They arrived at 9:15am and got right to work.  It was a difficult fix that required a lot of work.  They kept us informed as the work progressed and finished the job about noon.  Everything seems to be working great.  They were extremely professional.  Their estimate was exactly what they charged.  They went through all the numbers and deducted the Angie's List coupon.  I was extremely pleased with the result.

We called Doctor Rooter on a Saturday afternoon after discovering that we had a pit in our basement full of sewage.  Mark came out within an hour and worked for over an hour to try and free the pipes.  Unfortunately, the pipe inside had let go and was full of sand.  Mark told us that they would have to dig up the front yard to get to the pipes, but couldn't do it till Monday as they had to notify the town first.
On Monday morning they showed up with the machinery and started working.  Unfortunately, we soon discovered that the pipes to the street were all original to the house,  and had to be replaced as well.  The showed my husband all the old pipes and explained what had to be done before proceeding.
George and two of his crew worked all day Monday without a break in order to try and get us some sewer service before the end of the day.  They came back Tuesday and finished all the pipes to the street working from about 8AM till after 6PM, again with no break.  They were back again on Wednesday to meet inspectors and close everything up.
They were extremely professional, knowledgable, and fair with their pricing.  I felt very comfortable leaving my house to do errands knowing they were there.  This was a big job and they were here for days.  They even recommended a company that specializes in drying and deodorizing basements as the break had eroded the sand under our foundation and that had to be cleaned up and then filled with concrete.
George even came back several days later  when a severe rainstorm washed some of the dirt back in before the other contractors could finish their job.  He regraded our yard and left it as it was before the storm.  He didn't charge us for the extra visit.
We had called Doctor Rooter after reading his reviews on Angies' List, as we were new to the area and didn't know anyone to call. We highly recommend them for any size job.

The work was done to my satisfaction. He did a good job replacing toilet parts and the toilet works fine.  However, I felt the cost
was high. Even though the service was performed on Sunday, I was told the cost would be the same during the week. I didn't get
the estimate until the service person arrived. I decided to fix it because I couldn't turn off my shut-off valve and water was leaking
from the toilet tank. I don't know whether the cost would have been the same with other providers.

My experience with them was excellent.  I have used them before, and I have always been very pleased with them.  Again, they are really punctual and responsive.  They explain things and they are very thorough.

I first called and was told someone could be at my home in 10 min- 1 1/2 hrs which was great.  The problem could not be solved as it was late in the day so they wrote up an estimate and did not charge me for the visit as long as I wanted them to complete the necessary work.  To me it was expensive but I almost never need plumbing work so I wont say it was overpriced.  Mark called the next morning to say he was 20 mins away and arrived within 10 mins of originally promised time.  He was careful with the wall to not open it up unless he was certain of where and how much needed to be cut.  He recommended covering the hole with a return air vent rather than expensive sheet rock wall repairs and re-paint in case there is a future need to access the pipes.  This was a genius suggestion and only $10 for the right vent cover.  He needed to remove and replace the toilet to get access to the wall.  He was as clean as I'd expect anyone to be that's doing work, I just went over everything quickly with bathroom cleaner spray and paper towels as I put stuff back in/on the vanity.  I feared it would be an all day job but he was done by about noon which was great.
Very friendly person to deal with in my opinion.  He was fine to check out the other toilet since he was here and figured it was not a difficult problem for him to fix before writing up the final bill.  I did use my $30 off Angie's List coupon.

I called the company to find out if they had ever worked with a drain
pump in the past.  While they had another name for it, they did assure
me they had experience.  I then asked for any price estimates (looking
for service call estimate, so I knew what value the $30 discount offered
to Angies customers would provide), to which all I was told (twice as I
did ask again when I wasn't given a proper answer) was that the
representative would arrive and review the situation and then inform me
of costs.  That's not the way I care to do business, but since it was on
Angies with a decent rating, I gave her my home information.
When
the gentleman arrived, he was courteous enough, looked at the drain
pump (all of 60 seconds) and gave me his conclusion that it was burnt
out and provided me an estimate to replace it for $575.  There was no
trial and error performed of checking on this that or the other thing,
which I expected.  After they left, I looked on the internet for the
same product I was quoted, which was $228.  That's quite a markup for
them to "remove the old and replace with a new", given the pipe and
connections would all be reused.  Needless to say, I'll be ordering the
replacement myself and installing it (after I first do a little more
troubleshooting to satisfy my mind).

8/2013 - Update - I did more research and the pump did not need to be replaced.  There was build up on the arm which was preventing it from working correctly.  Some silicone and cleaning and its working properly!  So glad I didn't pay for them to "fix" it!

EXCELLENT JOB.  MARK WAS GREAT.  HE'S THE ONLY ONE THAT DID NOT TRY TO RIP ME OFF.  ONE PLUMMER TOLD
US THE OPENING FOR THE PUMP WAS TOO SMALL AND GAVE US SO MANY WAYS HE CAN DO THE JOB.  ANOTHER PLUMBER TOLD US THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO TAKE OUR BACK UP PUMP APART AND THAT WOULD BE AN EXTRA COST.  MARK CAME IN,  REPLACE THE SUMP PUMP WITH NO PROBLEMS.  ALSO,THE GIRLS IN THE OFFICE ARE GREAT. AND VERY UNDER STANDING.

