The OWNER had a bad attitude from the second he walked into my house! He was rude and very arrogant! I have been using this company for many years and I have let his obnoxious attitude slide before, but today I’ve had enough! He has absolutely no customer service skills whatsoever! My husband let him finish the job, but he definitely overcharged us! I will never recommend them to anyone, and my family and friends that had also used them in the past, will not in the future! Don’t take the chance of having this rude man come into your house to talk to you like your a stupid child!!

The work was done timely and clean. Once completed the technician (Michael) noticed a patch of water outside the bathroom area. He looked for the leaks location found it (cracked pile) contacted the main office and was authorized to fix it. I am so grateful that Michael cared enough to fix it immediately instead of making another appointment. Micheal was friendly, polite, funny and knowledgeable. He cleaned and took the old toilet and faucet to dispose of it properly. This is the second time I used Doctor Rooter and will definitely use them again. Thank you to Michael and the office staff.

The serviceman negotiated the price a bit and the final price was $400.00 including tax.  However, I had a granite sink and the serviceman refused to punch out the additional hole necessary to install the detergent pump that came with the fittings.   He also did not install the face plate that sits under the faucet.   The face plate is still not installed because that would require me to disconnect the faucet/fitting and I don't have time (which is why I hired someone to do it).  I had to punch out the additional hole myself in order to install the detergent pump. I think $400 is a lot of money to spend considering additional work and money is required to complete the installation of the kitchen sink (the way it was intended to be installed).
Response from Doctor Rooter Plumbing Sewer & Drain Inc

"You hired us to install your customer supplied faucet and to hook up plumbing under your counter top, we do not have proper tooling to make cuts or holes in your granite, that is your granite company job, further more you received other estimates of 400.00 and we matched the price and you chose us, so are pricing was the same as your other companies."

Got Ripped off.   Was to check/clear main drain from house. Told me he was NOT going to be ABLE to  Snake because the House-Trap was capped!!!!!.  Without EVEN TRYING to snake!!!.

YET he charged me for a Service Call charge of $133.75.   Tech's name was Vinnie M.  Said he would have to dig out the  trap and estimated a charge of $450 to just  thaw out the ground, not including any repairs.

Regardless of any and all excuses he may come up with: When he did not even try to snake...then  It is  simply a ripoff-

in my opinion 1 of 3 possibilities: Arrogance, lack of competence or sheer un-willingness to work in the crawl-space in the cold.

Response from Doctor Rooter Plumbing Sewer & Drain Inc

"First off you had another plumber their whom tried to snake and couldn't because you have a buried trap in the back of your building (no house) where we would need to snake from, we gave you a price to thaw out the ground and dig up the trap to snake, you choose not to, we also spent time their finding the building trap that you didn't even know you had."

Not happy with service at all.
November 18, 2014: Leak that seems to be coming from the hot water heater.  Called Doctor Rooter (who we have used several times since we moved into our house about 2 years ago) at about 5:30 PM, and they sent their night guy within an hour and a half.  He took one look at the hot water heater (not opening it up, or looking into any parts of the heater), and told me that it needed to be replaced (it was 7 years old - I thought the lifespan of a water heater was about 10 years, but he told me that it was 7 years, and that the warranty had run out at 6 years for my water heater).  He informed me that when the hot water heater leaks from where ours was leaking from, that it had to be replaced.  He made it seem that I had to replace the hot water heater right then, or that our manageable leak could become a flood at any moment.  Me, not being an expert in plumbing, took the expert's advice, and had him replace the hot water heater.  It took about 2.5 hours to complete the installation.  We were charged 1,444.50 which seems to be well above the average price for installation of comparable water heaters in our area.
November 19, 2014: I come home from work to see that water is still leaking from my utility closet.  When I go in and look, water is leaking from the main shut-off valve for the house.  I also notice that a knob from our furnace has been knocked off.  I call Doctor Rooter, and they send another plumber out to fix the new leak (which was not present the day before).  He said it was because some of the pipes had shifted when the water heater was installed.  The leak was fixed, and he told me that he would have the ladies in the office order a new knob for the furnace, because he couldn't fix it.  He said they would call me from the office when the new part was in, and they'd come and fix it. When I called, I asked about the price they had charged - I thought it was expensive - she told me she would have the boss, Kerry, call me back on Friday to discuss the price.  She never called.
December 8, 2014: First, I haven't heard from the office yet that the new knob for the furnace had come in.  Second, I come home from work today to see a leak again from the utility room.  When I go into my utility room, I see a leak EXACTLY like the leak we had the very first night when I was told we needed a new hot water heater.   I feel like I was taken advantage of, and that we didn't really need a new hot water heater, being that the leak is exactly the same as what it looked like the first time we had the leak there.
I tried calling the office tonight to have someone come fix it - I tried calling for over 2 hours - I called the 732 number, and the 866 number.  The phone rang, but no answer or answering machine/voice mail.

We had a flood in our basement and needed the sump pump changed.  The plumber was on time, very professional and got the job done.   The service however was a little expensive for the work done.  We have not had any problem with the work that was done.

The workers friendly and they discussed everything they were going to repair. They were in constant communication on everything they were doing and not annoyed when I asked to take pictures for insurance claim. The guys that performed the job were courteous and professional. They made sure that the problem was fixed completely before leaving for the day. Very prompt and clean.

This contractor provided me with an estimate for approx $ 1500 and told me it may be more once they dug the area to see where the leak was. Low and behold it was more work, he informed my husband of such and proceeded to fix the main. When all was said and done he handed my husband a bill for $3200. I had received other estimated to replace the entire main for $ 2400, my husband walked away and I had to go and negotiate a different price after an argument I was able to reduce the cost to $2500. I would not recommend them and buyer beware. They really tried to take advantage of ou situation. AWFUL JUST AWFUL!!!

Dr. Rooter called back within 2 hours after our emergency voicemail at 6am. They said we would have a technician at our home to assess the problem between 9-11 am. The technician arrived shortly after 9am. He gave us an estimate, fixed the pipe and was out the door before 10 am. Fantastic! They also fixed our kitchen faucet two months prior with the same excellent response and service. Dr. Rooter is now our plumber of choice.

I was charged $280, minus the joke of a $30 coupon. This was for 30 minutes worth of work. The actual repair, to replace about 6' of pipe on Monday is estimated at over $1500. What a joke. I am not seeking neurosurgery. Unless you are Donald Trump beware of this outfit.

All I needed was a septic tank pumping and inspection of an otherwise working system.  Dr. Rooter does not perform this service, but they referred me to an excellent partner service, Cella's Septic in Toms River, NJ, which I can highly recommend for Angie's list.  They arrived the day after my call, pumped the tank, and found no problems with the system.  I found the price reasonable, as it was well within the range of several estimates I found on the net.  Without hesitation, they also explained what they were doing as I watched and cleaned up after the job was complete.
