Throughout the entire process, including the bidding and estimate activities, Billy displayed an incredible amount of attention to detail and planning.  He took precise measurements and photos and during the estimate work had his workers (at his own expense) dig trenches in order to be certain that his approach was one that would produce the best results.
 When the work commenced (almost a full month of work), the Avellino workers were always on time, courteous and professional.  The work was all done to a high standard.  Work was cleaned up daily and the area was always left in an orderly fashion.  They promptly addressed any questions or suggestions that we had.
Overall, Avellino was actually the best contractor that I have ever worked with.  They are truly a model of how quality work should be done.  Billy's continual attention to detail and his obvious desire to be a perfectionist allows me to give this vendor the highest rating and referral !!

I called around to about four or five masonry contractors when trying to price out this job, and only two of them (Avellino and one other) seemed interested enough to respond at in a timely fashion (or at all in some cases).  Avellino had the better price of the two quotes I received, though at the time I thought that the other company seemed a little more professional.  However I really liked Adam from Avellino when he came to look at the existing steps.  And his price was about $650 less!
At times communication with Adam was tricky, a bit of phone tag and one or two emails with no reply.  And the scheduling was a little vague.  But I was not surprised or upset by anything and was always able to get an answer without anything becoming a problem or delaying the work.
When the crew did show up to perform the work, they were on time and finished the entire demolition and rebuild in one day. Since they didn't have to dig and pour a new footing this was possible, but I was still impressed.  The crew left the yard and driveway pretty much exactly as they found it, cleaning up nicely and taking away all the refuse except the old handrail.
The new steps look great, and to my non-expert eye appear to be very well built.  Better than the previous set for sure.  It's a bit hard to say if they will stand the test of time, but I am very happy with the result.  
The only outstanding thing at this moment is a receipt for my payment, as Adam was unable to provide one when I gave him the payment.  He has promised me that he will send a receipt so that should take care of it.

There's a crew of maybe 4 or 5 because it was quite a large project. They all worked extremely hard all day long from the time they got here to the time they left. There's no goofing off or anything like that, no wasting time. The time they mostly took for lunch was like only 10 to 15 minutes. The work looked like it was done by people that actually take a pride in their work and not just doing it for money. They were all Italian. I would use them again if I had to.

They did a great job.  As I said, this was a very complicated process, so it was hard to find someone who had the skillset to do everything in-house.  Avellino did a great job and got it all taken care of.  They figured out the best way to do this, taking a lot of time to make sure they had the best solution.  They were by far the most thorough of all the people I contacted in terms of putting together a bid and discussing what really needed to be done. I was very pleased with their work.  They didn't miss a day even though we had such an extremely stormy spring and early summer: they rigged up a tarp to protect the work and just kept working.

It went very well. The crew finished the job in one day. Clean up was good with minor damage to some nearby plantings. Adam gave us a free estimate and the work provided was exactly as written up in the estimate. The price for the completed job was exaclty as the estimate. Crew were courteous and hard working.

-Adam project managed our job.  Throughout the process he was timely, accountable and professional. 
-The crew did excellent work and always allowed me to ask questions/make suggestions along the way.
-They finished the project on time and worked in tandem with the company building our deck, as the projects needed to be coordinated with each other.

Working with this contractor was pleasant and  professional from beginning to end.  We were given a very reasonable quote and our specific requests were addressed.  The end result was a beautiful new sidewalk, front steps and patio.  The skill and workmanship were top of the line and the people were polite and professional.  Since we had the work done, we have had a few contractors at our home for other projects who also commented on the fine workmanship.  We highly recommend them!!!

I chose not to do the project, because we thought we might move. It had nothing to do with Avellino Custom Masonry. I was very happy with their estimate, their response, and the guy who came. I would have liked using them, but at that point we didn't know what we were doing. They were completely on time, they told me when the were coming, they told me the guy's name who was going to show up. I was very happy with the estimate. Based on what I have seen I would not hesitate to use them. They do interesting things if you look on their website. 

They did good work and were very professional. They did exactly what they said they were going to do and did a really good job; it came out nice. It seems like they had a decent price but the way they approached the job gave us more confidence in them. They were certainly not the highest price; I think they were in the middle.

Avellino was professional from start to finish.  Workers were focused on the job and did excellent work.

They were very professional, thorough and competent.  They were very accomodating with a few additional requests we had. 

He was very personable and he got back to me within a reasonable amount of time. I am not at the point where I have to make a decision so I am holding off on that. He was the first one that I got a quote from so I have nothing to compare it to. Adam came out to look at another job and he said he would take it back to his boss to get an estimate and I never heard back from him. I gave him a second chance to give me a quote for the front stoop and he was surprised that his boss never got back to me. He did come out twice and he did come when he said he would but his boss never got back to me.

