Ryan & Son Chimneys

Scheduling was quick and easy. Provider showed up on time and spent time reviewing the video inspection results and answered some of my other questions. He was very polite and seemed honest with his recommendations. Also received a thorough written report. Price wasn't the cheapest but I'd use them again.

The owner came to give me an estimate earlier this year and walked me through everything - quickly and thoroughly. Once the snow and ice melted Jen said they'd schedule an appointment. Thankfully she called yesterday and fit me in today. Daniel, Chris, and Cooper (sorry if I got the names wrong!) came to my house earlier than the appointment (no complaints here!). To me they did an excellent job and answered any questions I had. One of the questions was "would I use them in the future" - perhaps in a future home! But I don't think I'll need them again in this home thanks to their thorough work. A+

They did an excellent job and it turned out that they did not need as much material as they estimated so they gave us a bill credit. They were punctual, professional, and very clean as well. Highly recommended

All of my dealings with the company were very positive, from the first phone to confimations and actually performing the service. The staff is professional and knowledgeable. My fireplace hasn't been services in over 10 years and it looks like new.

This was an awesome company to deal with. The employees were very knowledgeable and helpful and very neat and clean with all indoor work. Most importantly to me, after performing the inspection, they recommended some work (which we knew would be needed), but they were not pushy about signing contracts and having us commit to large monetary expenditures right away (unlike other companies we have dealt with in the past). All in all, this was a very pleasant company to work with.

It went really well pretty quickly. There were no problems for them to fix so it was just basically the sweep. They were reliable, punctual, and they did a good job. They did not find any problems that were there. They were on time and they were really clean which was nice for a chimney sweep.

He came out, and dicovered we may need a part or two, opposed to having the entire unit replaced. We were very happy with the service. He will be back to clean the unit and replace the parts needed.

Ryan and Son was here 1 week ago to inspect for a chimney certification and i needed a new (thimble) they quoted a price of 318.00 i thought it was fair they called and set up a time to come they showed right on time two service guys and spent about a hour or two work was done very clean and the price was less than quoted i would reccomend them and would use them again Landing NJ

They did a great job. They were really good and they're going to come back because outside the chimney there was potential for water and they have to patch it up for the winter and give us a new cap for the chimney. They're going to clean. They were very professional and they're on time. The way they did the contract I can say it's an average for the job.

showed up at right time spent at least 1 hour cleaning chimney told me i needed minor repairs to be certified said chimney would pass with these repairs and said its old and to expect needing a liner in about 6-7 yr period i felt they were honest and would recommend them to others

They are fantastic. They are skillful, courteous, are very open with the billing process, they let me know what exactly they were doing, and stayed in contact throughout the process. I had the chimney inspected today and the inspector said they did a good job. They were not the least expensive, but at this point I think we got what we paid for.

I called VERY last minute for a LevelII chimney inspection for a new house I was purchasing. Their team was very responsive, and not only accommodated my needs, but quickly turned around the report so I could send to the lawyer.

They were on time neat and clean. The reason I chose them was they were to do a video inspection of the chimney as well. My wife indicated they did a very thorough cleaning but she did not see any video of the chimney other that to say after the cleaning that is was clean and good to go for the season. We also inquired about an estimate for rain caps for both of our fireplaces which they are supposed to get back to us tomorrow.

They came and inspected the chimney and cleaned it. I felt they were trying to get a job from me for big money. I won’t use them again, and they didn’t get me an estimate that I asked them to get me which was a itemized list of repairs that I could choose from. I thought the deal was fine, and it was more the deal they tried to get from me after that. I felt he was just trying to sell me an $8,000 job. They were professional and courteous. They were good to work with.

The tech arrived on time and was very professional. Despite working with ash and soot he was able to keep a very clean workspace and did not track anything around the house. He inspected two chimneys. He told us the chimney in the living room was in good condition and just needed a cleaning. After cleaning and inspecting the chimney in the basement he found that there was a down draft due to poor design and recommended that we do not use it. He offered some suggestions to correct the issue but did not push us to purchase anything since we told him we were unlikely to use that fireplace.

Overall, very impressed with the company from making the appointment through the actual services rendered. (Level II Home Inspection) Service was prompt, thorough and efficient. Technician took time to explain what he saw and to explain what his initial recommends were. In addition, I received the written inspection report the same night reiterating the explanations / recommendations / estimates. All in all, very satisfied.

As I said above . They did what I read and signed up for from Angies list. Very impressed. Now, the work needs to be done. Waiting for the proposal. Will write eval after they do the work.

We noticed some pieces of the brick face chipping off, we thought we needed cleaning, we have some minor leaking and we knew we needed a cap because we had a turkey vulture come down the chimney (I'm not kidding, in fact if somebody can explain how I can upload a photo I will attach one for the amusement of fellow Angie's List members). We called multiple contractors and received quotes ranging from $600 to $25,000. It finally occurred to us that most of the quotes were coming from companies that advertised as chimney specialists in the yellow pages but when they arrived all their trucks advertised general contracting and roofing services too. We want to fix the problem but with so many "specialists" offering different opinions on the best course of action we decided to join Angie's List and get a real chimney guy, one who has worked ONLY on chimneys for years, to look and give us the facts. Ryan & Co got us an appointment in less than 48 hours, emailed to verify the appointment and they showed up on time as promised. We requested cleaning and told them nothing about our other issues, thinking that if there was a problem they would tell us. But Mr. Ryan told us "It's clean as a whistle, no need to clean it for at least a year." One of the guys went up on the roof called down to us "You should think about getting a cap. Do you have any leaking on the back side?" This was the point that we knew we found the right people. He took pictures and explained issues, didn't push any services. When we asked them for recommendations and an estimate he told us he'd get back to us in writing shortly. We'll report back and let you know how it goes.

Due to a misunderstanding, I previously wrote an unfavorable review of this contractor, which I must now retract. When the work was performed it was done so in a most professional manner. The job was completed within the schedule originally stated and the final cost was in fact significantly less than the original estimate. I would highly recommend this contractor to anyone.

It took them a while to respond, but the work was very good. The lid closes properly now and no water gets in. Plus, very nice folks. Family business i think so may be a little understaffed. But I will use them again.

It went reasonably well. This project was delayed multiple times do to weather.

Arrived on time--fast and efficient--fire box and flue are now squeaky clean and ready for the upcoming heating season. Inspected main chimney flue and recommended a liner as the flue is 50 plus years old and exhibits some joint damage. We will consider the repair. The estimate given was not outrageous. We will definitely use them again. Our prior experiences with chimney companies has been less than stellar. Thanks Angie!!
