,Athough work was done, this service provider is very expensive. He also adds on 8% when a credit card is used for payment.
Response from Carmine P. Aumenta Plumbing & Heating NJ

"We've done a total of 2 jobs for Mr. [Member Name Removed]. On the first job we found a leak around the drain of his steel bathtub which he thought meant having to replace the complete bathtub. We were honest with him and were able to repair it saving him the cost of a complete bathtub replacement. We also repaired a leak coming from his lavatory. He was so pleased with the work that we did that he gave both men tips and asked for a stack of business cards so he could pass them out to other people in his development. The cost of the work was $1200.00 and because he chose to use a credit card we told him there would be a 4% additional charge not the 8% as he stated. Two weeks later he called to have the drain cleared for his bathroom lavatory. We charged hi $160.00 + tax and there was no additional fee for using his credit card because of the lower amount. I had to call him to find out what caused him to give a bad review and become so unhappy. He said that he was disappointed that I charged him after we had just worked in his house two weeks ago. I kindly explained that if I did work for nothing I could no longer be in business. Instead of writing a bad review he could have taken the time to share the good work that we had done which saved him a lot of money."

Our 5 year-old hot water heater stopped working on New Year's Eve (12/31/15). We called Aumenta Plumbing and they sent someone over within the hour to look at it. The technician sent over was really nice, and spent about an hour diagnosing it, and trying to call the manufacturer (to no avail as it was late on NYE). They charged $160 to diagnose the problem, and recommended a full replacement. I was told the diagnosis fee would be applied towards the cost of replacement. We decided to call around and get a few other quotes, but ultimately called Aumenta back to do the replacement. The owner quoted me a ballpark price of $1950 for the replacement.
On 1/5 the same technician (and another helper) came back to replace the hot water heater. They did the replacement rather quickly, and got everything working again. He asked for a check for $1950, and I had forgotten about the $160 we already paid. I wrote the check and he left.
I called a few days later and spoke to the owner and asked about the $160 fee that was supposed to be deducted from the replacement cost. He told me that it was already deducted, even though the invoice didn't state this, and his initial ballpark price for the replacement was $1950. I explained that there must have been some confusion, because at no point did he mention that the $1950 was already with the $160 off.
Overall, the technician was great and knowledgable, but I feel slightly ripped off re. the diagnosis fee. I had a quote from the local utility company to do the full hot water replacement for ~$1300, but decided to spend the extra $650 to go with Aumenta as I felt the technician was knowledgeable. However, this ended up being $650 + $160 more, since the diagnosis fee was never taken off the final bill.
Probably won't use them again, as the prices seemed steep, and the owner was unwilling to budge on the diagnosis fee.
Response from Carmine P. Aumenta Plumbing & Heating NJ

"On New Year's eve 12/31/15, we immediately responded to a call for no hot water. An hour and a half was spent to attempt to correct this problem only to realize the water heater needed a complete replacement. For the time spent we had only charged $150.00 + tax. We quoted $1950.00 for the complete replacement which did include a partial adjustment for the initial money they paid. Unfortunately, he thought that I should have deducted the whole amount of the previous attempt to fix the water heater. I can't understand that he feels we should not be paid for the time spent trying to correct the problem especially since it was a holiday and we went out of our way to help them so they would not be without hot water over the holiday. The $1300.00 quote that he refers to from the utility company is not for the type of water heater that they require. They have a special power vented water heater that has a cost alone of being $1300.00 without labor and other parts so this is a very unfair comparison. Common sense would tell you that if there is such a disparity between the quotes, why would you choose us to do the work? I told my employees to go home early on New Year's eve to be with their families but he conscientiously offered to go and help these people out but it seems that no matter what you do you will not be able to satisfy some people. It is very disheartening."

