Gary Powell is the proprietor.? Gary was very professional, easy to deal with and offered valuable recommendations.? Project was completed on schedule.? There were a few items which required attention?after the fact.? Gary responded to them in a timely and appropriate manner.? Would engage?in future projects with Gary.? Recommend Powell Roofing for future roofing and general construction needs.

All work was done as scheduled and promised. Gary was easy to work with and responsive. I was told the work would be completed in 2 days and it was. Coincidentally, I had another service provider that I use regularly to clean my gutters see the new roof (he also does roofing) and he said Gary's team did a really nice job. I had gotten several estimates and Gary's was fair in comparison - not super low, but just below the others. Once I added on a better shingle, and some of the fascia repairs it was comparable to others' pricing. The roof looks great, and I would recommend Gary's for similar work. Overall, an "A" job - and done as I expected - prompt, as promised and no drama! He will treat you fairly.

The guy showed up late for the estimate, which I was not that upset about. After I was provided the estimate I was told that they would be in contact with me to schedule an appointment to complete the work. I did not receive a response for a week, so I decided to contact them. When I called no one answered, so I thought they decided not to complete work because it was a smaller type of a job. They did call me eventually, and it turned out they sent an email with a contract to the to wrong address, which does happen. Therefore, I updated this review to reflect that.

I plan to use this company for my siding and roofing in the spring. However, he was very attentive and came to my house twice thusfar to provide siding materials and quotes.

They were very professional and efficient when making in-house estimate appointment. However, they were supposed to call a day ahead to confirm appointment which they never did. Appointment was set up at 9:30 and I had to call them at 9:45 to check on status and whether they were coming or not. They asked my contact information (again) and told me that Gary (owner who also makes all estimates) was going to call me right back. He didn't. I called them back again at 10:15 and left a voicemail. Five minutes later, they call me to tell me that he was stuck in another estimate and running late (really, you think?). They couldn't tell me how late he was going to be. He finally showed up at 10:42, that is1hr15 min late from original appointment. He never apologized for the delay. I had a small water leakage in Master Bedroom. He never went inside to check location. He just climbed up and looked at and walked on the roof. No lifting of roof tiles to check its condition and possible reason for leakage. His assessment was that roof tiles were not installed correctly (only on that side of the roof/story, which I found odd) and that it needed to be torn off and fully replaced at a ridiculous price of $1700! Leakage area was not bigger than 2'X2', how does it justify changing the whole roof?! I, obviously, went for a second AND third opinion. Very pleasant to work with Gary and his team. Easy to contact Gary and to schedule. Work performed was top quality. Cost exactly as per estimate. Neat clean-up. No surprises! Would use Powell again!

He was very professional, great communication, kept appointments, on-time, cleaned up nicely, and he did a very good job and it looks nice.

They came on time the day that was scheduled. The gutters are no longer leaking. This job was previously "done" by another contractor who did not do the job properly leaving the problem unsolved. I really appreciated the professionalism of this company and would like to hire them again for another project.

I had an excellent experience with this company. Gary was professional, came for the quote in a timely fashion, and did the work as scheduled. I would highly recommend Powell's Home Improvements, and will definitely call them again when needed.

Installed FCM (fixed curbed mount) sky light with tempered lowE3 glass (included curb and ECL flashing kit)... interior work was ready for paint...(this installation was very delicate due to ducts and electrical wires that had to worked around) installed aluminum awning (59 1/2" X 36" X 14") to match trim / gutter color... installed flashing on siding / awning. Gary and his staff were knowledgeable and dealt with all my concerns and answered all my questions in detail to my satisfaction. The work crew was professional, showed up on time, and took pride in their work (did not rush / took no shortcuts). The company was insured and licensed, no sub-contractors were used and all work was guaranteed for 10 years. I would definitely use them again and recommend them to my friends/neighbors. I requested some additional information for some more projects that I want done.

We have a venting issue in our attic so we needed someone to really help us fix the problem. The owner came out right away and was very knowledgeable. He provided us with a very reasonable quote. The work was scheduled and completed within a few weeks. The crew did a great job and did a great job cleaning up. Very professional, honest and reasonable priced. I recommend them highly.

Called him a few times. Sent a message through Angie's list. Have not gotten any response. If he is too busy, he should put that on his answering machine, so people will not try to keep getting him.

