On April 19th 2019, I took my car to have the oil changed at Lacey qwik lube and car wash. Everything was a normal transaction until I went to get in my vehicle. Employee #1 pulled the car out and said that the warning light on for the hood being ajar. He popped the hood, adjusted the hood bumpers and slammed the hood harder then you ever should. I got into the car and check and the warning was still on. So I popped the hood again. While employee #1 was fiddling with the latch for the hood, employee #2 came over and said the used some lubricant on it because they had trouble opening the hood earlier. The latch assembly was covered in the lubricant and the surrounding area, which includes the sensor that sends the signal that says the hood is closed. At this point the owner came over with some brake cleaner and sprayed the assembly hoping cleaning the sensor of the lubricant would make it work again. When it did not work, I stated very calmly that the warning message on the dash was not on when I brought the car in. I also asked if there was a issue opening the hood why didn’t they come get me and explain this before they proceeded with getting the hood open. I then asked by which means did they actually get it open. The owner stated this was a common problem but couldn’t or rather wouldn’t explain how they got the hood open. He then cut me off from asking any further questions. He would just state they didn’t do it and it wasn’t their responsibility. He then accused me of coming in the problem and pretended they did it. This made me very angry. He basically said I was con artist, looking to extort him. We exchanged unpleasant comments and I left. The warning light Is still on. When I returned home I researched any fixes. I came across some information that states that if the vehicle thinks the hood is open while the car is locked the alarm will go off after a few mins . Sure enough the alarm went of when I locked the vehicle. Now I can not lock my vehicle with out it going off. This issue was not cause by me. If there was a issue to get the hood open I should of been told and I could given permission for them to do any other work out of the scope of what we discussed. I never allowed anyone to do anything but change my oil. No one would tell me how the hood was finally opened if it was stuck. That makes me feel like there was something that went wrong and they are covering it up. This is a major inconvenience for me not being able to lock my car and keep it and the contents safe.