I used Carmine Aumenta plumbing to install a hot water heater for me in my condo.  I have had it for close to a year now, and it?s working fine.  The final product was certainly successful.  The plumbers that installed it also overcame some obstacles to drain my old, broken heater.  I appreciate that.
You should be aware, though, that they were a bit sloppy and unprofessional.  They didn?t have all the tools necessary to complete the job.  For example, they needed a torch to solder some pipes.  They didn?t have anything to light the torch with.  Fortunately, I had fireplace lighter they were able to use.  I also would expect somebody to have a fire extinguisher if they are going to use a torch for plumbing.  They did not have one.  Even something as simple as a Sharpie they needed to borrow from me.  They were also sloppy in a number of ways.  Most importantly, as they were taking away my old heater, they spilled a bunch of black, silty water on the carpet in my front entryway and had nothing with which to clean it up.
Fortunately for me, I took on the responsibility of getting a hot water heater installed in a common area of my building.  A different company did that one.  I learned that time that I need an electrical disconnect installed near the heater to satisfy electrical/plumbing codes.  Had I not known that, Aumenta would not have installed one on this heater.  It?s my understanding that it would not have passed inspection without it.
The reason it?s taken so long for me to write a review is because it?s taken this long to get the final permit inspections done.  Part of that is because I travel for work a lot and was not always home for an inspection.  However, most of that is because they first had to bring in an electrician to check their electrical work.  Then they finally were able to schedule inspections.  This whole process took several months and only happened because I continued to follow up with them every step of the way.
All in all, they did a fine job.  It just took me a lot of careful watching, following up, and cleaning up behind them.  If you use them, just keep an eye on them all the way through to the final inspections.

New Year's Eve, and a valve on my boiler started leaking, spreading water over the floor. I called Aumenta plumbing, and they showed up in two hours.  The plumber replaced the valve quickly and professionally - he was polite and neat.  This is why I always use Aumenta -- they are the best: they always show up incredibly quickly, explain what they're doing, and do the job with no fuss. I've used them for years, and I highly recommend them.

I called at 10am and had someone here by 1pm. That's amazing. They were super responsive and very professional. They had all the parts necessary in their truck and were able to change the drain plug in 30 min. I think the price was a little high, but you can't beat the responsiveness and professionalism.

My property ran into continues clogged up sewer line with everything backing up in the basement. I called a well known plumbing company, they cleared the line and did a video assessment.  Still the problem persisted the following week, and the video didn't do much help as it was limited in terms where it could go.  Other plumbing companies started to through large dollar figures and still not really helping me with the current situation.  Despite having a few on going work projects Carmine and his son were able to squeeze in my appointment and I am very thankful for them.  I was there and saw how difficult the job was but with persistence, and you can see their experience and with proper equipment they were able to clear the line.  I checked out other plumbing companies, but they were either overpriced, pitched costly re-piping projects, and weren't effective.  I'm very happy with the servie and would high recommend their services.  Family run business with high level of integrity!

Many thanks,

Service and repairs went well - staff was professional and left the work area clean when completed. The only issue I had was on pricing as I felt it was a bit excessive. If I did not need the work done immediately I would have shopped it around. When I asked for an itemized receipt I was told "we do not give itemized receipts, we only provide flat fees".

After realizing that the heat in our apartment wasn't working I contacted Carmine and he dispatched someone out to me that same day to diagnose the problem and give me an estimate. Ben, the technician we worked with was knowledgeable, responsive and made my husband and I feel comfortable with the work being done. They worked with our schedules and gave us a good price to replace our boiler and install a new one. (We got other quotes but their price and availability made it obvious this was the right choice.) I was so happy to have hired someone who takes this much pride in their work and I sleep easier knowing the job was done right.

Problem fixed. But they charged $342 to change a $25 water hose. It needed to be done so I paid the price. But never have I encountered a service professional with such total lack of respect for a customer. I expressed my puzzlement at the price forgetting that he had quoted me 300+ for the job over the phone. Oh boy I shouldn't have done that. He berated me over the phone. Guess I got what I deserved. Should have called around and checked prices with other plumbers. Picked Aumenta plumbing due to their stellar reviews. Have to say I am surprised that other people find them/him so helpful and professional.
Response from Carmine P. Aumenta Plumbing & Heating NJ

"Two hours was spent to assess and repair the leak from your dishwasher. Prior to doing your job you were quoted $320.00 + tax, which included labor and material. There was no charge for the estimate. It was at that point that you should have decided if you wanted us to do your job. So yes, I was very adamant about sticking to my price when you called and repeatedly tried to get me to lower it when you had already agreed to the estimate. I don't know why you would be surprised we get such stellar reviews, there's a reason for it."

