Going well. Bug sightings are vastly reduced. I bought their service contract and they come 4 times/year. They explained that bugs won't be totally eliminated with first treatment...it's a process. They have also come by when I have special requests. Their price is more reasonable than other estimates.

Vince Gasper was friendly and knowledgeable. He was thorough in searching all accessible areas of the the house, including crawlspace and attic. I know, because I followed him into those areas. He found evidence of powder post beetles (no termites) and promptly followed up with a clear estimate for treatment (essentially, spray for affected areas and replace damaged wood). Much to our dislike, the sellers insisted on going with their own choice of companies (smaller area, less spraying, no wood replacement, and greatly reduced cost to themselves). On the day of the inspection, Vince told us that Value Guard's charge for his services was inaccurate (too high, by $15). We had already made out a check and I said I was OK with him keeping the extra, that it was well worth it to us, but he refunded us this amount nonetheless. The 'B' for responsiveness ... this year (2013) I both emailed him and called him to ask if he might come out again to do a whole new evaluation for the powder post beetles and give an estimate for spraying and damage repair. In my message, I mentioned we were unhappy with the outcome at purchase whereby the sellers insisted on going with someone else and that we essentially wanted to start over. I also wanted to speak with him about an annual contract for termites. I was polite, upbeat, detailed and clear in saying I was looking forward to working with him again. I also said I was very flexible and willing to work with his schedule, whatever it was, even though it is rental property for me and I live 4.5 hours away by car. However, he never replied. I feel that if a contractor can't do it or doesn't want the job (believe me, I'm sympathetic) the least he can do is let me know... lie if necessary!