This was an excellent mason-contractor who did everything right -- beginning to end.  They were very competitive on price, provided first class stone, and a very capable crew who worked hard and knew what they were doing.  They did exactly what I wanted.  I would not hesitate to use them again. They did not ask for payment until they were done and I said I was satisfied -- a refreshing change from what we are all used to hearing.  All non nonesense.   And by the way, I found them on Angie's List.

'Avellino's salesrep Adam, came to our home within a few days of contacting them based on previous references on Angie's list and their close proximity to our home. Adam took careful measurements and understood our need to level our existing area, as well as extend to the edge of our property. We were given an email and hard copy price quote with step by step procedures to be followed during the job on April 30th. The quote included a 5% senior discount and stipulation that payment was not due until we were completely satisfied.We then contacted several other masons in our county area. One would not travel 15 miles to come for an estimate. Another local contractor that had issued coupons came on the same day, and after a cursory review of the job, offered three different prices within ten minutes, none of which matched the price presented by Avellino, in writing. My wife and I decided to call Adam back and accept the quote.   Adam told us that they preferred to do the job during warmer weather and needed 6-8 weeks.  Approximately June 1st, I called Adam asking the status of performing the job. We were having an outdoor party on June 24th, and were hoping for completion by that time. Adam called back immediately, and promised to try to move up our date. As later promised, Adam and an excavation crew of 8 workers came on 6/14. They worked nearly 12 hours to remove and prepare the patio while leveling the area .On friday 5 employees showed up to complete the foundation/paving process. At the end, they told me that Adam would contact us in the next few days. While waiting for Adam to call, we noticed one cracked paver and several discolored ones. Adam called the next day and marked the pavers to be replaced. He told us the crew would return in a few days to perform this task. Three days later 3 members of the crew showed up in the rain to replace the pavers. Within fifteen minutes, they finished the job.Two days later, our outdoor party was a success thanks to Avellino. Three days later, I called Adam to tell him we were ready to make payment. At the time we paid Adam, he assured us that they would be there if we had any problems with the work done in the future.During this whole process, all of Avellino's represesentative were professional, courteous and responsive. They also did an excellent job of cleaning and hauling away any debris.

They were out within a day and did a tremendous job.  They were not high pressured.  They did not over sell the job.  We had a number of people in.  The guy came in, he saw the situation, he assessed what needed to be done, and showed us what they would do.  There were 5 people who came in to work.  I was surprised when they said they would probably do it in a day, 2 at most but did it in I think it is a one day job.  When they were done, it was a really great job.  For six years we didn't have a water problem, not a damp floor.  We had a little unexpected snow storm followed by hurricane and we had Halloween and we got water in the basement and it never stopped until they did what they did.  We had two guys come in before, they were looking to make money, the first guy had quoted $26000 and the next guy quoted $10000.  I was initially weary at the price he was giving and went and got another estimate from somebody else that was a little bit more than his.  He was basically in the ball park that he talked about.  When we called him back, he gave us a discount.  He said he wanted to keep his cook working, so if he could do the work on certain days he could knock off a few dollars, otherwise the price was going to be what he gave us, which I think was $2400, but I could be wrong.  Everybody was way above that price.

He did a great job, had reasonable pricing and a very good professional guy.

From start to finish, the personalized care was thorough. We had three estimates, one local "master" mason thought our project wasn't big enough ($$$), one wanted to fit it in between his landscaping jobs. Avellino was first class. First we asked for a repair estimate for our walkway, the asked for the entire thing. He told us to look at website and pictures and explained different options and pricing. No hard sell. Estimate in mall within days. We saw a project they had done, a 30' by 30' backyard, gorgeous. We only had a little walkway. They didn't treat it as such. The workman arrived promptly. The weather was unpromising so they had to make a tent of canvas of rain for the mortar. They said 4 days, and that is how long it took, exactly as promised, no cost overruns. We were committed to building a deck if we ever had the extra money but we are now resolute that we will build our own, 10 by 10 or 20 by 20 backyard patio, with low maintenance, beautiful bluestone, and master craftmanship. Since this was not redesign or new item appended to the house, we did not have zoning or tax issues. I believe they can provide certifications if required. I would really recommend perusing their website. I was shocked that their was no sticker-shock from such a firm in Chester, NJ. Thank you so much, you have increased the worth of our house, and probably our neighbors as well, for a minimum expenditure.