If Angie's list included an A+ rating, I would use that!
Okay, so this wasn't a "major" service call or anything, but the simplicity and responsiveness and focus on customer service is what puts this over the top! Just like one might only hope to find a car mechanic that won't jerk them around with jargon or make unnecessary repairs I felt that Carmine was totally above board. - So, the details - This is a rental property in Elizabeth, NJ. Yesterday, I had the furnace serviced because it wouldn't start up. I used Angie's List to find another vendor who promptly came out and completed the repair. All good. Except, today, the tenant calls to say there was no hot water. He went downstairs, saw that the pilot light was out and couldn't light it back up. Being that I live out of town, I needed help. The tenant has a 1 year old in the apartment so the fix couldn't wait. I turned to my trusty Angie's List and found Carmine. When I called, Carmine answered and said he could have someone there in the early afternoon (in fact, it was probably no more than 90 minutes after our initial call). And so it went - Danny showed up on time, gave me a call and went to work. Carmine later called to tell me that it appeared the gas line had been shut off (to the water heater)! - Did the furnace repair guy do that? Did the tenant do it by accident while troubleshooting? I may never know. But I do know that it made sense and Carmine provided a straightforward answer when he could have made any number of claims or said parts needed replacing, etc. Nope! Not here! THANK YOU, Carmine for your honesty and great customer service! You can be sure to get my business in the future!!!

Needed to replace my water heater. Of all the service providers called their price was in the middle but the lower price quote was for a lesser quality product. The work got done the same day, in by 2:30 and out by 6p. The entire process was handled quickly and efficiently. The worker was friendly, polite, and professional and took the time to answer all my questions about the plumbing system in my old house.

I think Carmine was very thorough and professional. He came out quickly, looked into the issue, and researched options. The estimate to replace our water heater was higher than I had expected, but Carmine explained the reasons behind it as well as possible cost saving options. I decided to put a little more research into issue, so have not yet moved forward. I thought the level of service from Carmine was high enough to warrant an immediate review.

The disposer was replaced within 30 minutes after the plumber arrived at my house, which is timely.
However, the contractor has been extremely unprofessional about my simple request to send me a receipt for the work performed.
He used words like "nightmare" and "grief" just because I called him twice about the receipt.
After charging my credit card right away, it's going to take them 5 days to generate a receipt to email to me.
He even said it's not worth for the price paid - I paid the price he quoted over the phone (with taxes).
He indicated that I did a "bad thing" by not tipping the guys after paying $190 for half an hour of work, and this is why receipt is being delayed.
VERY UNPROFESSIONAL IN DEALING WITH CUSTOMERS!!

Response from Carmine P. Aumenta Plumbing & Heating NJ

"Prior to going to the customer’s home, he had already asked numerous questions regarding the installation of a garbage disposal. He told me he had attempted to do it himself. I commend my employees for promptly showing up and efficiently getting it done. While they were there he again questioned and expressed doubt for everything they did. When the job was completed he called my office and started questioning why they just took his credit card number and gave no receipt. I explained the terminal on their truck was not working and it would be done in the office. When he called my office that day I explained we would be closed until Monday because of a family wedding out of town. He then called again on Monday morning while his invoice and receipt was being processed and would not let me off the phone again for 15 minutes. All for a $190 job. I then lost my patience and told him to please not call my company again. I guess that is what caused him to vindictively make this negative report. The customer stated that I am so unprofessional in dealing with my customers but the majority of all my prior reports are all A’s. I also never told him to tip my employees. What I did say is everywhere my guys go, customers are so pleased that they give them tips instead of a hard time."

We are looking to buy an apartment with some plumbing issues that came up in the home inspection. I called Carmine and asked if he would give me an estimate of the cost of these issues. Within an hour of sending him the list of issues, he got back to me with a rough estimate and an explanation of the issues.
I called 3 different plumbers and he was the only one who was willing to give me an estimate based on the known issues from the inspection.
I will definitely consider using him for future estimates and work.