Wow ? what a great company!! I joined Angie?s List for one reason ? it?s Sunday ? Super Bowl Sunday ? and our Septic Tank was backing up. I called Doctor Rooter to see if they could come by and to my amazement they helped us out even though they don?t pump septic tanks. The person I spoke to gave me the name of two companies that handle septic tanks and I was able to get someone on the first call. I would not have known where to start if it wasn?t for DR. I am very impressed with how nice they were and really helpful even though they weren?t going to make anything on the call. That is the sign of a truly professional company. Thank you very much for the help. I?ll be sure to call DR for all our future plumbing needs!!

Overall, the service was performed as well as it could have been given the location and severity of the blockage.  The workmanship was professional and persistent to resolve the problem.  The underlying issue is the four occupants of the connected condominium have never really cleared the pipes / drains previously and the residue has built up down the line which, hopefully, is now the condominium association's problem.  The Techs were helpful in trying to establish that the problem is outside the scope of the occupants; and that is most helpful and, we think, an honest and fair assessment of the problem

Our kitchen drain would back up every time we ran the water and then take several minutes to drain.  I tried Drano and snaking it myself but it still refused to clear.  I called Doctor Rooter after a good Angie's List review and they said they could do it that day.  The worker was on time, asked for a description of the problem, and quoted me a price up front.  He brought in a power snake and got to work.  After running it through a full 75 feet (15 would have reached the outside of my house) he cleaned up and ran the water.  Everything ran fine, so I'm pleased with the service.

I just kicked out of my property (a little after 10 a.m. today) George , the owner, for rude,  unprofessional and aggressive behavior.  This man was so unprofessional that he did not even give his name when I shook his hand and introduced myself. I just found out his name by calling the company office just a few minutes before writing this review.
After shaking George?s hand, I walked him to the garage and handed him a copy of the approved bathroom plan. He immediately told me that he would not be able to give me a quote because the bathroom was not framed out yet. I found his reasoning very strange and puzzling for many reasons. First, other plumbing contractors have given me price quotes for the job already. They did not seem to have a problem with basing their quote on the professionally-prepared and town-approved bathroom plan. Other contractors such as framing, masons and electrical contractors were also able to give me quotes based on the plan. Secondly, as a business owner who has had experience with build-outs and leasehold improvements, I know that contractors do give out quotes based on plans. As a matter of fact, most of them use the plan for their estimates. I also know that the framing need not be built yet in order for any contractor to give a price. George, however, insisted that he can?t give a price because nothing has been built yet.
I told him that other plumbers and other trade contractors have already given me a price for the job. He then proceeded to tell me that Angie?s List is a listing for specific services such as plumbers. He also told me that he was very expensive because he was the best. I?m not sure why he would utter such nonsense but I can only surmise that he was suggesting that the quotes I received were not from legitimate plumbers. I told him that all the other plumbers and other contractors came from Angie?s List. He then asked me for the price quotes that the other plumbing contractors had given me. At this point, it became obvious that George was playing a game. I told him that I was not going to give him the price quotes of the other plumbing contractors. I also told him that there was no point in continuing the meeting since he was not going to give me a quote anyway.
He then raised his voice and proclaimed that he is the plumber with the highest A-rating in Angie?s List. I told him that there are other plumbers with A-ratings in the list. That seemed to agitate him even more because he raised his voice and moved towards me in an aggressive manner while making the same proclamation. I guess he thought that he was going to intimidate me with his height and overweight size but I am not one who cowers to bullies  At this point, I moved towards him to show that his bully tactic was not going to work. I demanded him to leave my property immediately.  I told him that he was very obnoxious and unprofessional. He actually had the audacity to accuse me of being the unprofessional one for not having the bathroom framing done before calling him in for an estimate!
I am still shocked at what happened.  While this was not my first experience with an aggressive contractor, George was certainly the first one to become aggressive over a price quote that was not even forthcoming. I just don't understand why this man behaved so reprehensibly.

We have used Dr. Rooter twice recently for plumbing issues.  First was when we had an odor in the bathroom and we were concerned.  We called Dr. Rooter and a very friendly person picked up the phone immediately.  She said Kevin would come that same day (a Sunday I think). He came right on time.  When he investigated the issue he said he asked if we had used the shower in the bathroom for a while and we didn't.   He said the water evaporated and was letting the fumes from the pipe come in through the drain. He just ran the water and that solved the problem.  It has been fine since. We also had him snake 2 drains and give us some estimates on other repairs we were thinking of.  I like that he gave us estimates right away and was giving us ideas to help us save money. I also thought he might charge us extra for coming on a Sunday but he didn't.  The price I thought was reasonable.
The second time we called him our toilet was running and leaking.  Again, a friendly person answered the phone immediately and scheduled an appointment for the next day.  Kevin came right on time.  He was also very considerate to be very quiet as our son was napping. He said our toilet was from 1962 and they don' t make the all the parts any more and we may need to replace it.  On further inspection, he replaced the parts he could and was able to fix it.  It has solved the problem and he thought we may be able to hold off replacing the toilet for a year or more.  We have been very happy with the service from Kevin.