We had to reschedule due to weather several times,but they were prompt in getting work done when weather cleared. I had some questions and Gary came back to check on and clarify. I would use them in the future.

It went great! And our house looks so much better with the new roof. Roof was the last thing I wanted to spend $11k on , but it's nice to know it's done and done right. Gary knows more about roofing than I ever thought it was possible to know! He took the time to meet with my husband and me and explain everything. I highly recommend Powells to other Angie's List members!!! |

During a bathroom remodel, we learned that our roof had been leaking behind the walls. We didn't know it until the walls were down. We had paid a roofer to fix this part of the roof not 2 years prior and he apparently did a poor job. I called Powell's and Gary came very quickly. Went up on the roof, took pictures and explained why we were probably having the issues we were having. He gave us several recommendations and two options for repair. Knowing that our bathroom work was on hold until the roof was fixed, he squeezed us into their very busy summer schedule. I found him to be honest, straightforward and knowledgeable. The team did a thorough job and we have not had any issues since--plus they guarantee their work.

They installed new large gutters and downspouts. Their work was of very high quality The date above is only approximate: It was during the summer.

It was really hard to get in touch with him. You had to call a service and they always ask you the same information. Even just returning a phone call was ridiculous. When I get to talk to him and he did have the work finally done, everything was great. I had to follow up on having some work finished but I didn't think I needed to call him back on. I thought the price for the repair was fair and reasonable. The gutter cleaning seems kind of expensive, he charged $150 for that and that just seemed like a lot. Everythig looks good from down here and it seems to be working. He was pretty responsive when I was able to get to him. He had e-mailed the bill to me but twice he had the wrong e-mail address so I had to go back to him and tell him I still haven't gotten the bill.

I had a bad experience with them. It took them forever to return phone calls. It took them a long time to just respond in general and get out and do the work. When they did do it, they left a big mess. So I was not happy with them. I thought the price was fair and reasonable. He was courteous to me. It’s just that it took him a long time to get back to me. It was very frustrating to try and get this setup to do the job. They left a big mess when they done after they cleaned the gutters. I was pretty annoyed about that.

My overall experience with Powell's Roofing was excellent! When I called their Garwood office, I was impressed at how promptly Gary returned my call and made an appointment to estimate the job. He arrived on time for the estimate and took his time to carefully listen and offer his suggestions and expertise. He handled getting a permit for the chimney removal. His crew arrived on the day scheduled and did an excellent job, including removing all debris. Even our neighbors were impressed and will call him in the spring for their roof. I would highly recommend Powell's Roofing and will call when we are ready for a new roof. My only suggestion, is to call early, as this company's good reputation has them booked on jobs for a few weeks in advance. Cheryl S. - Westfield, NJ

Gary took time to go answer all questions I had about their proposal. I accepted and Powell's was out a week later to install the new gutters and gutter guard. Most of the leaves on my trees fell that night so it was just in time. I am very pleased with the job and the gutter guards that were put in place. They ran out of the gutter guard for all of the gutters on the first day, but they came back a week or so later to complete the job. I am very happy withe completed work and my experience with Powell's and will definitely consider them in the future

The owner, Gary Powell, came out to give an estimate for what I thought was a gutter repair job. After looking at my gutter, he indicated that the problem actually was an inadequate overhang of the roof shingles over my gutter. He gave me a price estimate to repair the problem. I also asked for an estimate to replace an attic gable vent, which he provided. I agreed to both estimates which seemed reasonable and fair. His crew came out on the date agreed and did both jobs. Mr. Powell also came out to make sure everything was done properly. The work was done quickly and efficiently. I am very satisfied with the work performed.

Gary came and personally gave me an estimate. I was impressed with his knowledge and liked the ideas and plan he suggested to fix the issues I was having. I also thought the price was very reasonable. The work performed was excellent and the workers were all very professional and did an outstanding job. The only small complaint I have is lack of response. It took a while for the work to begin and I didn't get a call back when I inquired about it. The workers showed up unannounced twice and luckily I was home and the job was done. I also asked for an estimate on replacing another small section of my old gutters that I noticed was still leaking after the cleaning was done and I decided I wanted to have the roof cleaned as well, but I didn't hear back. I highly recommend this provider as the work is excellent and the cost is reasonable. I hate to put anything negative here because I really liked the company and the work, but I just wish I had gotten a little better response and notification of when the work was going to be done.
