caps had blown off during a recent storm and that I had since noticed that the post caps were not fastened at all. I asked for a repair to be made. I did not receive a return call, so I telephoned again on 12/6/13 and spoke to Emilio. Emilio verbalized that the repair of improperly fastened post caps was not a warrantied item and them he could not send a crew to fasten them free of charge. I expressed shock that the fastening of caps to the posts was not covered under warranty and that I certainly expected for $3800, the caps would have been securely fastened at the time of the installation. Emilio stated that he has several crews and it is at the discretion of each crew as to how the caps should be fastened. I stated that I expected that as the manager/owner of Forever Fence, he was responsible for his work crews. Emilio stated that 'if I was patient, and if he had a crew in my area sometime', then a crew could evaluate the situation at that time. I stated that for the cost of the fence, I expected the faulty installation to be remedied and I shouldn't have to wait for a crew to be in my area. Emilio stated that that 'did not make economic sense'. Emilio also asked 'didn't I know that you catch more bees with honey?' and that if I had a 'nicer tone of voice' I could expect more customer satisfaction. I replied that I expected him to provide customer satisfaction for an installation that was only 2 months old and cost $3800. I also explained that none of the post caps had any evidence of nail or staple holes, or any traces of adhesive. Emilio then replied 'so, now you're a fence expert?'. Emilio also stated that he 'had an email from me at the time of installation stating how happy I was with the fence' and he didn't think that post caps blowing off was a reason for a dissatisfaction. He stated that 'he could see 'if the fence blew over or something like that', then he could understand that a customer would be dissatisfied. I explained that it never occurred to me to check that the caps were actually fastened to the posts prior to providing feedback on Angie's List s and that the customer is the arbiter of customer satisfaction, not the company owner. Under no circumstance would I recommend Forever Fence.
"The good and bad thing about Angie’s List is that we as the vendor cannot modify, change, edit or delete a customer’s comment no matter how untrue or inaccurate they are. I’d like to point out at the job completion, we received such positive feedback and A’s across the board from this particular customer. They left a rave review including, “We are very happy with our new fence and the way it was installed. Forever Fence did a great job and we would certainly use them again for similar work”. Fast forward to December when the customer contacted our office and now stated that the entire fence was not installed properly because, “two post caps blew off during a storm”. She stated that if her demands were not met that she would change her review on Angie’s List. Unfortunately, since this her claims were unsubstantiated and not under warranty, we could not meet her demands. We did however offer to send a team by to review and perhaps re-install the post caps the next time there was one in her area. Unfortunately, this was unacceptable to her and rather than accept our offer, she preferred to leave her new review. Everyone at Forever Fence takes great pride in their work and we strive every day for 100% customer satisfaction. We regret that this customer chose the path that she did over patiently waiting for us to be able to place 2 post caps atop a post, a simple task….. but this is both the good thing and bad thing about Angie’s List. As we do with all of our customer’s we wish her luck and we will let the rest of our reviews speak for the quality of service that we provide."
"Thank You (removed member name)! We are so happy that after all of the bad luck that you had with other fence companies, that we were able to turn it around and leave you with a positive experience. Enjoy your new yard! Regards, Emilio Forever Fence 973.835.3333 A Veteran Owned Company"
The crew was super efficient, professional and just plain got the job done right. They cleaned up and did not leave one scrap of material.. even swept the street where some cement was mixed. You could not tell workers were in our yard. AMAZING!!
I have been in the service industry for 39 years and I can say this is the best service company I have dealt with in a long time.
And get this.. Emilio READS AND RESPONDS to your text messages... Ama

"We are truly humbled by your kind words. We at Forever Fence try to make each day better than the one before, feedback like yours makes our job easy to wake up for and inspires us to continue to treat people with honesty and integrity, but most of all, the way that we would like to be treated. We can not thank you enough. Regards, Emilio Forever Fence 973.835.3333 [email protected] A Veteran Owned Company"
He was very good with offering options that maximized what we could do within our budget (it's a homeowner's association). He also helped me determine what preparation was needed to get the site ready for the new fence. We had a lot to do including removing the old fence, digging out 6 large shrubs, removing debris, and leveling the site.
He advised that it would be best to use our landscaper to do that work; since Forever Fence was scheduling 6-8 weeks out, that gave me time to put the site prep out for bids and get the work done.
We finally got to the scheduled installation date and first their supplier messed them up, then weather got in the way. Although they were a little spotty about returning calls & emails earlier, they were very good during this time in communicating what was happening.
On the new, rescheduled installation date, they arrived on time and got right to work. There was a small kink in our planned layout because of a large tree next to the property line, but Abraham, the foreman, devised a good work-around that allowed them to complete the work pretty much as planned. The end result is great and completely transformed that area of our complex.
They also repaired the damaged chain-link fence and it looks as good as new.
