Short version if you don't like reading: Don't waste your time or your money with these guys. Asked for quotes to repair or replace a low slope roof (only a small part of my full roof, the rest is shingled) because leak marks had appeared on the ceiling. American Home Contractors did not show up to complete the work for a month after initial scope was agreed. During quoting, they did not bother to look at the roof, and they stated they would do a full replacement for ALL plywood on the low slope roof section of my house, which was completely unnecessary work and expense. American Home Contractors' initial response to my quote request was prompt and a representative arrived on time for the quote appointment, but everything else was down hill from there. The first red flag was that the representative did not even bother to climb onto the roof to see what condition it was in. Had he bothered, he maybe would have noticed a couple of spots where the roof was "spongy" to walk on and he would have seen some obvious patch attempts had already been made - these were not visible from the ground. He would have also noticed that the ridge caps on my house were not proper ridge vents which should have been installed with the shingled roof that's on the rest of my house (the roof is 3 years old, and the low slope roof is only over the TV room at the back of the house). The caps were a different material and a completely different color from the shingles, they were done cheaply and just wrong, but against the sky this was also not noticeable from the ground. After only viewing the roof from the ground, we discussed two options to do a full replacement of the low slope roof or just do some tarring/patching to see if that would stop the leak. For the full replacement, the rep informed me that they would need to rip out down to the rafters "all of the underlaying plywood sheathing" along with the flat roofing. The rep later followed up with an email on June 26, 2017 providing a formal quote for just the full replacement option as he described which came out to $9,900. I had to remind him to provide the other option of just patching, which he then gave at a quote of $300. On June 29, 2017 I agreed to try just the patching option for $300, and I was told they would come by the following week after the 4th of July to do the repair. They did not show up that week and did not reach out to me with an updated timeline. I contacted them the following Monday, July 12th, and I was told I was "on the top of the list" and that they would aim for early the next week. The next week also came and went with no contact from them and no work done. On July 25th I cancelled the repair of the flat roof. I lost a whole month waiting around for them to show up, and they never bothered to contact me about any of the delays. The roofer I contacted next was fantastic. He pointed out all of the roof issues I listed above, and he said it absolutely was not necessary to replace all of the plywood as a standard practice for replacing low slope roofing. He said you only need to replace the plywood sections where there was rotting. I decided to go with a full replacement of the low slope roof and also install the correct ridge vents. His price was $6,700 for the low slope roof replacement (we opted for the longer lasting torch down roll roofing, too) and his price included the new ridge vents. This compared to $9,900 from American Home Contractors for only the low slope roof replacement with lots of unnecessary new plywood makes American Home Contractors look like scammers. At the end of the day I would say don't waste your time or your money with these guys.

We were very pleased with the work American Home Contractors did on our home. Dave, our project coordinator, was very pleasant to work with and very responsive. We used them to install new roofing and siding. My husband and I changed our minds on what we wanted early on in the project, and Dave was able to accommodate our every need. He took the time out to educate us on what we were buying and why its important to understand it. We also went with American Home Contractors because they offer a good labor warranty. It made us comfortable knowing that the work done is guaranteed to last. Our home looks fantastic and we couldn't be happier with the outcome. I would definitely use American Home contractors again and would recommend them for anyone getting their roof or siding done.

John fixed without extra charges

The salesman was friendly and responsive. He didn't keep me informed of changes to the schedule (due to rain so it wasn't their fault). Because I'm home all day it wasn't a big deal for me but could be for someone who has to coordinate to be home. They worked fast and cleaned up well after. The only issue I had was attention to detail in the work. I had to point out few obvious things to be fixed. I had some small appearance related issues that they resolved adequately. That lack of attention to appearance kept me from contracting them for my subsequent siding job.

Dave DaVeiga was our point of contact for the job. He was extremely responsive and easy to work with. We were not sure if we were just going to repair a portion of our roof (shingles were slipping), or replace the entire thing. We decided to replace the whole thing. Dave explained everything that would be done to the roof and answered any questions we had. Once we decided on the day, they came around 8-8:30, and finished the job at about 6:30. They even came back the next day to make sure everything was cleaned up. I have yet to find a nail (its been about 2 weeks). I would highly recommend American Home Contractors again. They were a pleasure to work with.

The morning of the appointment, John Parker, the owner, called ahead and was able to arrive before the scheduled time. After completion of the project, he explained the services performed and options in a thorough, knowledgeable, and professional manner. I would definitely consider this company for future roofing needs.

American Home Contractors subcontracted the work out to another company. There was an issue with the subcontractor but American Home quickly took care of the issue to my satisfaction.

IT WENT PERFECT

I called for an estimate for contract work on a house that I am currently in contract for. My call was responded to but I missed the call so it went to voicemail and I called back. After that, they didn't seem interested as they didn't respond to the message that I left at their office (I was told that it was "put on the desk") and when I called back the next day with my husband calling, he was told that they don't do estimates for homes that are under contract-only if it's already bought. Lesson learned, crossing them off the list.

Overall excellent job! A little miscommunication in the beginning but everything worked out to our satisfaction.

I husband hired American Home Contractors because Dave showed a great attention to detail and he did not disappoint. The crews that came worked very long hours until job was done. Workmanship was excellent. Very happy with the look of the Hardie Siding and window trim. This type of project will generate a lot of debris because of removing all previous siding but I feel it was worth it, I like that this siding is not "covering up" anything.

Great. Originally purchased Angie's list special for 100 feet of gutter replacement. Appointment got scheduled for the following morning. Jon Parker promptly showed up on time. After discussing what needed to be done, I decided to replace gutters on entire house and add leaf mesh to about half of them. Two days later, on a hot sunny day, the gutters were replaced. Three guys worked non-stop for about half a day to complete the work. Very satisfied with their professionalism and cleanliness.

As expected

It went great. Jonathan Parker came and went up to review the situation. 20 minutes later, he came in and showed me pictures on his phone, of a few cracks and a small hole. Much to my surprise, the next pictures he had were of everything patched up.
